This update adds optional readout of image blur for objects at the extremes of depth of field and at focus (where image blur will be non-zero if you opt to include the effects of diffraction).
Why would this be useful? After all, image blur at the extremes of depth of field should simply be your specified circle of confusion. Well, not if you focus beyond the hyperlocal distance.
Some landscape photographers place greater emphasis on image sharpness for far objects (the horizon or, say, a line of trees on a ridge) than for near objects. They reason that the eye/brain expects distant objects to be sharp but can tolerate a wee bit of image blur up close. So they focus a little beyond the hyperlocal distance. Well, now you can have a readout of image blur and better judge where you would like to place focus.
By the way: You'll have the far limit pointer at infinity, but don't lock it in place. Locking it engages Hyperfocal Mode, which you don't want in this case.
The update also adds more flexible options with regard to switching off numerical readouts, for those who prefer a more minimalist interface — one that relies on the use of analog scales.

This update fixes issues with hidden locks on iPhone 5s. Note that, due to the small screen of that device, a lock on the aperture slider is not available. The three locks for the distance sliders are available, and they're much more useful.
Don't forget all the great changes made in Version 5.0, which brought a HUGE increase in versatility and added entirely unique ways of working:
* In addition to the usual inputs, you can now directly set the near or far limit of depth of field — simply slide the relevant pointer.
* You may lock any input and then vary any other input.
It sounds so simple (hey, good design should always be simple), and yet this opens up all manner of different ways of working with depth of field. Just a couple of examples:
* A landscape or architectural photographer can specify a desired depth of field simply by setting the near limit of DoF, locking it in place, then setting the far limit (or vise-versa). TrueDoF-Pro will instantly display the focus distance and aperture that will give the required DoF. Yes, at last, a DoF calculator that can "work backwards!”
* A cinematographer can set the far limit of depth of field to the far end of the set, lock it in place, and then vary any other input (focus distance, near limit of DoF, aperture, focal length), knowing the background will always be sharp.
Explore the app and discover ways of working with depth of field that you never thought possible.
You’ll notice that one or other or both of aperture and focus distance need not be inputs — they can instead be outputs. Depth of field need not be an output — it can be an input. It all depending on what you want the app to do for you.
And you’ll find that everything can be done super-fast (no iterative fiddling to get the output you’re after). Just what a working professional needs!
Notice that the hyperfocal buttons have been removed in this version? That’s great — you can do the same things as before, but now in a much more intuitive manner via the lock feature: To enter Hyperfocal Mode, just slide the far limit pointer to infinity and lock it in place. Or, work a little differently if you like. Consider this: You have focused on an individual who you want to appear absolutely sharp. But you want the horizon behind her to be acceptably sharp. OK, a simple slide of a pointer sets the focus distance. A tap on its lock locks it in place. Slide the far limit pointer to infinity. Instantly, you see what aperture you need to set to get the results you want. Isn’t this ease and speed the sort of thing you want from a calculator? And it’s so nice to find that, because there is usually more than one way to do something, you can work the way you want to work!
There is much else that is new:
* For a cleaner interface, the slider “thumbs” are gone. You now set distances and aperture by directly sliding the pointers. (Note that you do not need to keep your finger on a pointer as you slide it — you can move your finger to the side as you slide, all the better to see where the pointer is pointing.)
* The button for numerical entry of focus distance via keypad has been moved to the left of the screen.
* If you have enabled the diffraction option, you can no longer select small apertures (large f-numbers) that result in so much diffraction that it overwhelms the reduction in defocus blur that small apertures bring.
* A more elegant colour scheme has been adopted. The inputs/outputs that directly correspond to settings that you would make on your camera are designated by discreet red dots. The other critical setting — blur spot diameter (circle of confusion) — is designated by a yellow dot.
* Plus… many other small changes, throughout the app.

Fixed a bug: The hyperfocal function, accessed via the "HF" button, now works properly when a wavelength other than the default value is being used.
Added a warning symbol on the main screen to act as a reminder in cases where you have set a wavelength other than the default value.
Remember, the facility to set wavelength is designed for use by those photographers and cinematographers who are shooting in the infrared (or ultraviolet) part of the spectrum. For all other photography, the default wavelength value should be used.

Redesigned the “Settings” screen: more settings, no clutter.
Refreshed the interface for an even cleaner, more elegant look.
Changed the action of the focal length scroll wheel:
- The scroll wheel now responds much faster when you tap the focal length “Up” and “Down” buttons.
- Scrolling now results in real-time update of depth of field output (rather than having to wait till the wheel settles on your final choice of focal length).
- The wheel no longer free rotates after you stop pushing it.

In response to customer request:
* Added optional input via keypad for focus distance.
* Added numerical readout of near and far limits of depth of field (on the 4 inch screen).
The version that runs on the iPhone 5’s larger screen has longer sliders, making inputs even easier, and also offers a “useful range" option. This indicates the range of apertures that may be used before diffraction starts to reduce depth of field, and also shows the maximum depth of field that can be achieved.
