Unlike 'sobriety-only apps', it works brilliantly whether you want to cut back or try being sober.

Whether you’re taking on Dry January®, doing Sober Spring, trying a sober October, making a longer-term change to your drinking, or just cutting back, Try Dry® is your trusted year-round support system.

starlitdazzle,
Great, wish had US units
I downloaded this app about a year ago & it has been tremendously helpful in my recognition of my alcohol consumption. Other apps track days but this app calculating my alcohol units has been tremendously helpful in my path towards potentially quitting. I’m only giving it 4 stars because the only units are UK units, and maybe that is the only thing that exists, but UK units are 330 mL when a traditional US beer is 12 ounces or 355 mL. Just coming from someone who is obsessively tracking from an Excel and to know my month by month total is off by about 50 units from a year total. So offering US units and also one decimal point would probably help those obsessives when it comes to figures. Otherwise a tremendously helpful app!

Unreliable
In a lot of ways, this is my favorite app to track my “alcohol free days.” It’s wonderfully simple and minimalist, in a way that a lot of other sobriety and habit tracker apps are not. But ultimately, the bugs became too much to overlook. If you accidentally tap “stayed dry,” there’s no way to update it to add your drinks. It LOOKS like the option is there, but nothing happens when you tap it. It was annoying, but I could live with it. The one thing I couldn’t live with, and that led to me deleting the app: it signed me out constantly, and getting back in was a pain, because the app couldn’t correctly access my keychain. A task that should have taken me 2 seconds (logging sober days) routinely took much longer as I had to go hunt down my secure password, copy/paste, type in my email address, etc. There are other apps that do what this one does without the headaches.

Life changing
I’ve never had an app that was life changing, but this one proved to be just that. After using this app for the month of January and using its motivation, support, and solid information I was able to recognize and genuinely change my relationship with alcohol. There’s no going back to the way things were and I’m so grateful. I highly recommend this app to anyone wanting to make a change whether it be taking a break from alcohol, changing drinking patterns, or quitting it all together. I only wish it offered a way to make it any month of the year so the plan could be done anytime of the year.
MurphSG,
Great Customer Service
Loved the idea of this app to make and keep me accountable to my challenge each and every day ... keeps the motivation going!!!

I recently realised that the calendar (iPhone 11) was off. The dates & days did not match. This was a little frustrating for a couple of days bc I love to input that I stayed dry at the end of each day. But after an email to the support group this was put to right in a couple of days. All sorted!!! Impressive 😀.

I am over half way to completing dry January and will continue to use the app to keep my drinking in check!!
star1692,
Great app , best I’ve found so far!
I stumbled across this app, omg , I’m positive for sure I would not be able to do dry Jan without it. I wake up everyday ready to read the wonderful blogs and information about alcohol. Knowledge is power to me. This has really made me open my eyes to what is happening to my body when I consume too much alcohol. The tracking is a great tool, and the journaling helps me be honest with myself. I’m sure this will change my life and the way I view alcohol .I will use this all year to keep track of my consumption and stay healthy ! Thank you so much for creating such a wonderful tool!
Thyan,
Great app has helped me learn about myself
I’ve been concerned my drinking was more than I wanted. I saw this app recommended in an article so I thought I’d give it a go. I’ve got a 28 day streak going and plan to get to the 30 day mark. I’ve learned a lot. My drinking seemed to be more habit driven- go out to dinner, 2 glasses of wine. Friday at home, let’s have wine. I was drinking nearly every day. I’m down about 7lbs now, wake with a clear mind, my skin looks better and I feel like I’m back in control. My question- can I still count my days on the app? I am finding a great deal of value.

Dry January is an annual event these days but this year I wanted to do something different. I wanted to reduce my alcohol intake for life not just a month. I really appreciate the quizzes, articles & tracking calendar. I am so far meeting me goal of reducing my alcohol consumption & it feels great!
I have 2 wishes 1) being able to create my own drink category, for example Hard Seltzer & 2) adding a display of units consumed, not just units saved to the Dashboard.
Thank you for the thought & creativity you have put into this App.
write a review gosh darn it,
Really helpful!
Using the app to reduce how much I drink. It’s been essential to my journey and has illuminated a lot. The only thing I would beg as a change is having the option for the week to start on Sunday instead of Monday. Other than that, which is arguably a small “complaint,” I love it. It’s inclusive of people at any point in their journey/relationship with alcohol, from being/going sober to maintaining/reducing consumption to just tracking for trackings sake. It’s wonderful <3
SmartguyC,
Good app with a Major problem.
I like this app, it helps me keep track of the days I don’t drink. Unfortunately, it logs you out and you cannot get back in. This has happened to me twice in the first few months I’ve used it. First it tells you your password is wrong when it’s not. So you have to go through a reset process. Than it forces you to use a password chosen for you, but still denies you access with a message that it’s unable to find your reset token??? The company is quick to respond to emails, but they can’t seem to permanently fix the problem. How can you be in the App creation business and not mastered the log in process? It baffles the mind!
JulieFaith,
Love the idea of this app
I’ve been using Try Dry for a month. The theory is great but in practice the app needs some work. First, it keeps freezing, like, it won’t even open. The only way to get around that is to delete app and reinstall it. And even then it forgets the most recent entries. Tried to update my goal and drinking habits and same thing happened. Also I don’t think the US calculations works. Pretty sure drinks cost more than the app allows and even so the calculations are off. I did stay dry all month thanks to the calendar (when it worked) so I’m grateful for that but I’ll be looking for a different app to continue my journey. Thanks for getting me started though.
