Description

This app is a Turing Machine Simulator.

Students of computer science and maths are probably familar with Turing Machines, because the Turing Machine is one of the important models when analyzing if mathematical problems or algorithms are computable.

Usually dealing with Turing machines requires paper and pencil for simulating the program execution. This app can help by providing several ways to execute Turing programs and analyze it in an easy and comfortable way.

You can write new programs for the Turing Machine, execute them and analyze the execution even step by step. It's also possible to change the speed of the execution.

It's possible to export and import Turing programs using email.

The app comes with some example Turing programs to play with.

Fixed a bug for turing programs which use a tape that is infinite on both sides. Crossing the starting point of the tape to the left didn't always work correctly.

Fixes a bug which could cause a crash after reseting a turing program. This could happen only when a turing program has written something on a tape (which is infinite on both sides) to the left of the starting position.

Sean Wall,
Really nice Turing simulation
I've tried a few other Turing sims and this one is the best so far. It's pretty flexible and relatively intuitive to operate with decent documentation and links to more information. The examples are pretty neat and are even commented. Overall, a nice app for the price.
MWildcard,
Good program
I can’t put a name for a program I create, and I can’t modify its alphabet. I’m supposed to be able to but the changes are not saved. This surprised me because it’s a sleek app otherwise. I’m hoping this will be fixed quickly and I will revise my rating if so. Not good for a paid app to have showstopper bugs like this.

EDIT: I figured out that I wasn’t tapping DONE. If you edit the name or the alphabet, and tap away to a different section, the changes will be SHOWN on screen still but will not be saved. I still think this is a bug, but there’s a workaround (just tap DONE after each edit) so it’s not a showstopper. Upgrading my rating therefore.
0nXYZ,
Hahaha!!!!
I love that this was made. The interface is easy to use and the execution of programs is very slick.

I wish the author would consider a BrainF&!k interpreter.

Good one on you mate!
Sford,
Wonderful app
I would give it 5 stars except for a bug I found. Bring up the binary number incrementer and on the last step (1, ' ') change the movement from Halt to Left. Then change the tape to "111" and run it. It will correctly increment it to 1000, but when it does that last step, it does not move the head. Not sure why - I e-mailed the author. But the idea to do this is brilliant. Is this the only general programmable app allowed in the store??? I think maybe so!
snbj3141,
Good, but it has a few glitches.
Every time I try to delete an instruction, it exits to the main menu. Other than that, it worked just fine.
Kevin37753,
Very well implemented!
Ok so probably this app won't appeal to the typical app store shopper, but for those who know what this is, this is awesome!

Very good interface, stable and actually fun. Even non-computer scientists who enjoy puzzles would enjoy this.

Great work!
Kakos,
Holy Crap This Is Awesome
This is perhaps the coolest program ever. It works great and it would be extremely effective as a demonstration for teaching. Kudos!
