Description

YOUR MUSIC - YOUR WAY

TuTuneMe is the customizable music player. Control your music with gestures. Choose your music with fewer taps. Liven up your music with album art colors and themes.

TAP, SWIPE, JAM!

Button controls are a hassle when driving, working out, or just sitting at your desk. Instead, control your tunes with gestures: swipe to change songs, tap to play/pause, double-tap for... whatever you want! Easily assign various actions to gestures.

CONTROL YOUR MUSIC - WITH GESTURES

Why hunt for small buttons when your entire screen can be one big touch pad. Tap to play or pause the music. Swipe up and down to change volume or brightness. Swipe album covers to change songs. Pinch to simultaneously resize album art and text for easy-to-read artist, album, song titles. Easily assign various actions to the gestures you want.

CHOOSE YOUR MUSIC - WITH FEWER TAPS

Playlists, Albums, Artists, Songs, Books, and Podcasts are all just a tap away. Lists are searchable. Most have alphabetical index controls, with the current index letter in a large head-up display while scrolling.

COLOR YOUR MUSIC - WITH THEMES + ART

Album art colors can auto-tint the player's background, artist, album, and song title. Or pick a theme to match your mood, your car’s dashboard, or a playlist title. TuTuneMe has many built-in themes, with more online ready to download. Modify or create your own themes to use and share with friends. Choose separate themes for Day and Night.

GREAT FOR THE CAR, GYM, OFFICE, OR ANYWHERE

• Change playlists without leaving the main player screen.
• Use the entire screen as one big touch pad.
• Quick, searchable access to your music.
• Text is large enough to read at a distance.
• Use each song's album art (and/or a theme) to colorize the player.
• Includes many themes to match your car’s dashboard, mood, or playlist.
• Night Mode optionally dims the screen, making it less distracting.
• Works in portrait or landscape (orientations can be locked).

George Soper,
Great with its quirks
Great with the ability to change songs, volume etc with gestures and a display that can be customized to you preferences. A landscape orientation that acts just like the portrait orientation, "what a great idea". Keeps my eyes on the road or trail if I am driving or running. Just a couple of quirks. I have to open the built in music app first to "update the library" or the songs you just added may not be there. The use of a bluetooth headset/headphones that have the ability to change songs or volume will interfere with the gesture recongition. The only way I have found around it is to remove and reinstall the app, then remember to reset the repeats and interfaces to my likings.

Music player with custom gestures
I was looking for a music player I could easily advance/rewind in increments to be able to jump around in recordings. This app let me set up a horizontal two finger swipe to advance/rewind 10 seconds, and a vertical two finger swipe to advance/rewind 30 seconds. I can now easily move around in my recordings.

Finally a Usable Album-oriented App
Okay, as of June 2010 this is the best I've found. Here's why:

1. It's pretty customizable. It's the only app I've been able to adapt to my specific needs.
2. I listen in the car. Although there are a number of car-oriented apps, they are generally playlist/artist oriented.
3. I don't use playlists; I think in terms of Albums and Artists. I want to be able to select an album (or an artist and then an album) safely and easily while driving. This app permits that.
4. I was able to assign an up-swipe to the album list. Perfect. I then pick an album, and the rest of the swipes operate against that album. Now we're cooking.
5. All other features are at least as good as those in other apps. Most are better. Being able to resize the album art, for example, is just good thinking. Lots more of that for your money.
6. Although I don't need the social media integration, some might find it useful. I don't know why I'd expect the world to care what song I'm listening to. But if that's your pleasure, it's in the app.
7. The multiple toolbars are an excellent idea, and can be customized/turned off as needed. This organized the interface nicely. Well-considered UI design is the make or break of an app; these guys are on-track.

So, overall, I believe this is the one I'll be using going forward. 10 bucks, 12 other apps and lots of research precede this decision. Hope the above will help you.

Best App you can get for playing music in Landscape mode
I looked at tons of different apps trying to find one that looked good and allowed me to play my music in landscape mode. This app is simply the best at doing that. Opus worked fairly good but was extremely ugly and doesn't default in gesture mode. I love how it automatically doesn't lock when it's charging and how you can lock it in landscape mode. Searching for artist or albums works great in landscape mode but when you search by song it automatically goes to portrait mode. Not a big deal since I hardly ever search music that way. Also very customizable with lots of themes. Definately the best alternative I've found to the default music player.
BaldGoat,
Close but not quite
When i first got my iPhone I was wishing for an interface that was easier to use. This comes Soooo close, but it's just not quite there.

Some things I'd like to see in a future update.
-- Allow me to set the default panel at the bottom of the screen. I'm not going to use the control panel day-to-day so let me set it to the scrubber, volume or whatever.
-- Allow me to set a gesture for going forward or backward in the timeline. While listening to a podcast, the iPod app gives you a small button for jumping back 30 seconds in the timeline. That button doesn't exist in Tutuneme and there isn't a way to set a gesture for the same functionality. I'd rather be able to do an actual scrub of the timeline - forward or back - with a gesture.
-- I don't know why, but it lists every episode of every podcast into one big list instead of grouping them together like the iPod app does. If you listen to a lot of podcasts, like I do, that list is a bit overwhelming and difficult to navigate.

My advice, don't buy this until they've either lowered the cost to $.99 or added these features.

Dr.A.,
I really love it.
Watched the video at the website, that was the deal closer for me. Its difficult to see what the app does just from screen shots and the video shows how things work and look. I like the playlists being at the top since thats what how I'm usually listening to music. I drive a lot and like to keep my eyes on the road and the swiping motion to change songs and playlists allows me to skip ahead, which I just didn't do before. Thats the one thing I dislike about the iphone versus my old ipod, the iphone doesn't have any tactile buttons.
PureBlender,
How to fix odd behavior
If you experience crashes or other odd behavior with the TuTuneMe app, just run the built-in iPod app once, then run the TuTuneMe app again.

It seems that the iPhone/iPod touch internal music library sometimes needs updating after an iTunes sync, and that only the built-in iPod app knows how to do that.

I run TuTuneMe all day long and the only crash I've ever had was after an iTunes sync. Sure enough, when I ran the built-in iPod app after the sync, the iPod app displayed a message that the music library needed repair. After the repair, TuTuneMe ran just fine.
jeff_nyc,
Finally... a brilliant way to control my music! This is great!
I think that this is far and away the easiest way to control iTunes. I really love being able to have complete control of just about everything with just a simple tap or movement of my fingers. There are gestures to do just about anything, and it's fun to be able to customize the skins and share them. I'm hooked!
Jeffm8888,
Almost, but too inconsistent
I like the customizable themes and the switching between day and night. Also like the large type, which is great for the car. Finally, however, it's a bit iffy as a music player. When I play my entire library on shuffle, the tune changes but the screen doesn't. It's also very easy to get bumped out of the playlist you're in and sent to another. No support e-mail address to ask anyone about this. A shame because it really has a lot of nice features, which will make me try it a bit longer before I abandon it completely.
Leo Thor,
Lacks an easy way to Fast Forward/Backward
I'm a listener to recorded books and I purchased this app to assist me while I drive.
I found out that when listening to a recorded book, it's a lot worse than using the native GUI because it does not allow me to FF/FB and if I'm not careful, it flips me out of the book and into one of my songs. It's also impossible to jump chapters in the book (what the native GUI lets you do when you press the FF/FB buttons momentarily). I guess it's good for playing songs but for books it's terrible!
