You get to play with real players, and the game play is straightforward. Sure, there are annoying players sometimes, but there are others who will challenge you or be good sports. Also, there are always plenty of tables open if the one you're at doesn't suit you (and it's easy to change). If there's offensive language, you can just mute chat. I'm happy with the experience they've created with this game.

Simplicity is good in these days of over-gamified cartoon-heavy cleavage-dealer poker nonsense. It’s just straightforward and I like that. The visual design is great, and I especially like the look of the face cards. Playing real people is also Great. But there could be more/better features like gifting, mucking, names longer than 10 characters, avatar uploads, and most importantly for me - permanent on-screen chat.
Currently I think the character limit on-screen is about 25 characters, so your message gets cut off - but the rest of it is in a very hidden chat stream, which you can’t pin to the screen. Trying to type anything longer usually means your turn interrupts you and the autocorrect is so aggressive it becomes gibberish. And it censors regular non-offensive words (very) randomly: Tonight I discovered that “u keep” becomes “u*****p”. Why? I have NO idea. Try it, it’s nutty.
Look, trash talk and/or conversation is part of the game, and here’s where VIP poker fails hard. You don’t have to be mean or use swears to do it, so I dunno why VIP decided to kill any semblance of a functional chat widget, and it’s making me sad. I can see this app getting boring after a while, which isn’t what ‘simple’ has to be.

My dad is getting older and I bought him an a tablet years ago hoping that he would it to download apps to challenge his mind but he doesn’t want to use it for hardly anything but playing this outdated and simplistic game.
What makes it worse is that he must be horrible at playing it because he usually loses all or most of his chips.
He usually can’t remember how many chips he has from day to day so I’ll try to win him some without him knowing. Sometimes I’m not able to so then I have to buy chips to help him out.
I can’t buy chips on his account because he’s on a fixed income and he would go crazy if there was a charge for purchasing chips. I’m guessing and at least for me, I’ve notice purchasing chips will cause a lot more losses since they know the people who purchase chips will purchase more when they have lost all of there chips versus the people who play and never purchase chips.
Well I wasn’t doing any harm to anyone but purchasing chips for my elderly dad but now they’ve decided to “crack down” on a major threat to society so now I can’t donate money to them.
Do you really think I’m the loser here?
Well anyway if you want to check if I’m right or not, purchase some chips and just see if from now on there is a built in algorithm that greatly increase your odds of losing much more often than you do now.
I’ll just need to check my Apple Pay history to find the amount I’ve paid so they can reimburse me

Game is rigged in that if you don’t purchase chips you can only win up to a point! Should be stated by the developer (who of course should earn money for their work!). Some of the ‘results’ of individual games are ludicrous…..pay real good attention and you’ll see patterns that NEVER occur in REAL poker. And if you don’t purchase chips you’ll see loses on the river that are the result of the algo HAVING to make you lose because you’re not on the ‘paid’ list. Why do I Play? To see to what extent the algo will go to fulfill its instructions…..many laughs! Also, some of the ‘players ‘ at times are obviously the algo! Update: discarded it from all of my machines. Garbage app that Apple should not allow. NOTE: this app is designed to promote chip purchases…its ‘algo’ will show its hand! Watch the number of ‘River Wins’…you will see. Better (neutral) apps are out there….

You target accounts and have control over who wins and loses. You know exactly who sits where and if by chance you don’t like what a player chats you silence them. So many nice kind fun players have been silenced for the most ridiculous reasons. You silenced all my devices and had to write an email telling you I haven’t been playing on one of my devices to get my chat back. Lucky for me you gave me my chat back on that device!! This use to be a fun game but not anymore. I have brought to your attention cheaters on numerous occasions and even reported a hacker, which in your email confirmed was a hacker. I continue to see cheaters on these tables and it is so obvious but have come to the point now not reporting them, I don’t care anymore!!! I’ve been playing this game I believe for 12 years and when I lose all my chips I will delete this app!!! C’est la vie

I honestly believe VIP poker is the best poker game available. It is a very easy game to visualize when you’re playing it. It is not complicated by a lot of bad artwork, and it is nicely designed in so far as you don’t get involved with many intricate outside communication influences. So you can play without confusion. Yes, there are annoying players....slow play is common....arrogant play is also often a pain, but by in large, players will play the game to win tokens and keep the game interesting and fun to play. The support staff is friendly and ready to help if and when a problem occurs, which I have found is very infrequently.

Keep in mind that the aim of the app for the developer is to entice players to purchase chips. Have you noticed that too often you are dealt with the winning hand of the previous round or your previous hand is the winning hand of the current round? When that happens just leave the table, the algo is working on you (to seduce you keep betting). Since the card dealing happens on the server it can be fine tuned at anytime. In a promotional period it is often tuned for drama (eg “good hands” are dealt to multiple players) to create excitement and frustration (with the hope that it can translate into chip purchases). However the developer should have learned that such tricks can never go far. To make this app big it needs be real.

If you have to buy chips it’s because you don’t know how to play poker. In 5 years I’ve been up and I’ve been down, just like my Vegas cash games that I also play regularly.
Support responded to me in less than 24 hrs and solved my problem right away. Maybe you shouldn’t cuss them out when you send a request?

I recently purchased a new iPad. When downloading account from the cloud all of my chips, 2.1 billion disappeared. I sent an email to tech support and within a day received a kind email requesting confirmation of who I was and my chips were restored immediately. I had read about poor support, but my issue was resolved quickly with professionalism and courtesy.

It’s basic, yes, and that’s good. None of the fantasy world weirdness of other poker apps. All of the complaints about it being rigged are nonsense. I started playing this in 2013 with 50k chips, and have worked that up to over 1 million in ten years without ever buying more chips. I play here like I play irl, I don’t make stupid bets. That’s the key.
