Description

VISCompass enables visually impaired sailors, in partnership with a sighted skipper, to helm a boat by receiving steering instructions as audio signals. It has been developed by Sporting Activities for the Disabled and extensively tested for use in dinghies, yachts and motorboats. VISCompass does not enable visually impaired sailors to sail solo, it is only to be used with the assistance of a sighted skipper.

Our focus in VISCompass 1.2 has been to improve the interface based on user feedback. The on-course sound selection has been made easier to change and enhanced with an option to speak the current heading. The interface layout has also been improved and more labels added. We have also added a direct link to improved online documentation.
