Description
Walking Museum brings home the art wonders of Flemish masters, currently displayed in museums all over the world.
We allow you take them "for a walk" outside the museum's walls. Hence our name - Walking Museum.
Reproductions of the paintings are displayed outdoors in and around cities and come to life through augmented reality (AR).
Our App, on your smart phone, permits the addition of a third dimension to the displays, bringing objects and scenes to life, allowing you to see an enhanced AR version of these wonderful images.
The very first stop for Walking Museum is the picturesque medieval town of Damme, where ten reproductions of famous masterpieces by Pieter Bruegel and other famous painters are displayed.
Experience how the legend of Tijl Uilenspiegel comes to life in this project.
Tijl Uilenspiegel, "son” of Damme, is the legendary hero of the novel by Charles de Coster. His adventures take place in the 16th century, a dark period for Flanders under Spanish rule.
This is much the same period during which Bruegel's famous paintings were created. His works perfectly sketch the world of Tijl Uilenspiegel, thus these two complement each other in a very interesting and unexpected way.
Walking Museum has created a modern IT tool that will allow you to discover the paintings in an exciting new way. The depicted characters will come to life, by means of AR, telling the story of Tijl Uilenspiegel.
Download our free App and you will be ready to enjoy some of the mysteries of medieval Flanders.
