Description

Wana is a community platform that fosters hope, direction, and healing for people with chronic and invisible illnesses. Think of us like the social network for health, specifically designed to help the millions of people who live with conditions like Lyme disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, Crohn’s disease, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, endometriosis, and POTS, among many others. No matter what chronic or invisible illness you face, Wana will remind you – every time you log on – that you are not alone.

Wana was built by a team of people who live with chronic and invisible conditions and understand what our community members are going through. Our founders met by chance and connected over their shared health stories: mysterious symptoms, frustrating misdiagnoses, and a sense of isolation. As they bonded over their symptoms, shared advice about treatments, and supported each other in finding answers, their health challenges became a lot less overwhelming. They got better, together.

Wana was created for people like you and people like us. It’s the answer to the confusion, overwhelm, and loneliness that often comes with living with an invisible or chronic condition. At Wana, illness doesn't isolate us – it connects us. Whatever your health story looks like, you belong on Wana.

Njgeeky,
Not as many Zebras!
It’s a new app so we have to give it to time, but the selections are lacking for my fellow zebras. If you are one, you know what I mean.

Couldn’t find majority of information for my major condition and had to type it in with a message that they’d approve it. Eek, I hope you’re not going to be part of those weird people who insist my illness doesn’t exist... the “things that helped you” list is also lacking. Sorry but not all of us have been helped by homeopathic remedies. And then there are some like me who use a combination of both based off of years of research and trials. Also just the fact I individually responded to it. More options? We’re sick and disabled. While you’re offering a lot of choices, this still barely scratches the surface!

I’m still willing to give this 4 stars. Design is good, no errors I encountered, and it’s easy to use. Just remember the rest of us zebras will you?
kstp24,
Awesome!!
Edit: Thank you SO MUCH for finally adding a Notification Center! 😊

This app has already been a lifesaver and game changer for me! 🥺💗 I am a late 20s female with CFS/ME, fibromyalgia, endometriosis, severe depression & anxiety, Sjögren’s syndrome, hEDS, and dysautonomia. It’s been a really tough past 10 years and doesn’t seem to get any easier (although, you would think it would). I have been wanting an app like this for a long time and was so excited to download The Mighty, but some conditions and symptoms aren’t discussed as much there. While I still enjoy The Mighty, the community at Wana seems much more interactive and helpful. The one thing I would greatly enjoy is being able to search for people by location and to see other spoonies nearby (even merely showing people that have made their general location public would be nice). There might be a way to do this, but I have not figured it out. Other than that, five stars for this app. It rocks, and I know it will just keep on improving. Thank you so much for creating this gem for us “spoonies”! 🥄🥰
grellr,
???
To get to the point, this app is a mixed bag. On one hand, it can be extremely useful for people with chronic illnesses that limit social interaction. However, it can be a little sus in some areas. Most accounts are of people just wanting access to a support group, but I came across a few where someone had a laundry list of diagnoses, and even more symptoms (almost all of the selectable symptoms). These people may actually be suffering from a host of illnesses, and if so, I genuinely feel for them, but the problem is there's no way to know for sure. Is the person claiming that essential oils cured their tachycardia legit, or are they someone with no medical training who is self-diagnosing themselves with every condition under the sun? Who knows! It also seems irresponsible of the app creators to provide a platform for "cures" that have been repeatedly disproven, and in several cases can cause actual harm. Please, fact check these treatments with your doctor. TL:DR, this app is good in theory, but not 100% in execution. I hope that they improve the app because I really do want this to exist.

The Most Incredible Community App
I had been looking for an app like this for many years. I have had symptoms of fatigue, dizziness and fainting since 2017. I went to numerous doctors but they could not find anything wrong with me. I felt hopeless and lost.
Wana was referred to me by a friend and I am so grateful for her everyday. It has really changed my life. This platform has given me the sense of community and hope that I was missing.
I realized that there are so many people out there dealing with the same issues and are looking for people to talk to about it. This app also offers numerous resources for education on health topics so that you can really get in touch with what is going on in your body.
Thank you Wana team for recognizing this missing link of connection and developing an incredible platform and community.

Truly Eye-Opening
This app has been so, so eye opening and helpful to me as I continue to heal from Lyme disease. Not only has the app showed me I am not alone, it has offered solutions and provided potential therapy paths I had never heard of! Wana provides a wonderful forum-based platform to share ideas and emotions for individuals in similar situations. Glad to be a Wana user and I recommend it to anyone who is dealing, has dealt with, or has a family member dealing with any isolating diagnosis or chronic illness. There are so many potential solutions and Wana has a library with therapy options for those that feel they’ve exhausted options through traditional, Western medicine. Wana is by far the best app I’ve discovered in 2020!
Rubekog,
Fills the demand
I searched the Internet forums for the past decade looking for support groups that encompassed a lot of my symptoms. A friend of mine turned me to WANA and I’ve been hooked ever since. I like the layout, it’s very interactive and connects you with ppl on similar journeys. Whether it’s advice or emotional support, WANA fills the void. I think there is a huge demand for something like this, given that there currently is a large uptick in chronic health conditions (especially invisible ones). We feel unheard and marginalized, and to be able to voice our feelings and opinions to a group of people that are going through it themselves is a huge relief.

Thanks to the founders and everyone working on this app 🙏

This App Will Change Your Life For The Better
I downloaded this app because I have a chronic illness and I didn't have anyone who understood me. Not only did I gain some good friends. But the founders of wana and people who designed the app also reach out to you and the entire community. I also love how this app isn't judgemental and no matter what color or what you believe in them except everyone. Wana isn't just a community. It's a family and no matter what you're going through you can speak your mind and thoughts in a safe place. Come hang out and join me and lots of others. I can't wait to meet you and hear your thoughts if you decide to join us.
thing119,
Such a Supportive Network!
I downloaded Wana recently and I can already see the positive impact it has had on my life.

I love communicating with the other users on Wana, who are inclusive, kind, open, and very willing to be helpful to all in any way they can. It is a space where I feel very safe to ask questions about my personal health, and can trust I will receive genuine advice/resources.

My interest in alternative treatment methods has grown recently, and I can say with confidence that Wana is a great place to learn about the world of options available for any medical condition. Especially through recommendations of the member community, but also the in-app WanaLibrary.

Wana is a platform for everyone, not just people who experience severe medical issues. We can all benefit from a heightened awareness of ways to improve our overall health.

I encourage everybody to download this app- especially during Covid-19 times, when personal health has become a main concern! 100%.

Good idea, Poorly Executed
Great idea in theory, but the finite list of conditions and treatments is incredibly frustrating, and there should be a “write-in” option. The search feature is also very counterintuitive, as instead of letting you search for keywords or phrases, the system only allows you to search for items from the pull down menus. It would really be helpful to search for keywords found in other posts, as well as medications or specialists.

The other frustrating part of this app is that the list of “treatments” are almost entirely homeopathic, which is great, except there are almost no chemo/ prescription treatments listed, which is what most people with chronic conditions are dealing with. It would be nice to hear other people’s experiences with certain medicines, but the limited search feature does not allow this.
ViannyGuevara,
The Support We All Need
I’ve always been a firm believer in having a community and support system around you at all times. Wana provides that during a time when human interaction has been limited to a virtual world. Finding people across time and space who have gone through what you’ve went through, or currently going through, gives validity to you and the voice you find to speak up and express yourself. I highly recommend this app for those of us who feel that they are experiencing life on their own - you are not alone and Wana helps remind you of that!
