Description

Whether you have respiratory issues or are simply curious about the state of various pollutants (including effects from neighboring wildfires) in northern Nevada, WashoeAir has you covered.

With easy-to-read, color-coded information (sourced from government agencies such as the EPA, WCAQMD, and NDEP), you'll be able to tell at a glance whether conditions warrant closer inspection or not.

If you reside in Washoe County and have a wood-burning source of heat, you'll appreciate seeing the current burn code declarations during the periods that information is available.

Version history

2.1.1
2020-09-23
In 2.1.1:

• With all the horrible air quality, lately, we missed a border color on the gauge in the case of Good and Moderate! Not the end of the world but the rows will stand out better on Green and Yellow days now.
• Fixed the variable "black screen" on startup while initial location is determined
• Incorporated some of the common changes and minor bug fixes made for the AQeye tvOS app to keep everything consistent

In 2.1:

• Rethought the data presentation to now include more context
-- the Air Quality Index scale is right on the screen
-- current values shown both numerically and graphically within the overall scale
-- source is now prominently displayed since some data locations (such as State of Washington) report customized values on the same overall scale

• Squashed pesky bugs like:
-- not recognizing the locale properly on initial install to know whether you prefer Fahrenheit or Celsius.
-- where, if you watched the screen for hours, the background image fetch would eventually cause a crash. What, you're NOT that enthralled with the photography where you forget to look away?

2.0

Welcome to the all new WashoeAIR!

Some things that have changed:

• The platform has been rewritten from scratch in order to support more users and more features faster and more simply.
• There's a new visual layout that includes even more information about active pollutants (when available).
• There's clearer control over notifications.

In 1.3:

• Fixed an issue where air quality data would appear to "randomly" be unavailable.
• NOTE: This is expected to be the final pre-iOS 11 release.

In 1.2.2.201

• Fixed an issue relating to the unavailability of certain Washoe County data during the summer.

In 1.2.2

• Fixed a text overlap issue on the settings screen (iOS7/4" display)

• Fixed a text sizing issue when the air conditions are "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups" and there are Washoe County Burn Codes

In 1.2.1

• Modified the Review Request process slightly to allow permanent opt-out ("Don't show me again") on the 2nd showing. It turns out that if you leave a review "outside" (that is, without clicking on the alert), it continues to ask. Sorry for the inconvenience!

In 1.2

Thank you to EVERYONE who left a review! This update is for you.

• New Settings options!
• Notifications: General frequency has been reduced. Current state of app notifications are presented in the settings page. Thanks to Lauren, Jasper, and everyone else who noted the unintentional volume of alerts.
• Option for Light/Dark text - thanks "So Reno"!
• Landscape mode (iPad only) - thanks, Chmnk!
• New option to manually enter zip code, so if you want to see data from elsewhere (assuming data is available), you can! Thanks ch@rle5!
• Incorporation of the NDEP (Nev. Dept. of Environ. Protection) data. If your current location is identified as (or manually input for) Carson City, Fernley, or Fallon, you can get near-realtime data that's local to you!
• Return of the Washoe County Burn Codes. If you're in Washoe County and burn solid-fuel for heat and/or ambiance, you care about the Burn Code program from the Air Quality District. That information has returned to the app and is now available at a glance.
• Miscellaneous bug fixes

In 1.1.2

• Misc bug fixes including an intermittent crash on startup and improper color coding for AirNow data events
• Tweaked the information layout on iPhone to make it larger and easier to read
• Changed O3 label to Ozone to more fully name the value

In 1.1.1:

• Prevented a rare but annoying crash involving AirNow data delivery
• Re-branded throughout - new logos, new graphics

In 1.1:

• Native iPad support!
• Social sharing! Facebook, Twitter, email... just a tap away.
• More detailed breakdown of AQI information when available (Ozone and Particles)
• Miscellaneous bug fixes

J Bott clean air advocate,
There is a long delay of 3-4 hours because when wildfires hit and you smell them
Wildfire smell indicates a 4 hour delay before the result are reported. Wind conditions should be included so one can determine if things will get worse or better. Sometimes there aren’t any results for days. Needs some tweaking but the concept is important
Mama2fourloves,
Info available when you need it.
Some of the add backgrounds are too busy, it makes it not as easily read. But the information is great to have at your fingertips particularly during fire season (and inversion time too I'm sure).
NVgirl3854,
Good app😀
This app is good
Justthetix,
Love it
I'm outside every day and with one click I can see the temperature plus the air quality. Easy to use.

Difference
Why are the numbers different on every AQI
Site I look at. And they really lag at least a half an hour from actual conditions.
Zippy775,
Apple weather app even better!
Horrible inaccurate app! Even the standard iphone weather app gets more frequent and accurate air quality results. Half the time this apps air quality readings aren’t even available.
S1yk,
Works
Ui is different but it works!
LanceP,
Air Quality
Please fix the the air quality data link. The app only displays temperature. This app is worthless until this is fixed.

LMcKusky,
Excellent resource
As an asthmatic and allergy-sufferer, I am always checking the air quality, especially since I walk most days. I didn't know there was an app for this, but I'm glad there is and I like getting the push notices too!
