Description
Explore hydraulic fracturing wells near you, and the ingredients they use, with Well Explorer. Whether you're a community member, private well owner, or researcher, you can use Well Explorer to browse an expanse of hydraulic fracturing wells and their chemical ingredient information from across the United States. It can be used to identify specific toxic ingredients utilized in hydraulic fracturing wells near you so you can know possible contaminants that may be in your own private well or water source.
Specifically, WellExplorer offers 3 distinct features: Zip Searcher, Ingredient Explorer, and Map Explorer. Zip Searcher allows you to search for wells by zip code, or any other location, and returns information about the closest wells to your entered location. Clicking on a well result then leads you to more in-depth well information and a list of ingredients utilized at that well. Ingredient Explorer allows you to browse the 1,267 unique ingredients that are used in hydraulic fracturing wells around the country so you can determine which are of most concern to you. You can filter your search and also select an ingredient to see more information as well as a list of protein targets (proteins that could be affected if the ingredient is ingested -- more applicable to researchers / science professionals), if available for that ingredient. Finally, Map Explorer allows you to also browse hydraulic fracturing wells across the country in a more visual and geographic-centered way.
