Greg-e-G,
Free Form Spicy Aural Sandwich
A radio station where the DJ’s play whatever their hearts direction takes them. No ads, no hype, listener supported, from Soul to Reggae to Punk to Jazz to spoken word to Hippie Noise to EDM to Industrial Avant Garde to Cult Favorites to Norwegian Death Metal to Polkas to old Country to the noise your spouse makes when he or she catches you doing your secret thing. Plus the App allows you to access their endless archived shows, post to current show’s chat board where often there is real time DJ interaction. If that’s not enough, they also have alternative live streams available to listen if what is currently playing tightens one’s undies. All that and a spicy aural sandwich,... you have nothing to lose and a cosmic musical universe to gain.!
Bill O'Basket,
New update makes downloading a pleasure
I have always been happy with this free app that (essentially) provides a free music service. I am also a donating supporter of the radio station, as everyone should be who downloads this app.

How nice that the app’s periodic updates have always provided well needed improvements. I very much appreciated the addition of dark mode a while back, for example. This latest update allows me to download archived shows without forcing the app into the player mode (which required navigating back to the show archive page—a little tedious). This is a tremendous improvement, and I very much appreciate WFMU for continually updating the app.
Cmine615,
Well developed app, even better radio
From an app perspective, which this is, it's been very well developed and extremely reliable and well laid-out. I've been using this app to stream this radio station consistently, for more than a few years. I can honestly say this app has crashed only maybe once or twice, and the stream never ever unexpectedly loses its stream for any reason, other than reception issues due to my location.

The ability to save shows for later listening is a great idea.

Support free form radio, keep these guys and gals on the air, and if you're feelin groovy check out the rock n soul ichiban stream!
Mcccc3333,
Download it for loads of listening fun right now
WFMU is unique and superior to any other radio station, music service, or corporate entity you currently use. Empirically, in the truest sense.
This is people, mostly volunteers(young, old, and in between)who have been on the scene for a long time. They play music the they want to play, not something dictated by an algorithm or some other faceless unknown. They take no corporate money of any kind, instead relying solely on donations of listeners.
I learn about new bands and artists from these wonderful people. They are truly one of the real and genuine things left out there in the world of media.
Go ahead and listen. The app works perfectly, is designed as simple and easy to use, and you can listen to any past shows in the archives whenever you want. Support them and donate if you're able.

This station truly makes my life better.
Lou Sutter,
Would be dead without WFMU
Been listening for over 20 years and have so much thank WFMU for, the best freeform and all around radio on the planet! Making mornings fun on my way to work, singing and laughing along in my car...parties of 1 & 20, dazzled and dancing in tha house to the mystical, magical ear worms I would never have known otherwise! Donate to their amazing institution so they can exist as long as you are alive to enjoy the sounds of wonder that omit from them!
World Famous Original,
Station - Amazing. App - Rough
Navigation is confusing - no way to read a playlist without playing the episode. Hard to tell what a show is all about. I would have each show with an intro icon you could scroll through, clickable genres too maybe so it’s easy to find all the shows that play punk? Each archived episode could have a simple page with a description and playlist listened and a play button, rather than having to start playing to read a playlist. Still enjoying!
MC Wiener,
A fine app for the best radio station on Earth
Little more needs saying, other than that the linked playlists for some shows, enabling immediate listening of specific songs from archived shows, is GREAT. One small suggestion: it would be v nice to have more expansive archives easily available through the app! If you listen to WFMU, your life WILL be better! (Longggggggg time listener & unabashed fan here, Jersey Shore ex-pat)
Twofoldpath,
Actually so great!
The radio station is great. Truly free form local radio. Have loved it for a decade. This app is wonderful, though! Much more than a simple stream! So many options! It's really quite feature packed. It could really be a general platform for Internet radio generally...it's just so good. Live show chat, archived shows, playlist, schedule, sharing, favoriting songs...it's really something else. Yet still simple and well designed!
DeanDTSM,
Content deserves 10 stars
WFMU is the best radio station in the country. I have absolutely no complaints about the content. The app could use some work though. Crashes too often, and pausing is almost pointless because it rarely holds your place. BUT you can listen to the station both live and literally decades worth of archives, so a bit of inconvenience is forgiven.
Anonymous Viewer 4!!!!!!!!,
Love Dis Station!!!!!!!
Every morning before school when I wake up I become a MINI GLISTENER. I love Wake ‘n’ Bake and Double Dip Recess. I hope this radio station continues for as long as eternity. I wish dat there were more games on the shows. I only hear games on Wake and bake and would like people to start getting into the spirit of games. Also on Wake ‘n’ Bake they should have questions that us kids would know. The only other thing I have to say is HAPPY NEW YEAR AND KEEP GLISTENING TO WFMU AND 91.1 FM!
