Great distraction for toddlers
This is essentially a digital storybook with music for little kids. My 2-year-old daughter enjoys it a lot, and the interactive features (e.g., sliding the bus doors open and shut) are simple enough to pick up quickly. I use this frequently at restaurants and other public places when my daughter gets antsy/bored and I need to settle her down with a distraction. Recommended (along with other apps from Duck Duck Moose, like Old MacDonald).

P.S. The latest update fixed my only pet peeve about the program by allowing removal of the music control button (which is easy to press by accident and opens a kid-unfriendly menu).
Chacoh19,
Literally the best app ever
BUS is literally the best app ever created. I cannot imagine a more soothing, reassuring, educational, and interactive experience. I cannot recommend highly enough; without BUS, my life would become a shallow, empty husk of its former self. It has soothed me for over a decade. Thank you, Duck Duck Moose— I am forever in your debt.

Excellent App for Toddlers
Duck Duck Moose has some really cool apps that very well illustrated. You can search for just that company in the App Store and pull up what they have. The Bus app is great for the 1½ to 3 year old set—right at their ability and comprehension level. The app goes through the verses of the song. Each verse has its own page, and on each page there are several things to touch. There are also some added creative versus such as "The baker on the bus says have some cake..." On the baker's page, you touch the baker to make him offer some cupcakes. Touch the frog to have his tongue come out and steal a cupcake. The monkey drops down from the roof of the bus and takes a cupcake. It is set to some nice music, and there are excellent options. Five languages are offered, including male and female options for English, plus creative options like piano trio, duet, kazoo, and gibberish. The best feature of the whole app though is that you can record yourself singing the song! It takes you through verse by verse and records you singing along to the music. Especially great for daddies and mommies who travel!
aussieflyer,
fantastic for small children
I bought this app on a whim before flying to Australia alone with a 17 month old. I had all the distractions in the world, but it was this app that saved my sanity on the flight! She continues to love it and ask for it, and it often buys us that 5 minute window while waiting in restaurants or airports.
This is one of the few apps that works well for quite small children without much parental help - there are plenty of others that she will grow into but she can work this one herself now, and she needs help with most others.
As many others have said, it is really an interactive songbook, but very well done with lovely graphics and intuitive characters - she worked out how to make most of them "go" without me. My only request would be the ability to "lock" the home button, as she presses it and exits the app when she doesn't really want to.
I just found the other DDM apps, and I'll be buying all of them for my next trip too, thank you.
FWT,
Lots of fun!
(Review of version 1.0, January 27th, 2009) Our two kids, 1 1/2 and just short of 6, really enjoy this little app. The graphics and music are very well done; it feels well thought-out and professional. Each verse ("the people on the bus," "the wipers on the bus," etc.) get its own page and its own interactive features (swipe across the screen to wipe the wipers... slide the bus' door open, etc.) and you can move back and forth or replay the sections easily, you don't need to go through the entire song (the arrows you see at the bottom left and right of the pictures take you to the next or previous verse). If you've got little kids, this is a good buy.
_paul,
Fun for kids of all ages ;)
I was lucky enough to buy Wheels on the Bus while it was on sale, but now that we have played with it I know that it is worth many times is $2.99 price in entertainment and learning. Each of the screens is cleverly animated, and there are a number of amusing actions for our little friends to discover. Also, in addition to english, spanish, french and german version of the song, there is a nice instrumental played on a cello and, best of all, a recording capability so you can record your own. I'm always on the lookout for innovative toys and games to make sure I stay #1 most popular uncle, so thanks to Duck Duck Moose for making my job easier.
Mom2greatKIDS,
Great for Little Users (2 and under)
My 1 1/2 year old loves this app!! And I do too! Love: multiple languages, music, and ability to record myself (or get his older brother involved and record him singing the song). Suggestions: Make the go to the next page buttons neon and slightly larger for little fingers!
Love this app... like the fact that I can change the voices when it is getting on my nerves!!! Entertains very well - and he loves the interaction on every page! Appriciate the new fix - remove the change lang button to the start of the app (he kept accidently hitting the button all the time).
Urban Mom,
Buy for the English version only!
This is a cute app, but not anywhere as original or creative as the "itsy bitsy spider" by the same creators. In spite of that, If your kid likes "the wheels on the bus", they will enjoy this app and it's well worth the 99 cents.

The foreign language versions, however, are so bad that they are laughable! It's the same poor sap singing in every language and he obviously has no idea what he is attempting to sing. I applaud The creators for the idea of offering different languages, but they should have an English- only 99 cents version and then a more expensive multi-language version, in which they hire singers in each native language to sing. This poor guy sounds pathetic in French and his Italian version is incomprehensible!
alancookie,
Great App
My daughter, who just turned 2, loves this application. We've had the app since it was released 5 months ago and she still giggles when interacting with the animations. She is just now able to quit and launch applications on her own and has picked up ho to navigate/advance the pages of this application. A feature I like allows you to record your own voice so my daughter can hear me singing the lyrics (otherwise you have a variety of vocal/music tracks to select from, including several different languages). I'd recommend this for any child who loves this song.
