Description

With Widgy, your home and lock screens becomes YOUR screens. You can make any kind of widget imaginable that perfectly matches the rest of your aesthetics. All the information you need can be easily surfaced through a widget that you designed. You don't have to clutter your screen with the information you don't want, it's just what you want, how you want it.

• It's simple to make a widget •

You don't need to be a professional designer, you just need to know what you want. Once you figure that out, it's a matter of letting your creativity flow. Just add an element, pick a data source, throw on some effects, and put it where you want. Then repeat to add another element. After a while, you'll have a perfect widget, and all you need to do is to assign it to a widget slot and drop it on your home screen. There it is, marvelous!

The Widgy editor only has two parts. The preview and the layer list. When editing a layer, you get a couple of different sections that let you tweak the appearance and data of that layer. Each section has several special things you can do to the layer. The Preview will always show you a live display of exactly how the widget will look on your home screen, so you don't have to constantly go back and forth between the editor and home screen.

• Everything you need •

Widgy provides all the different elements that you would ever need to make your widget perfect. Along with that, there are all the data sources you could ever need, everything from system info to weather. And with all these data sources, there are several ways to display the data, whether it's a text, a nice chart, or something else.

• There's no limits •

This isn't an app full of templates, everything is 100% customizable and interchangeable. It's your widget, and you choose how to make it. The only limit is your imagination.

• Sharing and discovering is easy •

You can privately share widgets with your friends or publicly with all Widgy users, all with a couple of taps. You can share your widget as a URL, QR Code, JSON data, a file, or you can publish it to be shown in the Explore section for all the Widgy users to see.

Other than the Explore section, Reddit (r/Widgy) and Discord communities have produced thousands of Widgy widgets so far. So if you just want to browse widgets or if you need some inspiration you can get that too!

NOTE: Widgy optionally integrates with Apple Health. This integration is used to display your data if you select one of those widget types. Permission for Widgy to access this data is controlled through the Apple Health app.

As with Health, all other permissions for Widgy are optional and are there just to show you the data you want to be displayed.

2.2
2023-02-24
• Support Renewed to iOS 14.2

Starting off this update is new support for older devices running any iOS all the way back to iOS 14.2.

Do note that some widgets using those features newer than your OS may not work as expected and that is completely normal.

• 300+ Brilliant, New Fonts

Widgy 2.2 comes with 300+ new fonts. The app can now handle this many fonts because of some memory improvements when generating the widget previews.

Some highlights of these are the iOS 16 Lock Screen fonts (specifically Soft, Rails and Stencil), BPdots, and ColorTube (as well as other colored fonts), but of course there are many more.

SF Symbols, Font Awesome, and Material Icons also got updated, so now Widgy has more variants of those. One notable one, Font Awesome Brands is now available, and it has a wide variety of brand logos that are worth exploring. Smart Symbols have also been added for Agenda Completed Today/Tomorrow.

• Tap Actions 2.0

The Action tab of a Tap Action has been redesigned to allow for some new features:

Widget Action is the main thing that the widget does to itself. If that doesn't make any sense, it's either Reload Widget, Button or Nothing. So if you set this to reload widget, then it will reload. A button could switch views or hide sensitive data...

External Action is the external thing, like a redirect. It can be used to open a URL, RSS feed, another app, run a shortcut, or just return to the home screen when you tap on the widget. You could pair a reload with a return for what used to just be Reload Widget. You could also disable Wifi and hide your RSS feed in one tap.

Play Sound is brand new and self-explanatory. Your tap action can now play a sound when you disable WiFi and hide your RSS feed. All the sounds available are from the iOS sound library. Do note you do need your ringer on for these to play.

Vibrate is also brand new and also self-explanatory. This one also has many options from the basic vibration intensity to the various taptic patterns and strengths.

• The Emboss Effect

You can now emboss many of the layers in the effects tab. You can pick the colors, angle and amount.

• New Automation View & Video Preview Lengths

The timeline view new looks significantly better and more organized, so that you can see what specifically is going on with each animation. The automation graph in both the timeline view and the animator video also were redesigned. This should help all of the animators and animations from the very simple to the ones where every minute is different.

In addition to that, you can show off your video previews with more than one video length now, from 6 to 48 seconds. So people can see everything a little bit sooner when you share your widgets here.

• Text Charts

Text now has another new date source, charts. One line charts, like ■■■■■□□□, 62%, or just every single value in a normal chart. Maybe you want a different ascetic for some of your charts or you're making an inline lock screen widget. Since those can only contain a single symbol and line of text, text charts are perfect for showing the amount of something at a glance. There's also a separator option on the text that can be used when listing multiple items of a chart now.

• Choosable Line Count Calendars

When one line isn't enough, but five is too many, you had to pick. Widgy v2.2 prevents you from needing to do that, and you can now pick any number of rows between 1 and 5 to get the prefect length to the calendar.

• There's More

As always, there's more much smaller features and bug fixes that weren't covered in this large post that are ready to use, like "Time Until Next Sunrise" and "Time Until Next Sunset" for text and charts, and new links in the create tab to watch P!XLZ' videos.

JoeyDaniels,
Simply incredible
This app is as said, simply incredible. I never leave reviews for apps but for this I felt necessary. The ui and tools provided are extremely intuitive to use, it truly is like photoshop for widgets. If you don’t want to make your own widgets, there is a very well developed community in the explore tab on the app as well as on the Reddit page where thousands of talented designers can submit their designs for you to use in your set up. Not to mention that the developer is extremely accessible with in the Reddit page, and he truly listens to his community and implements features that the community wants. After messing around with the free version when I first got Widgy, I decided it was fully worth the money to buy the full version just to support the developer alone. This app is incredible and if you are debating honestly just do it. The amount of joy I’ve gotten out of just a widget app alone, creating and submitting my widgets to the community is outstanding, easily one of my favorite apps I’ve ever gotten.
SeekerCons,
A learning curve, but extensive possibilities
I really enjoy this app. I've tried out several custom widget makers and this one seemed the most extensive and user friendly. The free version allows you to place one lock and one home (I was able to use transparent background). And for a lot of people that may be enough, remember you can create more than one and switch them out. But I decided to buy the unlocked versions so I could place multiple lock screen widgets. I love that there's no subscription fee, just one time purchase. There's definitely a learning curve, the flexibility requires a lot of features. But it's worth the time and effort if you want a really custom widget. But the pre-made ones are great too if you don't want to take the time to create your own. My only issue is that with a tap action, the widget opens Widgy first, then the app stored as the tap action. If your tap action is a Shortcut, then it opens Widgy, opens Shortcuts, then opens the app. So Very Frustrating! Although I'm guessing it's an Apple restrictions rather than a Widgy programming error similar to Shortcuts. It would be nice if there was an option to remove any touch action from a widget, including opening Widgy.
Starwarznerdz,
Amazing app for customization
Like the title says. Widgy is the goat for customizing widgets and making your phone look unique. The amount of data available from your device is overwhelming at first but once you try you hand at making a couple or browsing the community made widgets it becomes pretty clear. My only real complaints are 1 the weather is very inaccurate. At least for me, It displays a temp that’s about 7-10 degrees off of my stock weather app. I could live with 2-3 but it’s a large gap to where I’d rather not use weather and use the stock weather app. Disappointing but not a real deal breaker for me. My second issue is with the “reminders” app. Although there are workarounds to display upcoming reminders, a cleaner easier way to select specific lists and display only that list would make this a 5 star app for me regardless of the weather issue. Overall I love the customization this app brings and the community on Reddit is huge for beginners. Love the app, hope it gets regular updates. If you like it, Support the devs so they can keep improving the app!

TLDR; Weather 7-10 degrees off of current location and reminders could use an update to select a specific list to display.

Best custom widgets in the game
The amount you can do with this app is incredible. The customization is definitely the best out there after everything else I’ve tried.
The only thing I don’t like that much is that it has to open the app if you want to open an app though the widget and so there’s a bit of a delay. Also if you want to open a shortcut it not only opens the widget app, it opens the shortcut app as well creating an even bigger delay and you now have three more apps open. I don’t know if that is able to be fixed, given apple’s weird policy, but either way it’s a big step from other widget apps out there. Also a lot of apps that are able to be opened from it was limited (again probably Apple), so there’s not as much I can launch from the widget anymore, but even so my home screen is something I’ve only dreamed of. So I’d say give it a chance.
Jedi907,
I found a bug.
Hello developers of Widgy! I just want to let you know that I found a bug with displaying widgets on my Home Screen recently. I’m using an iPhone 7+, and when I put it into standby mode and then unlock it again, the widgets disappear. By disappear, I mean that the widgets act as if the slots they are set to have no widgets in them, despite the fact that there are widgets in those slots. Why this happens, I’m not sure, as Widgy works just fine on all my other devices (including my iPad), but not on the 7+. This app is still awesome, though—don’t get me wrong—which is why I’m only removing one star here. But devs, if you could please fix this small issue, that would be amazing; thank you!

UPDATE: Wow, that was really fast, guys! The devs just pushed out an update that has fixed the bug for me! So Widgy, I’m giving you back your fifth star. You’re welcome!

I like widgy. the widgets are cool and i like how i can customize my widget with my own dark and light mode backgrounds! The widgets automatically know information about your phone like it’s battery, wifi, etc. and i think that’s pretty nice too. whoever made this app did a great job and it was a good idea. The widgets actually make my phone look like it’s in like IOS 17 or something lol! The only reason i didn’t give it a full 5 stars is because 1: You can only get 1 free slot. how am i supposed to use widgy often and decorate my homescreen with your widgets? I think you should make atleast 2 or 3 slots free, and stick with ads. 2: it’s kinda hard to make our own widgets. like if we wanna add extra things and buttons and stuff we have to add shortcuts. and i’m making this review to get the extra slot which is sad and i shouldn’t have to but i am シ but everything in this review is 100% honest sooo

Support an Awesome App and Dev and Just Buy the IAP Options
It's rare to see an app come along that perfectly fills the void no one else has bothered with. Imagine amazing looking widgets that do all sorts of things you never thought possible, and even provide access to loads of already created widgets you can use as-is, or edit and customize. It's a beautiful thing.
It's obvious that this developer actually uses widgets, noticed the shortcomings, and did something about it. You can get a lot of joy from this app for absolutely zero cost, but even the pricing model makes buying the IAP a no-brainer. The cost is minimal, only a one-time charge (no ongoing subscription), and it helps support someone who really deserves it. This app had to take tons of time to envision and create, so the few bucks is worth it. I'd give it 10 stars if I could. Very well done!
Ampo mom,
iOS 17 issues
First, for those who say this is too hard to use, I totally disagree. I found it very intuitive and simplistic to build widgets. Other apps mentioned in reviews are not totally customizable. I really like this app because it’s possible to create a widget for anything and everything. There is no other app that compares to this level of customization and building.
When I first started building apps I had some trouble finding urls for the apps which I wanted to build widgets. Eventually I figured out the way to get them!
iOS 17 didn’t blank or black out widgets , however the update is causing the “Widgy” iOS app to open and remain open every time a widget is used. The IOS APP is blacked out afterwards. I’m okay with that until the issue can be debugged.
I would recommend that those with blank widgets, reload all widgets or delete them from the Home Screen, or Lock Screen and then add them back. I feel like this will fix the issue.
So grateful to those who have submitted their widgets for Download. Some of them are amazing- there are obviously some very talented people out there.
I would recommend purchasing the full version even though their is an IOS 17 bug. It is still far beyond any other app out there.
Michael_7Pro,
Looks great, but confusing and glitchy user interface.
Sorry, Widgy folks. At first glance, this app looks great, exactly what I was looking for. But I couldn’t get it to work the way I expected. I chose and downloaded a widget showing battery status & weather, but there was no way to load it on the lock-screen or even on the home-screen. There are no clear instructions on how to use the app. You ask users to go to Reddit, but all you have there are FAQ of limited value. I paid to unlock the widgets thinking that might work, but it didn’t make any difference. So, in total frustration, I deleted the app. I expect you to refund my payment since I no longer own the app. Other users, I hope you’re more tech savvy than I am, or that you have better luck with it. As I said, it looks like it has the potential to be a great app, but it needs a lot of work to make it usable.
.Awesomeguy777.,
Good… with some issues
So, I heard about this app from a friend, and I downloaded it. I had never themed or played with the widgets in iOS 14 or 15. It was pretty good at first but as I used it more and more, some flaws became apparent. First, is the lack of a tutorial. For new users, the custom widget maker is definitely intimidating, and I think (if possible,) the app should include some type of tutorial. Second, is the bugs. I have encountered lots of crashes when using the app, and one time, it even reset the layout of my entire Lock Screen. The rest is fine. The default “recommended“ widgets look completely out of date btw. Overall, I’m glad I downloaded this app, but it does come with a fair amount of bugs/issues. But, keep up the good work; I appreciate the time and effort you put into this app. With a couple tweaks and fixes, this app will definitely get better.
