Description
Wildlife Assist is a project that records, monitors, and advises on providing Australian wildlife with food, water, and shelter in the field.
Wildlife Assist was developed by Taronga Conservation Society Australia as part of an Australian Federal Government initiative in the wake of the 2019/20 ‘Black Summer’ bushfires. A need was identified to better track, monitor, and manage the three main types of care provided to animal populations in response to natural-disasters.
With your participation, using the Wildlife Assist App, this project aims to:
§ Record the location of food, water, or shelter stations when provisioning care for wildlife
§ Monitor and update resource (food and water) levels at stations
§ Record animal sighting data
Wildlife Assist also provides a resource to:
§ Register and join groups collaboratively to maintain food, water, or shelter stations
§ Receive location-based alerts to better coordinate wildlife recovery efforts in your local area
§ Search expertly curated guidelines on how to correctly provision food, water, or shelter for specific species of wildlife when required
§ Quickly access contact information for wildlife rescue groups
By participating in Wildlife Assist you are providing valuable information to improve recovery actions.
