Sensational app
I do not usually write reviews, just so you know. I purchased this app hesitantly, as some of the reviews mentioned that it crashed or was not good, but for $1.99 I thought I would give it a shot. Boy am I glad I did! This app is a lifesaver. I'm working on algebra II currently and I've had some issues understanding the steps of solving functions, equations, ect. Thankfully, the app helps you on any problem, gives you the valid answer, AND shows you how it got it. Amazing, now I look forward to math class. Must-buy if you need help or just a reference.

Disappointed
This app would be far more helpful if it covered much more of algebra and if it showed the steps for all of the problems you input. I had planned to buy all of the WolframAlpha Course Assistants but until they become more comprehensive and begin showing all of the steps for all of the problems, I can't see these being a very big help to my kids. I do have a great deal of respect for what WolframAlpha has done as far as the computational knowledge engine so I trusted that the specific course assistants would be more instructive at least as far as showing steps and having more types of problems so that a student can learn what steps to take and not just the answer. As far as that, sometimes you can't even get the answer because the app doesn't cover enough of algebra. I would have no problem paying more for a more comprehensive and helpful app. As a WolframAlpha fan, I have to say I'm sadly disappointed. I even watched the video before I purchased it and in the video it clearly states that you will see the steps for the problems you input. Please improve this app as well as the rest of the course assistants if they are as incomplete as this one.

Good app, but differences between iPad & iPhone keyboards
This is a fantastic app. Powerful, easy to learn, and has a lot of useful functions. I use it constantly to check my homework to ensure I'm on the right track. My biggest complaint, however, is the keyboard layouts between the iPhone and iPad versions are so drastically different that it's very confusing to switch between them. Personally, I think the iPhone keyboard layout makes much more sense, and I find myself using it more often, even though the iPad screen is much better for this type of app. Fix the inconsistencies between the two versions, and it would be a 5-star app.

at first i thought it was gonna be a simple calculator, i thought it would solve for "X"... like simple stuff... man i was wrong! this thing can do anything!! i aced a test in algebra cause of it. and i love how it shows you the steps. so if your teacher ever asks for the steps then you can just copy them down from the phone/ipod. oh and a word of advice. for all the people that just get it and read this review. be sure to pretty much put everything in parentheses. it really helps. well i hope this review helps

Big fan of wolfram
I've had wolfram alpha for a few years now and love it. It's the first place I go looking for answers before I start using search engines.
This is a great app and I recommend it to anyone. It seems like it uses the same engine as Wolfram Alpha. Im going to be doing a side by side to see if there is really anything the algebra app has that alpha wouldn't be able to solve.
I would suggest spending the extra few dollars and get Alpha and get all the extra features. You won't regret the purchase.

Great app!
Awesome for pre-alegbra and alegbra1-2, I have been using this app for a long time now and am always impressed with how fast it can get the answer! Only things that can improve is more variables ,higher powers, and show how to get the solution, for all different types of problems. Other than that GREAT app! Also could make a better tutorial video that covers each section so every one doesn't get confused :P

It would work great...if I had wi-fi...
I know for a fact that this app would be helpful for high school students and junior high students....that have wi-fi. I'm going into my Freshman year high school soon. I would know. The thing is what if we don't have wi-fi and when we really need this app the most, we don't have it. So what? We have to keep driving to Starbucks or McDonalds whenever we need help just to use this app? It would be nice if this app didn't require wi-fi...It was a great idea to create this app, but I wish it didn't have to require wi-fi. That's the one thing I dislike about this app.

I'm not sure why other users are finding it difficult to use this app, but for me it works great. I'm in year 10 and it works flawlessly for the algebra I input. It gives me the various methods of solving the equation and shows me steps on how to use those two methods. It truly is a great app and u recommend anyone to buy it and use. I'll be sure to buy other apps from this developer soon.

Well worth it
i bought this app because im mathmatically difficult. And instead of having to struggle for hours over problems i didnt understand, i bought this little gem. Im in algebra 2, and this app not only gives you the answers to most of the problems but shows you the steps involved in solving it. 1 hour = 25 min. Once you learn how to use it, its well worth a few dollars. I love this app!!!!!

Not Instructional
I gave it three stars because it seems to do what it does well. Only thing is I thought it was an Algebra course. I was looking for an app to bring me thru all phases of Algebra. Giving me examples, showing me how to solve them and letting me solve problems along the way. This is more like an Algebra calculator. You would have problems, (maybe homework) enter the equations in the appropriate boxes and it would return the answer for you. Very little given on how to solve the problems by yourself.
