Highly recommend!!
I have found amazing volunteer opportunities with free accommodation, which have been great learning experiences. Very grateful for Workaway and would recommend it to any budget traveler or a person looking to gain more hands-on experience in a field they’re interested in!

You will lose money through scams
I spent €500 on my a plane ticket and a visa to volunteer. 3 months in advance, I confirmed that they had a spot for me to volunteer. I confirmed that I was definitely interested and I have volunteered at multiple places before. I continued to keep in contact.
I arrived in the country and contacted them again to see what I should do. Only to be completely ignored. My entire trip was centered around volunteering. Not only did “Work Away” not offer any assistance, or refund for my money lost. (Which Other Companies Do)

Good, but.....
I have this app downloaded on my iPhone as well as my iPad Pro. My only critical feedback is that the App does not rotate from Portrait to Landscape with the rotation of the device. I am a vision impaired person and the ability to better see, type on my iPad is compromised by the lack of this particular feature.
Is this capability something that can be added? I would rate this at 5 stars if it was.

Could be good, but...
Unfortunately this app could be a great travel-networking app, but it ends up being just an exploitative experience.
Working five hours a day, five days a week, often leaves the traveler without much time to do anything that is fun. The exception is when you get a host particularly good at taking their workawayers for local hikes, events and to nearby attractions as part of the schedule. But most f the time its just a person or business who wants to get free labor and push you along out the door as soon as they aren't.
You have to really get a good host invested in making it a balanced experience, which in seven months of being a member and actively using the app, I've found 1 out of every 7 hosts actually are going to make it a good experience.
So be careful, rate often, and choose wisely.

Awesome Website, Even Better App
WorkAway has become my key to traveling the world at a fraction of the cost that it would for most people. The site has been great to use, but the app is even cleaner and makes searching for hosts and navigating all the functions even smoother. Love it lotsa!!

Great App but instead of connecting you to the website when clicking on menus, build it into the app so it doesnt always refer you to another webpage to the certain menu.

Must choose a Country?
From what I can tell, there’s no way to search without choosing a location. A significant bummer because I find my next destination by discovering great opportunities that match my interests. I’ve found myself in some pretty unexpected places this way, and been the better for it. I wish you could do a worldwide search based on skills, language, setting, etc. As it is, this app is pretty useless for me.

Work away blocked my account because they said I sent to many messages that was spam , Work Away is a rip off and will not be good … until their app Works
