Description

XAirports turns your iPad/iPhone into a 2nd monitor to use in conjunction with the flight simulator X-Plane.

The app comes with a database of all 35000 airports together with the associated ATC, VOR and ILS frequencies. Important flight parameters can be set during flight and sent via Wi-Fi to X-Plane, avoiding the need to memorize data or pause the simulator. Parameters that can be transmitted:

- COM and NAV frequencies (ATC, ILS, VOR)
- position of your aircraft on an airport (on a runway or 3/10 nm at approach)
- Auto-Pilot and Transponder settings (AUX in-App Purchase)
- Thrust, Flaps, Trims, Brakes, Landing gear (HUD in-App Purchase)

The app can also display a lot of flight parameters in real-time:

- interactive flight tracking of the player aircraft, up to 7 AI aircraft, all 34000 airports and 9000 VOR
- 1500 Navigation and SID/STAR charts (subject to online availability, internet connection required, AUX in-app purchase).
- Thrust, Flaps, Trims, Brakes, Landing gear, Position, Altitude, Speed (FlyHUD iAP)

*SUPPORTED FLIGHT SIMULATORS
-X-Plane 9.70
-X-Plane 10
-X-Plane 11
-running on Mac, Linux, Windows
-no X-Plane plug-in installation required!

Vsv Deepsix,
Crashes using favorites
App (iPhone) crashes if you pull up an airport from favorites. As long as you type out the ICAO in the search, it works. I only use this to pull up ILS codes so I can't comment on connection with sim. If this is fixed 5 starts

Edit: iPad version seems to not have the crashing issue from the favorites list.

Both still save a lot of time not having to look up an airport ILS info and having to DL the PDF chart.
TheThirdVopat,
App Crashes
Solid app but it crashes constantly.
JPurgy,
Great Support
I had issues getting it up and running. Amazing communication with seller. Wouldn’t stop assisting until it worked as advertised. Great app for X-plane. Frees up PC screens for other activities. Highly recommended.
Mr. Elderly Cub,
Great app
If you are using X-Plane as your flight simulator on your Mac then this app is a must have! Really helps with navigation, ILS settings & radio frequencies. It has been a terrific help to me while using X-Plane. Great supplemental app!
Limeyinla,
Very useful app for X-Plane users
In the short time I have been using this app, I have been very impressed. Once one gets used to the interface, it very quickly became a "must have" app for X-Plane.
Airport information laid out in an easy to read fashion is nice and the ability to change both Com and Nav radios from within the app is especially handy.
There are a couple of things I would like to see implemented in the next update though.
1. The ability to "Hide/Show All/Show Selected" the pins that mark airports. Especially useful in areas with a large number of airports in a relatively small area.
2. For the app to automatically set the iPad Time Out feature to "Never" while the app is running and to set it back to what it was on exiting.
Looking forward to future versions of this app
All the usernames are taken!,
AWESOME!!!!
This app is ABSOLUTLY amazing and totally worth $.99. The only thing I would say about it is a button to turn off all the red pins when you are tracking your plane. Thanks SO much for putting this app out!
DallasPilot123,
Not for Mac Plane
Wish there had been a big disclaimer up front letting you know that this will not work with the Mac version of Plane. Wouldn’t you expect the APPLE iPad version of XAirports to work with the APPLE MAC Version of Plane?? Just saying it seemed like a reasonable expectation. If and when they connect this with the Mac XPlane, I will revisit my review.
Macryan1,
Very cool…and fun
Flying X-Plane with my iMac and my iPad at my side adds….well….just a whole lot of fun.

Tracking my flight and getting radio freq. and setting them with this app is much more friendly than manipulating dials in the aircraft.

Super app….looking for lots of updates like tracking other aircraft….getting the barometric pressure, etc.

Well worth the .99¢
