Reviews

Compujam,
More difficult to use than convenient
I had no problems accessing my coursepacks and downloading them, so that part is ok.

Highlighting and note-taking functionality is terrible. As another reviewer said, other annotating apps such as upad are far better and allow for freehand highlighting and note taking. This app merely translates using a mouse and keyboard to the iPad, hardly taking advantage of the benefits of a touch screen. As is, this is not a good replacement for a pen and paper.
Giselle W.,
Works in a pinch, but frustrating to use as advertised
The app has a way to go.. While it is convenient that I don't have to be online or use a passcode to unlock the files every time I have to read (like on a computer), the highlighting feature needs some work.. When I try to highlight, it doesn't always work, and sometimes when it does, it's hard to select... there should be a fix in place that it selects the entire word at first when you're highlighting, as I constantly have to be playing to get every single letter.

Swiping to move to the next page also takes a few swipes, as it often just moves me around the PDF page as well.

Last big bug found so far, is that it won't allow me to print the whole document, with or without my highlighting (which I worked so hard to do!!). If I can print online, why can't I print from here? Surely there should be some check or flag in place for it? So I resorted to printing everything online, and then highlighting my sections the old fashioned way.

C'mon XanEdu, this is supposed to be a convenient way to make us more efficient and productive!!!
Kynsliismommy,
Convenient.. that’s it.
This app is convenient IF you don’t mind having to research for your page in the middle of reading. The app glitches no matter what you press , i get sent back to the table of content, constantly. It’s annoying. If you click next , it sends u to the table of content. If you zoom in, it sends you to table of content. If you highlight , it sends you to table of context. OH and god forbid it takes you longer than 3 second to read cause guess what , it takes you to the table of content. (:
Samuel Sung,
Room for improvement, but getting there
They came to my school and we provided them some feedback on how to improve. They are not there yet, but the new version is MUCH better than the previous iteration. Plus, they have some things where their hands are tied due to copyright issues, which is why a lot of the HBR articles are shown in PDF which is awkward to say the least to view in the app. Otherwise, I look forward to future updates.
Marsha13,
Where are my titles?
Unfortunately, I have to use Xanedu to access digital copies of my course packs. I am trying out the iPad app for the first time (I typically use the Xanedu website and Adobe on PC, which has its own issues) and only 1 of my current 3 packs are available. And for some reason I have 1 of about 20 expired course packs showing up. If this is the future of digital media in education then I guess I will stick to old fashioned hardcopies.
Texascm,
Needs to be updated
It's not a bad app. It just need some improvements. I read some of the older reviews and the highlighting issue is still there even after several updates and years. Bookmark function would be nice as well. It is any to use and read. It would be nice if they XanEdu would simply update.
T4tds,
Don't waste your time
XanEdu app is useless. It won't allow you to export articles or print articles with your notes and/or highlights. The highlighting feature is awkward and time consuming. The app does not allow you to arrange or organize individual articles.
You are better off getting printed versions of the articles from your school, reading and highlighting the old fashioned way and skipping XanEdu all together.
John Masis,
Poor necessity
I am required to use this app for my online school's reading. It's a terrible app. It's very difficult to highlight, and when I do highlight stuff, the app often erases all of my highlights the next time I open up the app. This is no where near the level of iBooks or kindle and oh how I wish it was! Please fix this poorly operating app!
BananaSlug_2015,
Ok, but buggy
Using the search feature crashes the app on iPad 6th gen running iOS 12.4.1. Other than that though, the reader interface is decent, but could do with a little more polish. Login, and course pack downloading were easy.
Tuck&Maddie,
Really good
This app makes for easy, efficient and organized note taking! I would defiantly recommend this to my classmates.
