Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming is a world acclaimed master of Tai Chi and Qigong, and he personally guides you through a series of easy-to-follow Tai Chi movements. Dr. Yang's tai chi lineage can be traced back to the Yang family through Grandmaster Kao, Tao (高濤) and his teacher Yue, Huanzhi (樂奐之), an indoor disciple of Yang, Chengfu (楊澄甫).

This free app gives you free videos, and offers an opportunity to get the full Part 1 video at the lowest possible cost. Now you can practice Master Yang's popular Tai Chi exercises using your phone or tablet. This is a convenient training tool you can bring anywhere, to access this amazingly powerful exercise whenever it fits best into your day.

After learning from your free videos, you may access the full-length program with a single in-app purchase. In the videos, Master Yang will teach you Part One of the Yang Style Tai Chi form. Students will often spend years repeating this section, before moving on to Parts 2 and 3.

Whether you are a beginner or a Tai Chi master already, these amazing exercises offer the perfect combination of relaxation and full-body exercise. You'll enjoy reduced stress, a stronger immune system, and a deeper awareness of breath and body coordination.

Tai Chi, or Taiji, is short for Tai Chi Chuan, or Taijiquan, which translates from Chinese to “Grand Ultimate fist”. Tai Chi is an internal-style Chinese martial art that can be traced back to the Chen family, the Daoists at Wudang mountain, and ultimately to Shaolin Temple.

"The Harvard Medical School Guide to Tai Chi" says: "regular practice leads to more vigor and flexibility, better balance and mobility, and a sense of well-being…Tai Chi also has a beneficial impact on the health of the heart, bones, nerves and muscles, immune system, and the mind."

When practiced slowly for health purposes, Tai Chi is a type of Qigong. Qi-Gong means "energy-work". Qigong (chi kung) is the ancient art of building the body's Qi (energy) to a higher level and circulating it throughout the body for rejuvenation and health. Some Qigong is practiced sitting or standing still, while other Qigong can be a kind of moving meditation. This gentle Qigong exercise is a highly effective way to reduce stress, increase energy, enhance healing, and generally improve your quality of life.

Qigong increases the quantity of energy in the body and improves the quality of your circulation through energy pathways, known as meridians. Qigong is sometimes called "acupuncture without needles."

Similar to yoga, Qigong can stimulate the entire body deeply with low-impact movement and develop a stronger mind/body connection. The slow, relaxed movements are widely recognized for their health benefits, strengthening the internal organs, muscles, joints, spine, and bones, and developing abundant energy.

Qigong can be effective in helping people with insomnia, stress-related disorders, depression, back pain, arthritis, high blood pressure, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, bioelectric circulatory system, lymphatic system, and digestive system.

Thank you for downloading our free app! We are striving to make the best possible video apps available.

SeeJayHawk,
Dr Yang is the pre-eminent authority, the Master.
5* for impeccable instruction from the revered Master who holds and can teach the « secret » like none other. Will rate this app w 5* rating for a VR updated version. Keeping screen right in front of your eyes as you move all around would be the ultimate! Please please update to VR!!!!
Note: FYI here is quote from the about section of part 2,3 app “Dr. Yang's tai chi lineage can be traced back to the Yang family through Grandmaster Kao, Tao (高濤) and his teacher Yue, Huanzhi (樂奐之), an indoor disciple of Yang, Chengfu (楊澄甫). “
Dr. Yang is the real deal.... we are truly blessed to receive his teachings.
robblesaurus,
Gives the "why" for the movements
I had been wanting to learn Tai Chi for many years, but it has been hard to find explanations of the martial art aspects of Tai chi, given that so much attention is paid to its benefits as a relaxing way to train balance and breathing. I find that understanding the martial art application of the movements makes the movements much more meaningful and interesting. These videos explain in great detail what you are actually practicing with each movement, so that you aren't just waving your hands around without focused intention. A fantastic introduction to Tai Chi, and the price is unbelievable for the pearls of knowledge that you get from these videos. My one recommendation is that it would be super helpful to add in a button that lets you rewind 10-15 seconds to review a movement without having to use the slider.
Qigong fan,
Simply Amazing UPDATE
The latest update to this App keeps it fast and compatible. Right from the introduction, you know you are about to have a high quality Tai Chi learning experience. Simply the best Tai Chi learning App. Thank you Dr. Yang!

It’s absolutely fabulous that YMAA is making this (their most popular instructional video) program an APP. If you need a video to learn, correct, or go deeper in your Tai Chi practice, this video APP is your best choice. The quality of the footage is top rate, the audio is very good, and there are even English subtitles if you need them. If you practice or are just interested in Tai Chi, try the free parts of this video APP. You will be amazed.
The god Retrograde,
Great value for the price
I learned the complete form in the past but then I let my study lapse and forgot everything. Too many places focuses on the relaxing elements but without seeing the martial applications you lose a lot of the subtlety of the movements.

I believe they show you the full form but without much explanation. For a better example of what you are getting you should look at the free elements in the second series. But understand that the paid portions go deeper into how to visualize and apply the movements.

I’m looking forward to spending a lot of time with this.
doktortelevision,
Excellent Instruction
I took Tai Chi Yang style Long Form in my 20s. Now in my early 50s I'm returning to it after surgery and physical setbacks. I wanted something that showed me both the form and application. These lessons are great. This master is the real deal. So excited to have found these. Costs far less than lessons usually cost and I can do them in my own home. Downloaded to my phone but use airplay to have it show on my tv thru AppleTV. Highly recommend.
Fbgraham,
A Real Master
It is well worth the price of this app to have high quality instruction from a real master of tai chi on my iPad so I can take it with me. I like the presentation and also appreciate the captions at the bottom of the screen so I can follow along better. I really like Dr. Yang’s style and easy-going but effective manner of presenting the material carefully and accurately. Thank you.

The Gold Standrd
Wife and I took 4 months of Yang Tai Chi training at a local Martial Arts school. We have learned more from this app than the school ever tried to teach. If you want to learn the forms properly and how and why they are done, I most strongly recommend this App (and parts two and three), even if you are attending classes.

(YMAA)-sword, staff and fan training apps of this quality please!
Dulu13,
I wish I could meet him
I truly wish I could practice with this man, the way he explains things you can tell this is his way of life and he cares deeply about what he is saying. I’m just so sad I can’t do it with him. I’ve had a lot of surgery on my leg and Tai chi may be the only thing to save my leg, I bet if I practice with him I could be able to run!
Willy zzzzzzzzzz,
Awesome
This is a great 10 buck app. Money well spent. I've read some reviews complaining that it isn't free. Why would you think this all should be for free? Try going to a local class and see what you'd have to pay.
Chen Xinghua,
So convenient!
It’s like having Dr. Yang in your pocket. I love the convenience of this app. It allows me to take a lesson anywhere, waiting a the bus stop, on a coffee break, or just hanging out killing time.
