With the Aer Lingus Play app you can you can personalize and view your in-flight entertainment content and create playlists prior to a flight. Once onboard, just connect your device with the in-flight entertainment screen and enjoy your flight.
Once you connect your device, you can also use it to control your seatback monitor, as a second screen to watch live television, and track your flight with the inflight map.
Downloaded prior to take-off and was able to open & view available movies and shows…but the moment we took off the app would no longer open or work on either my iPhone or iPad. I tried various options for the seven hour flight to get it to work (restart devices, cycle Wi-Fi on/off) and nothing…just a big green Aer Lingus screen that never opens. Useless app. Engineers and developers need to fix this ASAP. Test it on Wi-Fi on the actual airplane and figure out why it isn’t working.
Moigno61,
Just doesn’t work
Would not pair with the seatback system on a US-Ireland flight, on either iPhone or iPad. on one device, wouldn’t even load past the splash screen. Disappointing as I was relying on this app to entertain a child not tall enough to comfortably see the seatback display. Aer Lingus: spend the money to do this kind of thing right, or just don’t bother.
Paxman356,
Good for what it is.
I thought this would be an alternative to using the seatback screen to watch movies. All it is for is to choose your movie without touching the screen. But it’s not going to be available for us as the Wi-Fi is not available on our flight.
Max doumit,
This app does nothing
There is no benefit that comes from using this app. It was frustrating trying to figure out how it works, then I realized that it does nothing. My flight did have Wi-Fi, and I was connected to it, I allowed the app access to my local network, but there is no way to sync the seat back with the app.
MikeStockman,
App doesn’t work
I see others saying this as well, but honestly, Aer Lingus would be better off deleting this app than keeping it up here, making them look like they should fire their entire IT/development staff and replace them with someone who knows what they’re doing.
Biggooner,
Don't bother
Shocking that any commercial enterprise would release a product so shoddy as this. It's ok to have limited functionality as part of a robust product development mindset, but what you put out should work. Deleted before we'd even left the gate.
Knotonaol,
Useless…
Said to download per my seatback screen but “not available on this flight” was the message I got. No food menus, no entertainment choices… only flight info. Deleted it before even taking off.
Queen O' Roblox,
Super Convenient!!
Really easy to use and super useful!!
puruudel,
Does nothing at all!
Does absolutely nothing if you can get it to run in the first place. Would give it a 0 star if possible. You really can’t get any worse than this.
Eustus Thomas,
Tried on multiple flights, asked staff, it’s useless!
On multiple transatlantic flights I tried this, asked staff for help, and it didn’t work. Embarrassing to Aer Lingus, either really fix it or just remove it.
