Suzsho,
Fun game and updated review
Update #2: sorry it took me so long.... we now have the option to start at the new chapter without replaying earlier ones. Thanks so much for listening, Developers! Five stars! Really fun game. Can't wait for chapter 5.

Update: chapter 3 was excellent fun! But please give us the option to start at the new chapter if we've already played the earlier chapters. More about this below. Thanks, Yak games! It's a great game and getting better with the new parts.

Lighthearted room escape type puzzle game. You're an agent searching the home of a spy in order to catch her. She has secret rooms, safes, codes, etc. the puzzles are fun.... not too difficult but still entertaining. I took off two stars for two reasons: it's quite short, and there's a very long lag time when moving from one room to another - it's sooooo slooooow - which definitely hinders the enjoyment of the game. Did anyone else have that problem? Developers: can you speed up the transition time? Other than that, a fun game that's short and sweet.... definitely worth the 99 cents.
NeverTakeThings4Granted,
Love this game so so much! No complain!
My son and I had played this game together over a year and finally got to play the last chapter. Lots of people complained about the last chapter being rushed and not as good as the previous chapters! Come on people, the game developers worked hard to give us such a well-thought game, stop complaining and start appreciating it. Life has ups and downs, so is everything else! So if they had the chapters reverse, then would you call it a good game? They had already thought of extremely good game in the beginning already, gave you all the quality they could, then of course sometimes in the end it gets a little less exciting but it’s still good. Don’t sit there and expect too much and too high up just because you paid a few bucks and allow yourself to talk trash when things don’t turn out the way you expect. So easy for the people that just sit and talk garbage of others! How about trying to think of an easy game first to see how hard it is to design something!
Tayler_nicole,
Not too easy, not too difficult
I am going to start this by saying I NEVER WRITE REVIEWS, but I have to say something about this game..
Initially, I was looking for a point and click adventure game, but when I came across this, the graphics caught my eye and I decided to purchase and download it.
This isn’t just a simple escape the room kind of game. It is like a mix of both that and a point and click adventure. It has a story line like a point and click would. I normally don’t enjoy escape the room games because there isn’t normally any kind of purpose or story. They are usually just thrown together. This one is not. It also has some great humor in it, too (which I love). I also love how the levels flow nicely with the story instead of jumping into an entirely different/new setting/purpose each time a level is completed.
Also!
It is not too hard. Sometimes games like this get so hard that you’re literally clicking on anything and everything to figure out what to do next...or I have to cheat and use google, but this is just challenging enough. You know what you need to do or look for next, it’s just figuring out where to look and how to get it accomplished that is the challenge. All of the challenges are practical and make sense. You’re not looking for an item in some random spot no one would ever think to look and you’re not looking for things in places they would never belong.
This game is worth the money. I promise.
Captain froggie,
What a disappointing ending!
My Daughter and I enjoyed playing this game so much! Especially chapters 1-3 with great puzzles that made us really use our brains. Chapter 4 fell a little short of the standards set by the previous ones, but was good enough, and laid the ground for a very promising and exciting chapter 5.
After after a very frustrating 20 month wait, where we literally checked for updates everyday, expectations were high when it was finally released. I thought it would have been at least at the same level of chapters 1-3. Instead, we were finished within a few hours, without even thinking too hard, and with a very anticlimactic and expected ending. It feels like the “Final blow” was rushed through the door at the last minute. This game had so much potential for a way better and more exciting ending! I feel so let down.
Now I know the difficulties and resources needed to develop such a great game, but I feel Yak and Co. really dropped the ball on this one.
Maybe someone just downloading the game now without having to wait wouldn’t mind, but for us fans who followed this great game since the beginning, this is a rather cruel ending.
mrflip,
Good game, needs more puzzle, less spot-the-monkey
I enjoyed the game and will keep playing, but the latest update left me cold.
In the fourth section in particular, there are all these visual clues running through but we never actually meet the puzzles — instead you’re just trotting from screen laboriously back to start to gather scraps of blueprint. Who cares?
There were too often stretches with very little breadth in story 4. Most of the time I spent with only one puzzle in front of me, rather than having multiple fronts to work against. The game is much more fun when I have six things I know are clues and three things I need to find solution for. (Earlier sections do better on this.)
Finally, the pinch to step back is cute in theory but slow in practice and often unreliable. I’d much rather have a plain old back button at the bottom of the inventory pane.
mm820z,
Great game however
I really enjoy this game. I have played it countless times mainly on my Apple TV. It’s fun, doesn’t get boring and has a wonderful classic feel. However I’m only giving 3 stars. My biggest complaint and frustration is when Chapter 5 came out I no longer could play it on my Apple TV. You open the game and says to connect a game pad with no way to proceed without a game pad. A game pad is not necessary to play or enjoy this game and it’s really frustrating that a game that I’m pretty sure cost me money is forcing me to procure a piece of equipment that is not integral to gameplay. While it might make playing a little easier I had no issues using my remote. I can’t even use the apple tv remote app on my iPhone as a game pad even though it has a game pad mode. It’s extremely frustrating and I think it was a huge oversight to make gameplay impossible on the AppleTV without a game pad. At the very least make it optional, it’s no detriment to the developers so there’s no reason to not have the option.
Danidono99,
Entertaining play,
I beat all 4 chapters in about 2 hours, but it’s definitely a fun play. Some of the writing is a bit cringe-y, but the visuals and gameplay are great. Some parts very easy, some a bit more challenging, other parts running around trying to figure out what you missed. Reminds me of computer games I loved as a kid. Wish Chapter 5 was done for some closure, but they obviously spent a great deal of time developing this. 4.5/5, could be perfect if they finessed the writing a bit (I don’t think a suave, mustache’d Agent A would have the same goofy thoughts as a 14-year old kid, but that’s just my $0.02). If the main character was much younger, I think the writing style for his voice would make more sense, but the “squee!” kind of inner thoughts don’t match the James Bond exterior. Again, I’m being picky, the game is definitely still worth the download.
alysedh,
Love it!
It's a great game! I like the comments that Agent A makes on Ruby's objects (whether they are useful tools or not). The setting for how to use different objects is also very good. You actually need some brain and common sense to be able to get the solutions, but they are not that hard to get to. I particularly liked the part in Chapter 4 of filling the empty bucket with water and pouring it on the electricity box to get through the walls of the signal tower. And the part of the steam in the bathroom showing the solution to the clock in Chapter 1 (or maybe it's 2). Graphics also nice!

One thing which might be a flaw though:
I think a normal agent/spy will not simply just believe every word the enemy says. But in Chapter 3, it looks like that Agent A just believed that hitting the red button would stop the bomb. Of course, she had nothing better to do then, being locked and watched by Ruby. But I would expect at least a few sentences of doubts, thoughts and struggles in her mind. Same problem in Chapter 4. I would assume that, after hitting the button and blowing up the bridge at the end of Chapter 3, Agent A will feel at least some guilt or regret, but I don't see much of it.

Overall, great game but there is definitely room for improvement!

Can't wait for Chapter 5!
Doctor Rhythm,
AAA Puzzler
If you’ve played a lot of iOS puzzle games, Agent A doesn’t really offer anything original. The first major chapter is basically a room escape game using puzzles similar to the adware apps from several Japanese developers. The second chapter is more about unlocking a mystery box like you’d find in the Room series. The remaining two chapters have a more open exploration feel (with much backtracking) but have the same “now I need to find a wrench” feel.

What Agent A does well though is wrap these familiar mechanics into a premium package. The scale is much larger than what you get with freeware or adware. The graphics and music are attractive and thematically consistent. There is an obvious homage to 60’s spy drama, but it’s more “Get Smart” than Bond, and there are several shoutouts to the series. There is just enough plot to add some emotional stakes.
RAW N WILD,
A great puzzler....
Warning! Contains spoilers!

I have had this game for a long time and I love it! The puzzles are challenging enough so I don’t get bored, the graphics are very enjoyable, and the simple controls make it all the more fun. I have replayed this game many times and I can’t wait for chapter 5! Keep up the good work Yak and Co.! The only concern I have is that the plot is a bit generic. Don’t get me wrong, I love Ruby as the villain, and the chief being a bad guy was a twist, but I kinda saw it coming. I completely understand that it must be extremely difficult to make an inventive puzzle game with an in depth plot, but I feel like there is so much more creativity to be unleashed. That being said, chapter 5 isn’t out yet, so I hope the ending proves me wrong! All in all, one of my favorite games!! Thanks for making it!
