Bon Rurgundy,
Feels unfinished.
All the game elements are there. Intuitive UI, solid graphics, multiple modes. Great music.

Incoming attacks are near impossible to gauge. You listen for the attack and bait it into a corner. Tracking the attacks with your eyes doesn’t work.

The story is in the form of a glossary of lore. Yep, the story is optional and non interactive. Optional is a plus, but non interactive feels like the result of some budget cuts.

It’s a grind. If you like Grindy mobile games this game is 10/10. You will have to repeat many of the same missions over and over, because you cannot skip to the end. You need to grind to unlock things like accessories and weapons, but you should be able to choose your grind. So I guess that’s the bad news, you must grind through every mission every time you fall. Its detrimental to motivation, so after about 20 min you’re gonna look for something else.

TLDR, game could use a content patch or two in the future. Give it an interactive story, make attacks possible to track with human eyes, make it possible to pick specific missions to repeat. If possible, add additional modes. Thanks, keep up the great work. Hope devs don’t consider this a finished product, cuz its not.
L8rG8r400,
An odd experience
It’s cool to see an “out of left field” game like this on Apple Arcade. Twin-stick shooters aren’t very common in the mobile space, so it’s nice to see one come to the service.

I really fell in love with the game from the start because of its bizarre visuals and Queen-inspired soundtrack. I have legitimately never seen anything like it, and I was mesmerized and engaged during my first playthrough.

But when you take a game like this outside of an arcade cabinet and put it on mobile, some things just don’t translate well. There are “upgrades” you can earn for the main character to help you survive longer and reach the later levels, but to get these upgrades you are going to have to play through the same set of levels ad infinitum until you’re absolutely sick of seeing them. The endless repetition really kills the sense of wonder you initially get from the game, since you are forced to replay sections you’ve already played over and over again.

It’s needlessly archaic in this sense, holding onto an element of older games that makes them frustrating to enjoy in today’s gaming landscape. If there was some kind of save system or level select screen, these problems wouldn’t be so glaring, but as of now, progressing will require a mind-numbing grind that zaps the fun out of an otherwise very interesting game.
afro friend,
The Dark Souls of Mobile Arcade Shooters
Air Twister is a game that feels satisfying once mastered. It took me awhile though. I bumbled and got stuck at the first three stages but once I figured out the controls the first six stages became a breeze. You can switch between two types of aiming, lock-on and manual aiming.

Each one affects the way you dodge the enemies. Lock-on is done by swiping at the enemies. Manual however is trickier. You have to hold one finger in place to stop moving and tap with the other to shoot. This is how I did it but there are other different ways to aim and shoot.

The controls are fun and challenging, it really is! You’ll know you mastered it when you can breeze through the first six stages. But after that the game ramps up and the real game begins.

Mostly Feels Good
I played a lot of Space Harrier back in the day, and generally this feels a lot like that so far. Which makes a lot of sense, since it’s coming from the same person. Graphics are beautiful, gameplay is fun, I love the soundtrack. My only complaints are (1) it’s hard to see where attacks are coming from sometimes until they’re already on top of you, and (2) the touch controls still need a little work. I definitely recommend playing this one with a game pad if you have one, as it becomes much closer to that “classic” Space Harrier experience. If you’re a fan of that game, give it a shot! And even if not, at least try it out anyway. You might be pleasantly surprised.
Evadeel,
Nice graphics. Kind of bland overall. Controls with a controller needs work.
The game is visually pleasing, but needs work with regards to contrast between your own shots and enemy “bullets” (not sure what to call them). You don’t have a cursor onscreen when playing with a controller, so you potentially get in front of shots without wanting to. The controls with a controller (I used an Xbox controller) are lacking. The lock-on requires you to press fire again after locking on instead of releasing fire (similar to Panzer Dragoon). It feels off. You also don’t have a dodge type maneuver. The game plays more like Space Harrier, but feels like it should play more like Panzer Dragoon. It is fun, but could be better.
jninn88,
Game is not progressive or unlockable
repeatedly fails with graphics available on mac, which mine is not a cheap one(by their impossible standards of living). Another attempt by apple to give consumers something worth while - however it still fails. The worst part about investing in apple is the lack of functionality and extreme price point. Games like this don't even come close to complexity of most and still it is disappointing, as a basic arcade game. If all apple provides is crappy arcarde games, this is proof they cannot get it right. I only wish my windows systems had the ease of access of mac, otherwise this peice of junk would be gone. I suppose seeing it with apple music initially helped me agree to a higher price point, but it is games like these that destroy my confidence in these overpriced systems.

Beautiful Game
There are tons of skills to learn that make gameplay easier. It just takes some time. Using one finger to hold her in place while firing with the other works really well and most bosses die quickly if you tap them as fast as you can. I barely swipe anything after maxing out Lightning Chaser. The story of the game that explains the lore is earned piece by piece as you progress. Music is fantastic.
Phil P,
Unfinished PS1 Style Game
Decent touch controls on this shooter. Seems like a very indie title. The soundtrack for the game sounded like Queen at first, but it’s a singlet named Valensia. It’s repetitive, so after a level or two you’ll hear the same songs over and over. The rest of the game is repetitive too, very simple level design and boss battles one after the other. PlayStation 1 style graphics. Reminds of of the classic Bryce 3D software.
You can use points to change your avatar a bit or unlock upgrades.
I played about 4 stages. It doesn’t appear to have any story line, just an endless barrage of some enemies that shoot at you and big boss battles. There’s some lore if you dig deep into the menus, but by now I’m pretty bored of it and moving on.
Nature'zClowne,
Do you have Adhd and love music?
I am actually a musician and I have adhd. This game is great for both my adhd and my love of music. You have to constantly dodge and shoot. The colors are amazing. The scenery is amazing. The monsters are amazing. The obstacles are as well. On top of that it uses REAL MUSIC WITH REAL MOVEMENT. It works great with a controller as well. Im super happy with it. Totally worth the Apple Arcade price.
Wes Heathcock,
Why do I have to keep repeating level 1 when I already beat it?
Fatal flaw. I hate the idea of completing something only to die in level 2 and not start back at level 2. If I am doing it “wrong” than that is still a fault of the game as this should be easy to figure out for someone with experience in games surely. I can’t stand games that do this — why would I want to play the SAME level over and over and over and over. Nahhhh to the trash bin you go. Good luck.
