DWS1952,
Inconsistent and Intrusive
I was excited to see an app for the Akaso 7 LE that would give smartphone control of the camera from a distance. The camera itself is very impressive in quality and performance. It’s too bad the app is not so much. In WiFi mode the camera would only connect about half the time and it took a long time when it did. The app has very limited features for camera control. The process of connecting through the app takes too many steps and is very tedious, making it a painful experience and not user friendly. And probably worst of all, you have to agree to give Akaso free access to practically all your private information. I’m hoping an independent 3rd party will develop an app that I can use for all my different brands of action cameras and has a reliable, friendly user interface but I’m not going to hold my breath.
Nerdy Pete,
good app but should do more
TLDR: Annoying social features that auto play video and the camera is so good it needs livestreaming. Also: needs faster transfer speeds.

This app functions well enough as an interface to Akaso cameras (at least to the Keychain which is the only model I have) but the time it takes to transfer videos from the camera seems longer than it should be—the cam runs out of battery before the videos finish transferring! Transferring from the card to a computer seems buggy—both my Mac and my Windows machines have trouble reading cards used in the Keychain. Meanwhile, the social aspect of the app seems unnecessary. There are already too many social media apps to choose from. It’s also frustrating that when you open the app the social section shows first AND autoplays the first video (with audio—which is SUPER annoying) when I’m only interested in the page for connecting the camera. One thing I think would help the app a LOT is the ability to livestream to Twitter, FB, or anywhere, really. This camera could connect people in an incredibly immersive way to all kinds of events. I used it to shoot a wedding during the pandemic. Would have been great to bring the couple’s family there, too.
ianmbelinos,
Lacks basic features
I have been using action cameras from GoPro and aKaso for quite some time to record wildlife videos. I rely heavily on operating the camera remotely. Unfortunately, when compared to the GoPeo
‘ Quick app the Akaso App is buggy, and lacking in many features that are almost essential for even basic remote control of the features that have been available in Akaso camera’s for several years.
I there’s no ability to change shutter speed, ISO, White balance .
You are merely given a choice of resolution and a selection of field of view when shooting straight photo mode;
The white blabcem IS, Speed are not able to be charged in the App when shooting video either.
Any series setting of parameters has to be done directly on the camera itself, leaving the app as little more than a very clunky remote shutter button.
Other features in the app are also very clunky. Updating firmware for Akaso cameras, requires you to use the app. If you absolutely have to do it, set aside lots of time - it may take more than several attempts and the patience of a saint!
It’s very sad, because the Akaso cameras are generally quite good and have some great features built in, unfortunately the app is not built to take advantage of them.
doglover40,
Works BUT poorly
I bought an AKASO EV7000 underwater camera so I had to get their “go” ap to transfer my pictures and videos to my iPad. First, the instructions are poor and it doesn’t work consistently. My review is about the ap not the camera, which I do like.

For those out there, let me try to help you use this app. Plug the power cord from the charger directly into the camera it will maintain consistent power and charge the battery at the same time.

You need to turn on Wi-Fi on the camera by pressing the down button on the side of the camera. You then pair it to your device (my iPad) using your Wi-Fi settings. You can then see the list of photos or videos. I found the ap kicked me out repeatedly when I tried to select the photos after or while they populated. (There is an icon in the upper right corner of the screen (my iPad) that brings up the pictures.) I found if I selected “All” (at the bottom of the screen (on my iPad) before they fully populated it was more likely to work. One thing, DONT TOUCH ANYTHING until everything downloads. If you have to restart the download it will transfer multiple copies.

Hopefully this will help. Good luck!
brycesaysno,
Live preview doesn’t work
Unfortunately it seems that live preview does not work with our V50X, tried on multiple phones. We have seen it working on other people’s reviews, and have seen some recent comments about their live preview also not working. Some were able to get live preview to work by using an older version of the app, so I suspect that one of the recent updates broke live preview.

Other than that, the app seems to work great, transferring data from the camera is easy, and we can still control it from our phones, we just can’t see any preview.
T0pangaNerd,
Does not connect to camera
I have an EK7000. I have tried at least 30 times on multiple days to connect camera to iPhone via this app. The camera says it’s connected, I can see I’m connected on my wifi phone settings, yet the app refuses to recognize it. I have tried so many things restarting the app, turning off cellular, restarting wifi, connecting things in different orders (e.g first wifi on cam then on phone then app, wifi on cam then try to connect with app and then wifi in settings, ect). It will not connect. This is the most basic, basic feature to have. If nothing else, this should work. Absolutely ridiculous. And it looks like this has been an ongoing issue for years? How is that possible? Frustrated is an understatement.
CometYes,
The app will not connect to the Brave 4
I can’t get the app to connect to the Brave 4 camera. Or, more accurately, it connected to the camera once, but I haven’t been able to reconnect it since. I have followed all the instructions and looked up workarounds, to no avail.

Akaso’s customer support has been great; they responded to my emails and even replaced the camera. But while both the original and replacement cameras worked fine, and my phone connected to the cameras’ wifi just fine, the app itself didn’t connect to the cameras (except that one time). Therefore I'm assuming the app is the problem. And since I really need to be able to remotely monitor what the camera sees (but can’t), I will probably return the camera.
ianyoinc,
Great App - Easy to use
I have an AKASO EK7000 Pro. The app connects very easily and is fun to use. The ability to transfer photos and videos to the phone is so much better than taking out the sd card and using an adaptor. The remote function is also very nice. Connecting the camera to the phone is simple and has worked every time for me. It runs on Wi-Fi instead of Bluetooth which is strange, but still works very well. The app works better than expected. Five stars!
Nico Skyy,
New User. Very Disappointed
I am a new user of the AKASO EK7000. I enjoyed using this camera for the first time on my recent vacation so I was even more excited to download the app and begin editing my videos and photos. I am experiencing a lot of delays and disconnection issues while just waiting for photos to become editable. In the meantime, the camera gets hot very quickly. It’s a bit concerning. I registered for an account thinking that route was another opportunity for editing and sharing my media but that is not the case. I would rate 0 stars if that was an option only because I have yet to use this app for its intended purpose. Please fix the necessary bugs so that this app can live up to its promise.
BacchusPS,
No native iPad support? Seriously?
How can you not have native support for tablets in 202w and now 2023?
On top of that the primary screen is content crap from other users?
The primary focus of this app should be my usage of my camera. Yes that can include. social media crap, though i wont use it. But first and foremost what i need it to do is move photos and videos from my phone to my tablet and/or phone. Plus maybe allow me to edit them as well, though as long as they are accessible to other apps, thats ok.
Hopefully i can figure out how to turn off the feed stuff, but either way i doubt ill be using this app much if i cant get native tablet support.
Will definitely be looking for alternatives.
