Description

The Aleph Beta app is filled with life-changing Torah videos & podcasts that matter.

Torah, in Hebrew, means guidebook. It comes from the same word as morah, teacher, or horeh (parent or guide). The Torah is supposed to guide us, presumably. Often, though, when we turn to Torah for ancient and spiritual wisdom, we don’t immediately pick up a Tanakh. We look everywhere and anywhere else for inspiration. We gravitate towards Hassidut, Mysticism, Jewish philosophy or even talmudic legal analysis.

Many of us don’t feel like opening up the pages of Leviticus to read the week’s Torah portion, or the stories of the Sale of Joseph, or the complaints in the desert to give us that inspirational boost in the morning. We’ve grown distant from Torah text as a source of guidance.

Aleph Beta’s mission, led by Rabbi David Fohrman, is to help you revisit the text you may already be quite familiar with, read it honestly, without preconceived notions or barriers, and authentically discover the richness that was always there. Our guarantee is that you will be deeply surprised about the latent meaning in laws and stories you may have long overlooked.

At Aleph Beta we make stunning animated videos and slickly-produced podcasts on the parsha, Jewish holidays & fast days, laws & mitzvot, prayers, relationships, big philosophical ideas and many other topics that present Torah ideas in an easy-to-consume way.

In a world where you could be watching Netflix and YouTube, we want you here with us, experiencing the timeless wisdom of Torah in a way that stands up to the best production value the secular world has to offer.

Our app is totally free to download, and we provide 30 minutes of free content a month for you to watch, listen & enjoy. For unlimited access to streaming, downloading, transcripts, parsha learning guides & much more, we offer a Premium membership for a small monthly or annual fee (see details below).

Milne-loyaltity,
Incredible app
This app is incredible! A God send really. As someone who has been on this journey for a decade and finally my conversion is June 11th 2021. This app has been instrumental in my growth and knowledge into Judaism ✡️ I love doing the premium subscription it’s worth every single dime. I’d donate even more if I had the funds. How impactful this app has been for me and my growth. I will be leaving till the day I die and this app will forever be a part of my learning. Love the knowledge and understanding every pharcha each week. I emailed them and the responds was immediate and so kind and grateful in the response. I feel like I know Rabbi Forman as much as I hear his kind voice.
Thank you keep the incredible work up!

Orah M.,
Enjoyable and Enlightened Learning
As someone converting to Judaism, I profoundly appreciate the way Rabbi Forhman, the writers, producers and artists at Aleph Beta present unique insights into the Torah, Holidays and Parsha through animated videos and audio lectures. It’s been an amazing and most enjoyable learning experience. As a subscriber, I truly look forward to a new video every week and the opportunity to delve into the archives of past videos to expand my own point of view and knowledge. Thanks so much for the hard work and the enlightenment provided by this app!!
KristenEden,
Brilliant! Download ASAP
AlephBeta has been a game changer for me. I only wish I had stumbled across it much sooner. They should partner with other apps that are in the culture and have prominent Jews leading them to market, so more people will be exposed to this amazing content (i.e. PragerU).

A few features are missing that bring the app to a 4/5 for me but this in no way should deter anyone from downloading it immediately:

1. Ability to mark a video as “complete” and that completion to be reflected everywhere that video or podcast is shown throughout the app. Sometimes videos don’t reflect you’ve watched them, and they don’t always show you’ve watched the video everywhere it can be found

2. Ability to favorite videos

3. Add to watchlist - if you find something now you want to remember to watch later

4. Currently watching, so if you’re in the middle of a series and have to stop, you can pick back up and finish the series / collection

5. Publish date

6. Auto-play toggle off/on

7. Sometimes videos are mentioned as being “linked below” and they aren’t

Fabulous Teacher + Fabulous Medium
Gentle, Humble, Gracious, Thoughtful. All capitalized to emphasize my respect and love for a man I have spent hours with, yet have never met. He is an incredible teacher. The form and style he and all the team have developed is highly effective. If you have any interest in the Bible, here is where you can learn depth and absorb character, especially if you did not grow up in a traditional Jewish home. I've had many wonderful teachers; this is my favorite.
John Doe the second and third,
App doesn’t work correctly on ipad
The content on the parsha is really good. I would definitely recommend this to all my friends. I love the time and effort put into each video. I watch it on my desktop and iPhone online.

I decided to download the app (3 year’s ago) at first it was working great. Not sure what has happened since last year. A little over a year the app has not been working properly. Sometimes it crashes, sometimes just the audio works. I have not tried using the app on my iPhone, but on the iPad, it does not work correctly. If this can be fixed, this would be an awesome way to watch and save the videos.
Honest review 13277,
Love this app & its teachings!
I'm a Christian, but I've been wanting to dive deeper into the Old Testament, as well as learn Hebrew to have a better understanding of the scriptures and their meaning. This app does that quite well! I love the perspectives on the Word that Rabbi Fohrman has to offer. This app has been uplifting for me to use, it's strengthened my faith, given me a greater understanding of God and the nature of God, and it's been an absolute pleasure to watch the videos in my free time. Thank you Aleph Beta for what you do!
abigailpop,
Eyes opened
As an evangelical Christian I have been taught that the Torah has been cancelled. After learning from Alephbeta I have come to realize that when our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ said He did not come to cancel the law but to fulfill it, He meant just that. Where did we get the idea that by fulfilling the law He cancelled it. When you hear Rabbi Fohrman teach you almost wonder if he didn’t sit at the feet of Rabbi Jesus 2000 years ago. (He doesn’t look that old though)
Tilted over 456,
Rabbi Fohrman!
Don't let the animation fool you into thinking that this content is meant for kids! Rabbi Fohrman has managed to present deep insights and critical analysis of the Torah texts in a format that is not only entertaining and clear but brilliantly intelligent as well!
Rabbi Fohrmans use of chiasms and intertextuality truly shed light on the meanings of the Torah texts and is reminiscent of some of the Baal Haturim's comments. A truly amazing contribution to the Torah world that can be enjoyed by young and old alike!
Mohawk Momma,
Homeschool Resource & Personal Spiritual Formation
’ve been using AlephBeta for many, many years. I teach the Torah to my high school children, and this app is in it's own league!!! It’s such a high quality and a unique tool for anyone who delights in the Hebrew Scriptures. I also use it for my personal spiritual growth and intellectual stimulation. I especially like the weekly thought-provoking Torah portions. And they have a hospitable support staff.
dora elias,
Amazing app
This app teaches me a ton of interesting dvar Torah’s. The way they teach, and explains things astonishes me. Everything is presented in a clear and organized fashion via a fun and exiting method. Imu Shalev and Rabbi Forhman, and all other teachers, are extremely great orators. Moreover, Beverlyn Wood, the person in charge of responding to emails, is very understanding, and good hearted. She gets back to emails quickly and is awesome. I love aleph beta, and hope everyone joins them.
