Ambee gave my Hue smart lights a completely new meaning! I had no idea of what my Hue lights were truly capable of until Ambee unlocked the possibilities for me.
The perfectly timed fluctuations and tone on the color changes put you in the very mood and setting the title of the Ambee mode is trying to invoke.
Works seamlessly after connecting to your Hue Bridge with a single click of the big white button and takes control of your lights without having to fiddle with the Phillips Hue App or overriding the ability to take control back of your lights.
I was told by Tomas, the Ambee creator, that improvements will be coming to the UI to have access to more modes from one screen. Additionally, I’d like to be able to manipulate the individual modes while also being able to revert back to the defaults of each. Siri control may be nice as well.
I look forward to ever improving updates on this app and recommend this app to anyone who wants to see what their Hue Color lights can really do.

Account disabled?
I got a new phone and couldn’t sign in. I tried several times and now the app is “temporarily” disabled. The problem is I’ve tried it several times over the past month and a half with no luck and now way to reset the password. Love the app when it works, which was always u til recently.
Update: I emailed the developer and received a response almost immediately with a link to reset my password. Ambee is my favorite Hue app again!

Some really great animations
I love this app. I have about 35 color led bulbs plus some strips in all the rooms in my apartment. I really love the dim animations as I don’t like it very bright in my home.

Has decent potential
Could be a good app, if the app itself didn’t timeout after a while and wasn’t a considerable battery drain. I’ll notice after a few minutes the lights are no longer changing color, I bring the app up on my phone and it’s just frozen, have to shut it down and bring it back up. It’s laughable to have a subscription to an app that works for 5 minutes. Uninstalled.

Expensive subscription, limited samples
Lame. Forces you to endure a 30 second, uninterruptible demo, then forces you to register to see anything else, then you can only sample a maximum of 5 scenes without paying. You can’t demo more without paying (I.e., pay for something you’ve never seen!) You have to pay for a subscription (presumably to get new scenes; hopefully they wouldn’t claw back the scenes you paid for, but, as I have no intention of subscribing I guess I may never know.) Subscriptions are quite pricey, to boot. There are many other apps that offer much more for much less for your Hue lights. Disappointing, to say the least.

Used to be great
A formerly fun app with genuinely good light formulas, but a grab for subscriptions. A subscription to what? There have been no new light formulas for a very long time. I would know, I bought the in app credits for almost every design. That was over a year ago at least and there have been no new lighting designs. That was fine when you bought them a la carte. However since this redesign and move to subscription model, have not been able to restore my purchases. Buyer beware, you will subscribing to nothing new other than a fresh coat of paint in the UI. No thanks.

This app is perfect if you have a lot of Hue lights. It truly is transformative. You feel like you’re on a Broadway stage or in a Disney attraction. It is PERFECT for when you have guests over, especially for parties. The static scenes make even ordinary lighting creative. I can’t rate this app high enough. Exceptional work.

Wouldn't work
I only tried the sample when I first opened the app. It never did anything. The first time all my lights were off, they never turned on, second and third and fourth try they were on with different scenes. Never changed. They stayed in the scene that was selected via a different app, which had been closed in the background to ensure it wouldn't interfere. After these tries, I deleted the app. It seems to have a lot of fans, but doesn't work for me.

So easy to use!
This is by far the easiest Hue Animation app I’ve found that has so many cool animated scenes. The fact that it lets you preview scenes before using your credits for them makes it ideal. I love how many options there are for scenes, too! They give you some free credits after you log in, which allows for 5 scenes to be purchased. Great app!

Dev doesn’t listen, dimmer barely works.
I contacted the developer over a year ago and was surprised to get a response, so kudos to him for that. The only issue is that once my complaint was understood minimal steps were taken toward integration, a compromise was reached but I’d rather have full control over the brightness of my scene. Users should have the ability to control the maximum light output of their bulbs.
Other than that, the app is great, one of the top three hue compatible apps IMO. Just choose your free scenes wisely and you should be pleased enough to buy additional ones.
