Vital App for All Orthodox Christians
In this chaotic world of noise and distractions, this app is absolutely ESSENTIAL as an aid to help me remain focused on my spiritual growth. I listen every single day at work. Not only is the sacred music beautiful and uplifting, but the little ‘wisdom breaks’ are the perfect little reminders I need throughout my day to check in on my heart and my intentions as I listen. If it wasn’t for the unfortunate erratic app crashes that happen at least once a day on my iPhone, this would be a 5-Star app. I am incredibly grateful to the developer of this app! Please keep on supporting this important form of ministry!
App Functionality Challenges,
Great Content, but Challenging App
I have no issues with the content provided by Ancient Faith Media. This is a review of the app itself.
I downloaded the new version of the app fairly recently. While the functionality and appearance of the app are vastly improved over the previous one, there are several areas that make it very challenging to use. First, the search function is often either extremely slow or nonfunctional. Second, whenever I open the app, no matter what network I’m on, I receive error messages regarding loading my following and favorites. I don’t have any added, so maybe that’s what the error is. Third, I sometimes lose progress on podcast episodes that I’ve saved to my downloads and listened to. Fourth, sometimes downloads simply fail for unclear reasons. The only way I can get them to work is to select the download option and remain within the sub-menu where that option exists.
These are minor things individually but add up to make the app frustrating to use.

This App got me back in church
After living in an area where the Greek Orthodox churches were not entirely Christian focused, I was disgusted and I had stopped going to church. After 8 years of not going to my church this app was the lifeline that hooked and bated me back to my true home. The first time I heard it was like drinking a glass of water on a hot day. I highly recommend that Orthodox Christians talk about it with each other and advertise it in their church bullitans. Christ did end up leading me to move to an area that has several very nice Greek Orthodox churches. But this was the start. Thank you so much to God and those who made this App for Him. PS make sure your kids going off to college have it downloaded on their phone.

was great until it was infiltrated with "social justice"
This is absolutely the last place I want to come to hear about "racial inequality" and be shamed for not following CDC guidelines. The talkshow section on the app has been entirely subverted, used as a way to try and convince orthodox people, who try to be people of god, to rather be people of the world. I know politics always find their way into talkshows, thats understandable, but to be bombarded with messages of "its not enough to go to church, you have to support whatever flavor-of-the-week movement that society pressures you into supporting!". What a horrible was to start my day of by hearing this. I wont go into specifics of why the pressure to support these movements is against the orthodox faith, but I will say that many within our faith have found they get a lot more social applause by worshipping racial movements rather than worshipping god.

Amazing and helpful App!
This is a wonderful app, for both those new or learning about the orthodox faith, and those who have been in it their entire lives. This app helped me dive deeper into the scriptures, Orthodox theology, and the lives of the saints on a daily basis! It really is extremely easy to navigate and the content is just awesome and engaging. Every day I listen, and every day I learn more about Christ! That’s all I could really ask from an app tbh. Great app. Although, I would recommend adding a “search” feature in the future. Otherwise, this app is stellar!

I use this daily
There are few apps I use as frequently as AFR app! I love it. It helps me and my family begin our day with hearts postured towards the Lord through the Daily Bread tab. All of the podcasts I listen to every day are thought-provoking, humbling, and edifying to listen to. I’m really grateful for this app and the work put into it!
I think if there were a better compiling of the programs offered it would be easier to navigate. That would be my only “criticism” but otherwise cannot recommend this app enough!

Needs more personable settings
Great app! Amazing, radio stations! But when I have a specific priest, artist, podcast (not episode) that I want to look for, it doesn’t come up. I can only download one episode at a time. I really wish I could download or save an artist or podcast series. For example, I would like to save “The morning offering with Abbott Tryphon” instead of just one of his episodes. And maybe get a reminder that he has a new podcast episode, since I would have saved his podcasts to my favorites. You see, it’s great content, but it’s pretty difficult getting around. We need this type of system, please. Thank you AFR!!!

Awesome app for all Orthodox Christians
I love the app, love just putting on the English music and listening to the podcasts. Though I unfortunately can’t give the updated version 5 stars because regardless of a good connection, it’s not super reliable and sometimes it just won’t play podcast episodes that I download. Otherwise, I’ve loved the AFR app for a long time and will keep using it, just hope that if it’s an app issue, it’s resolved.

One of the best Orthodox apps out there
I love AFR, just got baptized and Chrismated into the Orthodox Church a little over a month ago, and I’ve used this app since the very beginning when I first inquired into Orthodoxy. I love it and I’m extremely thankful to be able to refer to not only the great podcasts, but the amazing music, as well!

Terrible app - Sad to say
Always crashing, downloads don’t work when offline, and the app never remembers where I left off on a podcast. While the “status” bar shows how far I’ve gone, once I hit play, simply starts at the beginning. This app clearly needed more testing before launch.
But I still love Ancient Faith. Just a bum app for now. Trust things will work out eventually.
