Description

ArtikPix - Full is an engaging articulation app with flashcard and matching activities for children with speech sound delays. Among the many features in ArtikPix - Full, group scoring is available with an unlimited number of students per group in the flashcard and matching activities. Scores can be collected as students practice sounds in words and sentences.

Utilizing fun and modern graphics, ArtikPix - Full has all 24 decks with 40 cards each (113 cards in r deck, 1,033 total cards) for the following sounds: b, ch, d, f, g, h, j, k, l, l-blends, m, n, p, r, r-blends, s, s-blends, sh, t, th, v, w, y, z. As part of a step-by-step process, decks and corresponding sound positions are configured for student profiles. The configurations are saved for each student, so they are automatically available in the activities.

In ArtikPix - Full, the flashcard and matching activities have features in common like audio and video recording, default audio, and group scoring. The activities do have differences, though. The flashcard activity includes word and sentence levels; whereas, the matching activity includes the word level with 3 matching levels: Easy (3 pairs), Medium (6 pairs), and Hard (10 pairs).

ArtikPix - Full includes the following features:
• Group scoring for an unlimited number of students
• A wizard (aka setup assistant) provides a step-by-step process to easily configure the following for each new student: name, decks, sound positions, syllable lengths, grammatical levels (word, sentence), and matching level
• A student profile provides an easy way to view student notes and scores, and to update student configurations
• Auto-play of default audio
• Tap-to-play default audio
• Audio and video recording features - videos can be saved to your camera roll
• Collect data by tallying independent and prompted responses for student sound positions (e.g., initial th, er)

• Take notes for a student in or out of a session
• Tallied data is automatically converted to percentage based data

• Student data organized by sessions that are open or completed; the latter of which can be reopened

• Create custom cards for use in the flashcard and matching activities
• Data rings provide a better view of student scores
• Export student data for a range of dates to report progress during a period of time

• Configurable options across the app for audio (e.g., tap-to-play), and visual (e.g., hide matched cards).
• Undo tallying mistakes by tapping the undo button at the bottom of each activity screen

specialappssk,
Engaging, easy to take anywhere!
I am a SLPA working with kids with various levels of speech impairment- Pre-K through 5th grade. I also have used this with my nephew and my own sons. ALL of the kids enjoy this app.
I work at multiple sites, and this is a very portable and motivating way to get the kids to practice their speech sounds. I've used this before and after the update, and I really appreciate the new sentence feature! I also prefer the the simplicity of the ArtikPix images over the images used in my traditional flashcard decks- they are more easily identifiable and relatable, in my opinion.
There are two improvements that would probably make me chuck the laminated flashcards completely: the ability to add our own cards and/or create and save custom groups of cards, and the ability to score more than one child in a session, such as in a group turn-taking situation. Those changes would be icing on the cake!
Thanks again for a very handy app!
SLP2kids,
Still love it!
I’ve used this app for years and I still love it. My students love it too.
Ann_Ron,
The Absolute Best Artic App Out There!
As all school based SLP's know, hauling your stuff between schools or even up and down the hallway if you are doing a "quick artic" program, can be back breaking. Then sometimes you don't have what you need. With this app, all your worries and backaches are gone! You have all your artic cards at your fingertips! With the new updates you can choose to include the sound in all positions of words or limit the deck to one position. You can include multiple sounds in one deck. It really is amazing and incredibly fun for your kids. My speech kids beg to "play" with this app! The pictures are clean and clear. The kids get to flip the pages and mark their own productions. Best of all, you can mark a production correct or incorrect multiple times on each word. The other products I have tried will not allow for multiple productions and data collection on individual words! I LOVE this app and would recommend it to anyone! It has certainly made my job much easier and so much fun for all!
jessielarae,
Love it!
This app is almost perfect! It has words and sentences, in all word positions, and I love the audio voice record so the kids can play back and listen to their own productions. (They are very excited about this, too.) It is VERY easy to use. I bought it yesterday and my students have spent their whole therapy sessions on it today; they especially like to have their own picture signify when it is their turn. Even the flashcards are more fun than traditional ones. It is flexible because you can require the student to say the word as many times as you want so that you get multiple productions. This app has just enough data tracking features to track quickly (and not too many that I wouldn't even use, as I've seen in other apps). It even has /p, b, m/ which are less common sounds to work on. My only suggestions for improvement would be to split R into the different vocalic types (er, ear, air, etc.). I also wish it would turn "landscape" with my iPad because the type of case I have only stands it sideways--but the app is vertical.
SpeechTherapist,
Great App!
I had the free version and bought a few decks already but when I saw it was on sale for $30 I caved and bought the full version! So far this has been a great app but the sale price is where it should be normally. I love the updates but echo the requests for making our own picture cards (really helpful for increasing carryover of functional, personal words) and the ability to track data in a group. I hardly get to see kids 1-1 for artic so the data tracking feature is somewhat lost on me unless I only track 1 kiddo per session. Overall- love the app! Please keep the updates coming!

UPDATE: 6/17

I love the update!! Now if we could choose between word and sentence level from the start and add our own images it would be perfect! Thanks!!
Disappointed School-Based SLP,
Bring back the old version, please!
I understand that you were trying to help in creating profiles for each student, but this actually makes the app much slower to use when I'm working with students at my schools. I have 50 students on my caseload and it is much more realistic for me to use the app how it used to be configured rather than to create a separate profile for each of them. I have students working on multiple sounds, but we usually only focus on one sound per session, sometimes only in one word position. This update makes it difficult to quickly navigate to the target sound I want for each student during his/her session. Just an idea- maybe you could have a quick start screen similar to the previous version of the app so that it's quicker to navigate to a specific sound when working with students? It seems that this new setup is more practical for clinic based SLP's who have fewer students to serve and more time to serve those students than school based SLP's. Sadly, this app isn't set up in a practical way for me to use it anymore.
JMSLP,
Great app for the SLP on the go, and for home use
I'm an SLP working in the schools, and find that ArtikPix is incredibly helpful and motivating to my students. Like many SLPs, I don't have an office to work out of, and have to carry all my materials with me between multiple schools. With ArtikPix, I don't need to carry decks of cards with me for artic therapy. The app is incredibly motivating to my students. They love anything on the iPad, and they enjoy recording and hearing their own productions and rating themselves. You can tap the numbers on the bottom of the screen to undo an over-eager tap or an incorrect scoring.

In the future, I hope the app will have the ability to add your own pictures and stimulus recordings. I'm having to tote the Kaufman Apraxia Treatment decks around with me, and would love to have them in my iPad :-)
DiannaSLP,
Fantastic app
Hands down, this is my most-used app, and one of the apps that made purchasing an iPad for work really worth it. I *always* have a full arsenal of Artic flashcards with me, which is priceless in a K-2 school. The students enjoy recording & scoring themselves, and I love the ease of keeping data, and having it available to me at any time. Scoring groups of kids is awesome.

Some caveats/requests. It can be tough to be so upfront about whether a student is right or wrong - would LOVE to be able to mark a sound as approx. or cued, and to turn off just that negative sound. Also would like to be able to choose to stay in sentence mode instead of switching back & forth. Finally, the sentences weren't well thought out, many times containing multiple instances of the target sound. Fortunately, you can skip that pic or, be creative & make up your own!

Thanks!

P.S. Updates are great -- love that we can now use landscape or portrait mode. Thank you!
cello7368,
Good app
I do like this app. I use it frequently. I like the option of staying on the stimulus word as long as you need. Flipping to a sentence immediately after the word is a good feature as well. The graphics are also good. I wish that the audio was different for correct/incorrect data tracking. Many of my students do not like it when I hit the sad face and it replies "aww". It would be nice to mute the tracking sounds all together. The recording feature is also very nice. It could use a few more pictures also.
Erin-Speech,
Great update
Love the update to this app. Being able to track data for multiple students is of great help! I love the use of student pictures as well. I know my little ones will love seeing their picture on the screen. Another big help is the ability to undo data during therapy. Too many times, I accidentally pushed a button twice and had to remember my data was off by one or more.

I would still like to see blends in the final position of words. Or, the ability to create custom sound groups would be nice too!
