Description

ASIAIR is an intelligent wireless controller that includes the device and app. You can control all ASI USB 3.0 and Mini-series cameras, selected DSLRs/MILCs, and popular equatorial mounts. Also, you can handle more gears, such as EFW and EAF from ZWO. Just connect your phone or pad to ASIAIR WiFi and explore the universe.

ASIAIR has SkyAtlas built-in. It can handle almost all DSO and Planetary imaging tasks. Such as preview, plate solve, auto-focus, polar-align, guiding, plan (multi-target, mosaic), video recording, live stacking, post-stacking, etc. You can even share and chat with global Astro-pals.

Quantum xzy,
Great promise, not yet delivered
The ASI Air could be the best thing yet for simplified DSO imaging, but its buggy. I bought it because of rave reviews on the internet and videos of users using it on their Avalon mounts, like the M Zero, which I had just purchased. It promised to be a perfect solution for integrating the Avalon StarGO mount control system with SkySafari for GoTos, and the ASIAir for complete control of the mount and imaging. That has not worked out. My specific criticism is the long delay in responding to known issues, in my case the lack of support for Avalon StarGO mounts, despite having them listed as supported in the choice of supported platforms; both Avalon Legacy (which is basically Meade LX200) and Avalon StarGO are listed, but neither have full functionality if they work at all. I’ve been told repeatedly they are working on it, and even that a fix was imminent- over the past three months. Not my definition of ‘imminent’.
Cmahar3,
Makes Astrophotography fun again
Can’t say enough good things about ZWO and the ASIAIR. It makes astrophotography so much more pleasant, taking the drudgery out of polar alignment, star alignments, plate solving & target acquisition, camera control, guiding, and now planetarium support! All that is integrated. The AIR is allowing me to do things I couldn’t do before because I was spending so much time going through procedures to get my equipment working, talking to each other, resolving issues. Of course there have been issues, and ZWO has been very responsive and fixed bugs fast. And they keep adding features, which I love. I had my ASIAIR modified to add an exterior Wi-Fi antenna, which works great & solves the issue with short Wi-Fi range. Seriously considering buying another Air to leave on my observatory telescope, ditching the PC entirely. The other night at my astronomy club star party we ASIAIR guys were trash talking with the NINA guys, and we were cracking ourselves up. All fun. Seriously, the AIR is an excellent device, and the app is great.
Sportfan1969,
Astronomy, Astrophotography, EAA for the masses!
I have been using ZWO ASIair for about 3 years now with the original ASIair, ASIair Pro, ASIair Plus, and now the ASIair Mini. The ASIair app has evolved quite a bit over the past 3 years. The developers, the BETA team, and the ZWO user community are all very responsive when it comes to responding to questions and working out “bugs”. ZWO has consistently added features to the platform.
The ASIair app simplifies control of Telescope Mounts, DSLR and dedicated Astronomy Cameras, Focusers, Filter Wheels, guide cameras, and dew heaters.
The app makes polar alignment easy, the all-sky polar alignment routine allows for accurate polar alignment with a view of any part of the night sky. Multi-star guiding allows for accurate tracking and long exposures. The recent addition of the Sky Atlas makes finding objects in the sky a breeze!
I wholeheartedly recommend ZWO’s ASIair to anyone looking to begin their journey into Astronomy, Astrophotography, or Electronically Assisted Astronomy.
HeyJP,
Changed my relationship to astronomy
I’ve been using the ZWO ASIAIR Astro controller for about 3 years now and love it. For a few years before, I had taken simple astrophotography from my telescope on an alt/az mount, no need for fancy guiding, but limiting me to 30sec exposures. But i had never switched to an equatorial mount or automated guiding because of the intimidation of all the pieces of software needed. Enter the ASIAIR. I received mybASIAIR and new equatorial mount and guide scope. Hooked them up. Connected everything with the ASIAIR as the hub. And was making gorgeous 5-minute exposures that night!! And, while the outside Colorado temperature was 15 degrees, I was running my scope with ASIAIR on my iPad… sitting next to the fireplace in my living room!

I shoot every clear night now. Really added fun to astronomy.
MatthewMorgan78255,
ASIAIR app- always improving!
I have been using the ASIair for several years and have been through many upgrades. Occasionally there are issues introduced but quickly remedied because the company is very responsive to its customers! The things I have been able to do with this system are simply amazing. Other solutions out there are complex for beginners and still complex once you are more advanced because of all the wires and laptops and such. The simple unit takes care of all of that!
Svshaiabsua wbauau,
Fix the bugs
I have really enjoyed using this product but the bugs in the app is beyond annoying. For starters if I’m using my cell phone I have to turn off cellular service in order for the app to discover the ASIAIR network. It keep searching for the device on my mobile network if I leave it on.

Second thing that’s beyond annoying. Because I’m using my cell phone I have to turn off my Wi-Fi to my home network in order to connect to the device also my cell service so I have no Internet connection on my cell phone. I have tried multiple times to connect it to my home network but it keeps saying that the password is not correct when I know for a fact it is. That’s not the most annoying part the device repeatedly tries to connect to my network over and over and keeps failing and kicks me out of the hotspot network to the device. I am forced to hard restart the device in order for it to connect to my phone again which again I have no Internet or cell service doing this.

I spend most of my night fighting the bugs in the app instead of taking photos of the stars.

Please fix this the most annoying bug. Even Youtubers have discussed that this is a problem
The Broke Astronomer,
Asiair pro
This device has been working very well for me. I have an ioptron cem26 mount and the asiair pro has been working very well with it for several months. I also added a WiFi repeater to my network and can control everything from inside the house. But since I live in North Central Florida, the weather out there at night has been perfect, so I like just staying outside! If the asiair plus is as advertised I would not hesitate to add it to my kit. The app has had no problems so far. Well made equipment.
Sfscully,
Incredible Device
If you’re just getting started in astrophotography, this is a critical bit of kit to purchase. It brings everything (goto, guiding, autofocus, imaging, planning and more) together in one intuitive interface and enables you to control everything from a nice warm couch or set it and forget it and go to bed! What’s even more amazing is that they keep adding significant new features like live stacking, which is super fun to show friends a developing image in realtime.
Schprinkt,
It just works
I’ve been using the ASIAIR PRO for almost a year and I’ve never had any issues. It just works right outta the box. It’s rugged too. My lawn sprinklers came on and hosed it down for a straight 5 minutes. I powered it off, let it dry for a week or 2 and it booted right up like nothing happened. It may not have as many advanced features as other Astro software but the bottom line is I get good images and data and that’s what matters.
Nighttrain2012,
Very intuitive and easy to use
Starting astrophotography as a hobby a little over two months ago I was a little concerned about how to control everything. Option 1 was buy a laptop and download more than a few apps with multiple screens. Option 2, ASIAIR with one pane of glass. Still so much to learn but this app has made it just that little bit easier for me to really get into the hobby. Definitely recommend it
