AXIS Companion Hack 7.11.153 + Redeem Codes

Firmware updates to the Axis cameras are frequent to the point it’s annoying. Developers think they are doing you a favor by doing this, but never stop to think most of us have dozens if not more devices and apps to contend with.

The last update would not accept my login credentials so I had to go the “forgot password” route to regain access to my cameras. You cannot copy and paste your password into the block, nor can you see what you’ve entered once your done. Just a bunch of dots. There is no immediate feedback after entering your login information so you have to wait for something to happen.

For sanity’s sake, I changed my password from a long complex one to a very simple one to reduce the chance of an error entering my information. In the future I will be ignoring camera firmware updates until I’m ready to update my cameras, not when they show up every couple of weeks.

Was told by my security firm Axis has the best cameras & security app. The app is easy to use & I like the clarity of cams & zoom features.
Been using app for 9 months. App has MAJOR issue:
1. It leaves/skips large gaps of time unmonitored. For instance, from 1:20pm to 9:10am the next day, 8:14pm to 9:37am the next day, etc, there are no notifications nor coverage. I know there is motion as I have roads & wildlife around my home. This is a huge disappointment & SAFETY ISSUE!
2. Speaking of motion, there were a few places I didn’t want camera detection. I set up the parameters to have it not detect but it fails miserably every day & detects motion. This issue doesn’t bother me as issue #1.
I keep waiting for #1 to be repaired each time I receive an update notification. Axis doesn’t seem to be updating this issue in their app. What security company leaves their customers vulnerable to criminals?

When great ambitions fall short… Great Ui but terrible follow-through. I tried to get a brand new Axis S3008 going, but was never able to add any of my existing cameras. Kept getting the “invalid device credentials” error on everything. After a factory reset the app was never able to communicate with the box because there is NO WAY TO REMOFE DEVICES. So your only option is to create another entire axis account and go through one touch again. But it doesn’t matter because I STILL can’t access the cameras due to the above error. There’s nowhere to input camera credentials for those that are “invalid”. Try to setup via the web? Good luck, no ability to add cameras there either. Only the windows desktop app has the above abilities. So it’s Sudo-required for anything to work. I never could get any camera to work with it despite the S3008 documentation starting it should work with any axis camera on at least firmware v5 (mine are running v6)

Inside the network, playback video loads quickly without issue. However, when playing remotely, I almost always get “We lost the connection. Try again” error. This happens across all of our sites.

I’ve also requested features over the years that never seem to happen. Why the Camera Station has features that Companion doesn’t and vice versa is beyond me. Having the ability to receive Axis Radar alerts/events from the app would be huge. Also not sure why you don’t get the additional PTZ options such as wiper, heater, etc. from the companion app.

Events is a great feature. It should show all events thou regardless if you have the cameras sending notifications or not.

Needs:

-Setting to have HQ always on

-be able to modify cameras with the app without needing a PC (motion, recording settings, notifications, etc.)

-scrolling view (so cameras can take up entire screen (not have to make cameras small to fit, just have list and scroll.

-be able to see storage left on recorder

- a snapshot in the notifications. Maybe a couple of seconds after the activity so you know if you have an issue or it’s just a roaming cat.

Bug: When using the 2X8 view if you turn the phone to landscape then to portrait again the cameras get screwed up and some go out of view.

The app works fine when it’s functioning. Problem is it doesn’t always work. I get logged out often and it doesn’t always sync with the cameras, so there will be time lapse that aren’t recorded or seen live. As of right now, I’ve been logged off and the app will not open the sign in screen.

I'm on the same network. All recorded camera videos are 10-20 minutes delayed on the app! I can use a browser and review something that just happened, but I can't zoom in the browser. 20 minutes later and the iOS app STILL doesn't list the footage, so I can't review it. REALLY?

I really like the progress Axis has been making with the Companion offering.

I use Axis devices exclusively in all of my business locations and the Companion software is great for home (and for small businesses).

I would love to see support added for the A9161 for notifications.

Axis is missing the boat on integrating with Apple HomeKit. There is a huge market of prosumers looking for HomeKit supported POE cameras, including a video doorbell (two things Axis is the clear leader in). I really hope Axis explores this avenue.

FIX THE FREAKING BUGS! I want to go back to v.8.6.1. When things worked! Very frustrating! Now it takes longer to connect on the iOS app and when there is a motion notification alert it won’t connect consistently to view it! Most of the time it doesn’t connect anymore until you mess with it fir a while including logging off and back on. It worked perfectly until after the 8.6.1 update. FIX IT AND LEAVE IT ALONE!

All video and basic functions work quite well for a consumer or small business, but when monitoring a camera with audio it constantly stutters or cuts out. Often you can fix it for a few minutes by switching to high quality and back, but this is unacceptable and didn’t happen with the classic software.
