No matter your proficiency in the Armenian language, AYOlingo provides an easy and free learning experience for Armenian language learners.
The app currently has 90 modules, with 30 more to be released in the future. The app will help you learn Armenian and teach you:
- the basics of the Armenian language
- grammatical tenses
- animal names
- common phrases
- feeling expression
- numbers
- adjectives
- food
And much more.
The app also has a vocabulary section to help you look up the words in the Armenian language easier.
You can also follow your friends and see their progress in learning Armenian. Some friendly competition will, of course, help you learn more efficiently through our leaderboard.
The app teaches you Armenian through a variety of exercises:

Fix this please!
I’m so glad this app exists. I speak Western Armenian but am heading to Armenia in a week and this has been a super helpful tool in learning how to understand the eastern dialect. The app has one major problem that has made it unusable for me at he moment.
I’ve reached the third lesson of the 18th module, Food 1, and I can’t progress because one of the questions is broken. The multiple choice question for Chicken (meat) has no correct answer. I thought I might have been wrong at first (obviously I know the word for chicken) so when it came up again I picked something else, but that was wrong too. I tried all the answers and none of them registered as correct. Because of the way the app is structured, it won’t let you continue on to the next lesson without completing the previous one 100%. This is extremely frustrating and I hope you can fix this soon.
Otherwise, this is an amazing app for learning Eastern Armenian! Maybe someday there might be a Western Armenian version too???

Good app, but ONE BIG issue
I just downloaded and began using AYOlingo to learn Eastern Armenian (my background is Western Armenian). So far I like the approach and I am basically satisfied with the app. But there is a major issue that is incomprehensible to me: why are apostrophes used in the English transliteration? E.g., for two, “yerk’u” is written and not “yerku.” In English, the apostrophe is used for the possessive form of a noun or for a contraction of two words. In musical lyrics, the apostrophe can be used to indicate a pause in the singing of a word. None of these apply in the English transliterations shown. Please, eliminate the unnecessary apostrophes and you will be doing everyone a big favor and you’ll (a contraction) earn five stars from me.

Great app with numerous fixable bugs
This app is amazing and has been extremely useful for me in learning Armenian, I can chug out a couple modules in my free time every day. There are a significant amount of bugs that are somewhat annoying (some exercises have the words already in order, a few exercises aren’t actually completable Bc there are 2x needed words compared to how many are given, the spoken word isn’t always the actual word, and the app crashes after each module I complete), but the app is extremely useful inspire of these issues, and these bugs can definitely be ironed out. I’m overjoyed that the effort to make this app happened, and I really hope it keeps receiving updates. Giving it 5 stars despite the bugs due to how useful it is

Recent improvements made a big difference
Over the past few months, I’ve been searching for a way to learn Armenian that worked well for my learning style. I have no Armenian heritage and no significant exposure to the language, but am trying to learn from scratch in order to prepare for the possibility of living in Armenia for work
Sadly, there’s not a lot of options for learning Armenian out there. But I found this app early in my search and decided to try it out. I didn’t much care for it at the time and ended up deleting it, it just didn’t do much for me
Recently however, I downloaded it again to make use of its alphabet chart, and discovered that the UI and lessons had been reworked. After checking out the improvements, I’m having a much easier time working in the app and can feel myself beginning to improve
Just wanted to say a quick thank you to the developers for putting this resource out there!

Has a lot of potential
This is easily the most accessible way I’ve seen for me to start learning Armenian again and I’m very grateful this app exists. I do have a couple problems. 1)still has bug issues, often logs out for no reason 2) the biggest one is if you get a card wrong, it gives you the correct answer in the Armenian alphabet only. I can’t tell you how frustrating it is to not know what your doing wrong time and time again. 3) and this is probably a big ask, I’d love be able to choose between eastern and Western Armenian. My family speaks western and I constantly have to ask them if this is how we would say it. I have no Eastern Armenian speakers in my life so it’s a little annoying.

Edit: I can log in now and the app is really good. I can finally speak some words in my Nana’s first language. Also, to everyone reading or writing reviews saying “this app is not for beginners” the app has a feature where if you click on the Armenian word, the English word will come up, so that should solve your problem

Overall I believe this is a great app. I do find a couple of small issues with it however.
Firstly, it would be really cool to be able to turn the transliteration on or off. At first having it was helpful, but after becoming better with the Armenian alphabet, it would be nice to turn it off. My eye is always drawn to the English letters since that is what I am used to seeing and now I really need to practice reading in Armenian.
Now for the big problem which had been mentioned here before. Randomly the program just won’t let you log on. And yes, it sometimes lasts for weeks. At first I thought it was due to work being done on the app, but I no longer think this. It’s seems to be a glitch I. The program.
I think both these things should be an easy fix. I hope that it will happen. In a few months I will be going to Armenia with my family for a couple of months and I surely can use all the help I can get with learning the language.

I like it but...
I want to rate this app higher, however there’s a big problem. I’ve had it about two months, and I stopped using it because it wouldn’t let me get past Module 1. A random day it let me get to Module 2, but again it won’t let me finish the module( only shows Module 1 and I have 175% of the first Module). I’m connected to the internet, I’ve tried logging out and even uninstalling the app. The good part of this app is that it uses sentences along with teaching vocabulary words. I really enjoy the lessons, I just wish that I could go to the other modules. Please fix this issue, so I can continue learning.

Great app, but has errors
So I’m learning Armenian. I know the alphabet so I can read write but have very little vocabulary and forgot all the sentence structures/grammar. I started using this app and it helped me tremendously. I do not speak the language but understand it amongst Eastern Armenian speakers if they use proper words instead of slang. This app, again, has been super useful and I’m so looking forward to go pass this module 4 but cannot because there’s an error in the selection of words. Please correct so I can move forward. Module 4 second section I believe has a translation request for “I don’t know that word in Armenian.” The word “in” is missing from the options to choose from. I have pictures to prove it but can’t seem to post it on here. Please help!

It’s Wonderful… When It Works
I love this app for reviewing and brushing up on my Armenian. I’m a native speaker but don’t have many people to speak with, so I’ve been using this to keep it fresh in my mind. I have completed all the lessons in Basics 1, but when I try to open any other lesson, nothing comes up except an error message. I would love to be able to advance in the lessons. Not sure if I’m doing something wrong or if it’s the app, but the error message has me thinking it’s the app. This is a wonderful app and I’d love to be able to use it!
