A seriously fun and addicting baseball game!

I rarely write reviews, and I am typically not a big fan of mobile games, but this game surprised me. Despite being a PvP game designed around quick, 1 inning matches, it has a surprising amount of depth. Each player on your team has a special skill. Some players have an offensive skill, like a power boost when batting and a fastball is pitched; other players have a defensive skill, like the ability to throw the ball insanely fast to a base after fielding it; and pitchers have a pitching skill, such as a boost to their control as long as they have no balls in the count. Mixing and matching different players allows you to build a team with a skill set that fits your play style and has a major effect on each game. I must mention that most players in the game have to be unlocked, but so far I haven’t spent any money and I have unlocked most of them simply by playing the game. The pitching and hitting system works very well and is actually better than many console baseball games I have played over the years. If you are reading this devs, I think you have the basis for a solid console baseball game. Take what you have already done and just expand on it. Create more players, expand the customization of teams/logos/etc and allow people to play longer games (6- 9 innings) and you could have a seriously awesome console baseball game here. As is, you already have an excellent mobile baseball game… I just want more!

Hmmm

Question? I’m curious after reading all the reviews is there any way for the developers to answer what percent of the games are real players? Nobody wants to sit and wait for long times to play so I understand playing against and ai. There have been games in the past with good concepts that just never made it because the ai era wasn’t developed enough. But my review of the game itself is probably the best baseball game ever made it terms of balance and performance, ease of play and just over all fundamentally well made. You are better at this game if tut played baseball. What would be nice to know is what is happening in a game against the ai is the score already determined before the game because it seems to be able to hit pitches from anywhere and it’s not affected by changing the speed of the pitch. Then when you hit no matter what the timing is you might hit a blooper or a home run the feel of the game changes when you know your playing someone and you can tell that only when a situation happens where you know that someone playing like they throw it to the wrong base. But I’ve spent money on this game because it’s fun to play and if I owned a baseball team I’d have to spend money on players if if I wanted to win so same here. So reguardless if the play to win concept it’s a great game to get into.

Fantastic game... but

This game is fantastic! To be completely honest these graphics are pretty good. Theres very little lag when hitting or pitching. The games are fair to say the least in terms of difficulty (even having a great player card statistically won’t guarantee anything). It truly comes down to swing timing, pitch selection and location to hit the ball well. I have no issues with the hitting mechanics; I would like to see more home runs on balls that are hit in the gap instead. I feel like theres nothing much more I could do to hit the ball perfectly. The pitching mechanics are perfect in my opinion. The only serious thing that I believe should be updated are the base running mechanics. It is very difficult to have a successful rundown without completely psyching out the opposing fielding team to throwing to the wrong base. Once you are caught in between any base the send back and send forward buttons are slightly delayed and most of the time would not follow through with going back or forward if you're in a run down (If you change directions running the bases you're pretty much locked in until you reach the next base, terrible for rundowns being the baserunner). Once again one of the best and greatest baseball games I’ve ever played, PERIOD!

Garbage

This game is absolute garbage from the start. While game play is pretty basic and easy, there are far too many issues with this game to spend time, let alone money on. For starters, base runners who decide to return to a base after realizing they are going to be thrown out take forever to change directions. If you are caught in a pickle, there is next to know chance of getting out of it safely, as they change of direction takes forever. Secondly, the lag in the game is ridiculous. I can’t tell you how many times I have pitched to a batter, the game lagged, and next thing I know my next pitch timer is already down to 1 second, the batter is either already at first base or the game freezes. Which brings me to my next issue. The game freezes so often after I win and lose, that I have to restart the game, only to find that if I did win, I don’t get those trophies and gold baseballs, towards my chests. More on the lag. I have had it numerous times where I’m running to a base and know 100% that I am going to be safe, only for the game to lag, the defense throws the ball to the base I should be standing on, my runner disappears, the defender swipes as if tagging me (only I’m not there anymore) and then the umpire makes the out call. I’ve lost multiple games like this because this very thing has happened at home plate. I could go on and on, but overall, don’t waste your time on this game. At least not until all these issues are fixed.

Extremely fun, just buggy

I love the game. It’s the first game I’ve felt was worth paying for and I’ve give it a 5 five star rating expect for how buggy it is. I’ve lost a few games because of it. Sometimes it will not allow me to pick off a runner. I press the base I want to throw to multiple times, but it won’t allow me to throw. This happens about 5 percent of the time. Occasionally the same thing happens when pitching. I choose a pitch, but it won’t register and so it ends up using the previous pitch. If I’m not fast and quickly move the position of the pitch, it will throw the ball at the center of the strike zone. The last thing that has hurt me is that at times, about 10 percent of the time, it takes me multiple times pressing the bad I want to throw to before it finally will throw. This is what has lost me the most games and can be extremely frustrating. Other than those frustrations, I truly enjoy the game. The graphics are great, it requires a lot of thought in choosing you team, who best to place at each position, etc. it gives the free users the opportunity to play without commercials. That was what sold me on spending money and I truly appreciate and reward the company for it. Overall a very fun game that I recommend with the above caveats.

What happened after update?

UPDATED REVIEW: was 3 stars now 4.5 again

Last update really helped with the hitting problem from previous update. You can actually hit the ball again. I don’t see cheating but very rare glitch on safe/out calls. Very rare in my experience. Only issue is the cost of buying upgrade cases. Example: For the amount of $ for a “Legendary Chest” you should certainly obtain a better ratio of Legendary Cards. It costs 2,500 gems which is approximately $25 real world dollars. BUT YOU ONLY GET 1 LEGENDARY CARD!!! That’s insane. For that cash you should get a minimum of 5. Just saying devs. Good update though. Keep up the improvements and we will have a 5 star game all day.

This game was an easy 4/5 star. Even spent occasional real $. But since update the batting strength of hitters is garbage. Most games have 90% ground balls for outs. And most of hose are weak hits. I tested my theory after 6 games. I chose batting practice. Chose top legend hitter and maxed out to level 13 against a level 3 common pitcher. The results were awful. This matchup used to result in 8-12 home runs over 100 pitches. Which would be accurate in real MLB. Instead it was awful. Way too many bloops and ground balls with rare HR. FIX THE BATTING FOR BETTER RATING.

Has potential to be great

Pros: Matches are fairly quick. Not that difficult to pickup. Can play F2P and still win against P2W players. Rewards are fair. Achievements range from easy to difficult but not a big deal really.
Cons: The your defense A.I. isn’t all that smart or it’s a RNG thing. Like there are times the A.I. should’ve dove at a ground ball but doesn’t. Or the A.I. switches from a better throwing outfielder to a lesser character. And you have no control over what character/player is going to make that play. There’s a fair competitive mechanic in the game. That after you’ve out scored your opponent by 4 runs. It handicaps you to get out easier.
The latest update new feature is adding clubs to join. Which currently right now, I see no real benefits or perks. Except that you can donate card(characters) to your members. But it’s only low level cards. Which rarely will you put into play once you’ve obtained better players(cards) to replace them. Currently there’s no club vs. club tournaments or some kind of rewards for the best club. So we’ll see how this new feature plays out in the future. Other then that, its a good casual pass time game.

Read before downloading

This could be a really fun game if wasn’t for all the glitches the developers obviously don’t want to fix! If I could go lower than one star I would! The need to make up their minds on if this game is meant for fun or to like real baseball! You can’t have be both ways! They have players who can run super sonic speed, throw super fast and hard, and jump 15 feet but yet players have throwing errors and catching errors??? I’ve had my players called out when they obviously touched the base before the ball gets there! I’ve had players hit the ball and you can see the ball hit the ground yet called out?? I’ve had the ball hit directly to my first base and they are standing on the base yet the runner is called safe?? When the ball hits the top of the fence in out field that’s either a home run or a double?? You lose out on outs because it takes to long for the players to throw the ball?? There obvious cheating also! I threw at a opposing players head and he was hitting home runs?? My thought is that the developers are cheating if they are refusing to fix all these glitches!! The game continually freezes also! When you finally get back after it freezes you usually end up losing also! Like I said before, this game could be so much fun but all these glitches make it frustrating and unenjoyable!

Slightly favored

This game is enjoyable enough. It’s a bit glitchy however it’s certainly decent to play periodically. The graphics are up to par, the characters are fun.. my only draw back is the more you progress the more this game is skewed to people who pay to play. If you do not pay to play and you 1v1 some who does you will notice: 1) even when you hit the ball square the ball goes no where 2) you will commit errors more frequently than those who pay 3) the opponent you play who pays gets a better ball contact radius. It’s fun enough and the devs do give chest more frequently however it’s frustrating to play an opponent who is a pay player and the odds are in that players favor.

Edit: after making this review, the more I’ve played this game the more I’m starting to despise it. It’s not slightly skewed in favor of a person who pays… ITS HEAVILY skewed in favor of a person who pays to play. I do not pay, and will not even more so now. Because of this fact, I commit more errors than hits. My team commits errors on simplest of routine plays. I’ve YET to see a person who pays commit any errors. When I get solid hit according the hitting gauge, the ball goes next to no where. The person I’m playing hits balls way out of the strike zone for home runs and base hits. This game is not fair in the slightest and will soon be deleting.

Makes 0 sense

Even if you dont get out you will still get out!!! Let me explain; i was playing a game and i had an obvious safe on second base because the opponents 2nd base man ran away from his spot and my guy slides in and is now on the base already. My opponents 2nd base man ran towards the ball, picked it up and ran back to second base (where my guy was already standing on the base) and apparently got him out (he was already on second base for 1.7 seconds) then he threw the ball to first base and caught my runner who is 200level out. (2 outs in total and its only my second hit) but no the game decides that its his turn after two outs and makes us switch sides! As soon as that happened I instantly closed off the game and deleted it! They want u to spend money on this game; DONT its not worth it! Plus the game chooses when u hit the ball! I got a pitch at 78mph and swung at the ball with perfect timing (my timing was on the white line in between too late and to early) but i still have been struck out even with me being on auto and having 200level legends!!! This is not a game its an app of algorithms! THEY CHOOSE WHEN U WIN AND MOVE ON! Most people who spend money on the game get easier games and better players then the people who dont!! My advice deleted the game and download MLB mobile! You at least have a chance to a fair game
