Unleash your potential with Better Habits premium! Unlimited Habits, Multiple actions per day, Advanced reminders.
This is the largest update since the original release of Better Habits!

• Unlimited Habits
By far the most requested feature has been to allow users to have as many habits as they want. When I initially chose to only allow users a maximum of three active habits at one time, it was a risk. I was basing it off of scientific study and expert advice. Some users loved that they could only set 3 habits, but so many others screamed they wanted more. While I would still advise people to consider a focused approach to habit formation, I have to be honest and say that I have felt liberated having more than three habits at a time. Now you can have all of the stats, streaks, attempts and overall progress graphs on as many habits as you want! Unlimited habits, unlimited potential!

• Multiple Actions per Day
I don't understand why many apps don't offer this. The majority of the ones that do are too complex for people who want a simple habit tracker. With Better Habits it's easy, select how many times you want to perform the action each day, then tap and fill the circle with proportional slices, like a pizza. This is super useful for habits like drinking eight glasses of water a day, and SUPER powerful when combined with advanced reminders.

• Advanced Reminders
This is one of the most, if not the most robust reminders systems inside of a habit tracking app available today. There's just no other way to put it. There's three main chunks:

* Multiple reminders per day
* Nag alerts
* Custom snooze times

While multiple reminders per day is pretty straightforward, nag and snooze are a bit more complex. Nag is a reminder with a bit of an attitude. When you select nag, you will get repeated notifications until you complete the daily action for the habit or select 'stop nagging' from the smart notification. Snooze allows you to set a custom snooze time for each reminder. For example, "Drink water" might be a snooze of 10 minutes, while "Do yoga" might be an hour.

Combining Nag and Snooze can be really powerful. Let's say for example you want to be reminded to drink water. You set up multiple reminders throughout the day. You know that at 10am and 2pm you will likely be pretty distracted, so you tell Better Habits to nag you every 5 minutes. You also know that at 2pm, you may not be able to get away, so you set a Snooze time of 30 minutes. Got the scenario in your head? Cool...

So 10:00 am rolls around, you get a notification and sure enough you're distracted and miss it. You get another one at 10:05, still distracted. You get the third one at 10:10, and for this one you see it and drink some water. Later that day at 2:00 pm you get a notification, you see it, but you're in a meeting. Knowing you'll be in the meeting for a while and don't want to be nagged, you hit snooze. It's 2:30 and you're just wrapping up the meeting, you get a notification and miss it. All is lost right? Nope, you get another one at 2:35 because Better Habits knows to nag you. You see it, you drink water, you feel hydrated, you feel supported, you feel happy.

Venus_Virus,
GROUNDBREAKING
I’ve tried literally every habit tracking app in the App Store & this is a complete flexx 💪🏼 on all of them. Building a habit is more than just a consecutive streak for 30 days. A real true habit that is automatic to us often takes 90 days tbh so that’s why I love the way the app takes this into account. The only suggestion I can think of is maybe in the area where there are pre-listed habits, to add researched tips on how to best incorporate them. Tips like habit stacking sequences, cues/triggers, significance of environment, peer group, etc. For example if you want to work out daily suggest making new friends who live the gym fitness lifestyle or the daily guitar practice gives specific tip like making sure you have obvious alignment & eliminate friction by placing guitar in the center of the room. It’s really a great app I was kinda shocked how good I put this on the first page of my phone screen - that’s prime real estate ok 😂 👌🏼
billipo,
Dev listens to fans/users
Update 2: I can finally give this app five stars. Jared has put a lot of thought, research and work into this app. I can't get myself to do anything daily without the nag feature. Thanks for brining back classic nagging! If only it worked with Snoozing, but I understand it's a limitation of iOS, not the app.

Update: I have come to rely on this app to remind me to run. Its nag feature is genius. I also love the graph over the last few weeks of your ability to stick to the task. Thanks for the habit tool! Truly one that is useful.

If this had an option to remind you multiple times a day to stretch or drink water, I would give it five stars. As is, it will help me with habits that need performed once a day.
frankroshi,
Probably a Killer App, I’ll Find Out
EDIT: I WAS RIGHT!

It was user error. I set all the settings correctly in the app, but had disallowed notifications in Settings>Notifications>Better Habits...

I may be back to bump to 5 stars... lemme use it first...

Later same day...

All my editorializing today has been after the daily reminders; I just saw a “2” badge on the app icon; I searched every menu option I can find and cannot find the source of the red 2 on my dock app icon...
************************************************
(Original Post)

It is probably user error.

I’ve had the app for two or more months. I thought I set reminders in the beginning, but I’ve never been reminded. Being reminded and tracking actual behavior is why I bought the app.

This morning I was looking at the apps in my iPhone 7 Plus dock. The fourth one was a blue icon with what looked like a mountain range on it. I clicked it. It’s this app. I recalled getting it and the zero assistance provided and began this review.

I’m not a newbie and also have a Series 3 Apple Watch. If the developer follows these reviews, I may find that I am up and running in no time. In that case, my revision may include 5 stars.

I love the concept. Help me make it work.
Red Fire Tia,
Better Habits: Real Motivation.
This is by far the best app I have ever used to motivate me to perfect or change habits in my life. The progress of your habits will either advance or slide back wards everyday, depending what you record. It is positive reinforcement whether it is a good move or not. You can see what is happening everyday with no sugar coating any lapses. The affirmations are point on and yet subtle. This is the only scientifically based app I have encountered. It has helped me form positive habits and this is the first app I checkout when I wake up. It is unbelievably easy to use. I recommend this app to everyone whether you want to create or break a habit. This app will deliver. 👍🏻
Mo the human,
Life changer!
Okay, who really thinks that a three dollar app can change your life? I bought this app on a whim figuring, “Well, maybe it will be useless, but I’ll take a $3 gamble that it might help me with a few things.” I can honestly say that the simple format and clear layout are totally effective. I have already integrated a few habits that were evading me for years! I now recommend this app to all of my coaching clients to help them get their lives in order.
Shmorginload,
Love the app
I love the soothing colors and the little sounds it makes when you complete a habit for the day. You have the ability to make your own habits, picking a color, picture icon, and difficulty. You can go premium where it shows all of your habits on active display or keep it free where it only shows 3 habits on active display and the rest of the habits are queued. However, when you completely finish a habit, the app crashes. It also crashes when you try to delete a habit, it can get frustrating. Otherwise a great app for creating good habits.
ruthlessrsviewer,
Great but needs to be adjustable
I work third shift so half way though my day it starts a new day. I would like there to be an option to be available for third shift workers. I work from 8pm to 8 am so for those that don’t work third shift that’s like the app resetting at 12 pm. I bought a years subscription but I don’t know if it was the. Best choice as I’ve forced to get stuff done in half the time everyone else is.
Rajkpersaud,
Desperately Needs to be UPDATED
I’ve been a premium user for over a year now. There’s no doubt about it: its application of Nag Reminders to continuously push you to complete a habit for that day is brilliant. I’m astonished that no other habit app has adopted this feature because it makes a huge difference, especially given how easy it is to ignore a single reminder these days. Where this app falls short though is in staying updated.

1) How can you call yourself a serious habits app when you DON’T have an Apple Watch version? Or a Web App version? This makes it difficult for me to quickly check off my habits when I’m working at my Mac, for example, and my phone is on silent. As a professional, this is a frequent experience.

2) The last update was A YEAR AGO. I don’t understand how you can expect users to trust you when you are barely ensuring the app is optimized for the latest iOS.

Because of this I have had to end my subscription and delete Better Habits.
Jonaz89,
Best habit tracking app!
I don’t usually write reviews, but I have to say this is one of the most useful apps I’ve ever had! It gives you motivation to keep going with your good habits, it has a very nice and clean interface, it’s easy to use and just works great! I have already formed to cornerstone habits for my daily life: meditation and reading. Now I’ll keep going with running and journaling.
lquisp,
Went nuts on me
This was a great habit tracker at first but then it went crazy on me. It began “reminding” me to track my habit even when I had checked it off for the day and even when I turned off “nag,” then finally turned off reminder altogether.

I had 3 habits I was tracking so deleted the habit that went nuts. The next night, habit #2 did the same thing. I finally, say, ended up deleting the whole app.

I also noticed that there were days it didn’t track though I pressed them and it also lost stats. So, I couldn’t give it 5 stars (or even close).
