Description

Bid Whist is an exciting, popular partnership trick-taking game. It is played with a standard 52 card deck plus 2 jokers, for a total of 54 cards. There are 4 players consisting of two teams of two; each player sits opposite their partner. The game starts with each team at zero, and the object of the game is to reach a score 7 or more points, or force the other team to go negative 7 or more points. Points are scored by bidding for and winning tricks, which in this game are called books.

*No Trump Bids will double your points(win or lose the bid)
*First Dealer is picked at Random

The Bidding

The turn to bid goes around the table only once starting with the player to the left of the dealer. Each bid consists of a number from 4 to 7, and a suffix "uptown", "downtown", or "no trump".

The number indicates the number of books above 6 that the bidder's team will contract to win - for example a bid of 5 is a promise to win at least 11 books (6 + 5). As there are 13 books in all, 7 is the highest possible bid.
Uptown (or "high") means you intend to name a trump suit, and that high cards will win.
Downtown (or "low") means that you intend to name a trump suit, and that low cards will win.
No Trump means that there will be no trump, and that if you win the bidding you will then determine whether high or low cards will have preference.

Ads

The ads are horrible. At time I can close out the ad, that’s no problem. But when you cannot close out the ads and you cannot play the game. I have to delete the game and download it again.

Yes, your partner will made a bad bid in a second.

The game itself if good. The ads are horrible as you cannot close them out and your partner makes bad bids. Based on this I am given them a two star.

Horrible Partner

By biggest issue with the game is the partner. Here are a few things that a human partner would know to do: 1) if I have the bid and I play a middle trump, try to win the trick. Play your HIGHEST trump. I need that to get out. 2) once WE are the only players with trump, STOP playing them. 3) in a no trump hand, and I have the bud, PLAY TO WIN AND DINT OPEN ANOTHER SUIT IF YIU CANNOT WIN THE TRICK. Play back the suit I started the hand with. 4) learn to bid a hand. My partner has made 5 bids when their hand was not even close. This game could be so good but these need to be fixed.

After I left this review I tried to play again. And it is as horrible as it always has been.

Good pastime but update well needed

This is the best one that I’ve found as a pastime, however, I strongly suggest an update by someone with better skills/knowledge of the game itself. I suggest that you take advantage of game settings to the best of your ability. Your “ partner “ UNNECESSARILY takes the DUMBEST risks for no reason. I’ve lost sooo many “ Bostons “ simply because my “ partner “ goes back to the one suit that I clearly don’t have.

Large Number of Annoying Ads

Played this game off and on for a couple of years The number of adds between games have increased, particularly on
IPhone. It is no longer a top game for me.

Computer Partner Algorithm

I really like the game and it helps me improve my skills. But my computer partner likes to bid no Trump and never makes it. That’s my only complaint.

Poor Partnering

As noted in previous reviews, my partner purposely loses tricks in addition to not having a clue how to play a no-trump bid. Introducing a suit not played by your partner is a definite no-no. A choice of card fonts and the ability to replay a trick is also needed. This game leaves a lot to be desired!!!

Loser partner

Never plays the Ace, will take your bid out and lose. Also the new features to play with live features doesn’t work

Cheaters

Single game play is so very rigged...computer gets big and has every card in the suit...you get the bid and hardly ever do you get enough to make the bid...don’t even talk about the single play partner...it never plays the right card! It’s a rigged game and not in your favor.

Adds are okay but they won’t let you play the game y

I sign in to play this game I want to play this game. I accept ads but not one that forces a close and restart or opens the game and or the App Store with no way past it will force me to delete the game all together.
You’re ruining the game all together.

Ads

Can you please remove the Bubble Ad after a game has been won. It will not allow me to close it out without downloading it.

Also, I’m wondering why my East partner does not play the highest card when given the opportunity? I often lose as a result.
