It’s not the worst movie-maker game out there. It’s just that I have two major issues with the game:
1. It’s too easy to make a succesful film. Sure, it starts out as a challenge and all, but once your studio has enough money, you can power out a masterpiece almost every movie. It doesn’t really come down to thinking, skill and creativity, but it more depends on just who you hire. All you need to do is hire some good staff (which is very easy once you have the money) and then you have a 10/10 masterpiece on your hands. Boom. You can’t control the special effects, what the movie’s about (at least in-depth), no complex mechanics, not much. Just get good actors and it’s a good movie.
2. Ok, I made my point already. There’s not really any interesting story mechanics (I mean randomly generated encounters or such) nor is there any interesting or complex systems. Just simply toss a load of money and choose the right people and your movie’s great.
Again, this game is far from the worst, and I’m having fun playing, so don’t get me wrong. However, these issues must be fixed in some way.
