My son got bit by something I was told it was a sand gnat so I just went to sleep and I had a dream that these bugs was all over my son body! I got up and start googling bugs and it just didn’t look like what I was told it was, so I downloaded this app and when I took the picture it was giving me different bugs, so I asked an expert and he told me it might be a tick and to bring him to the hospital and I google ticks and it looked just like it so now I’m nervous crying but I am at the hospital awaiting the doctor to come in but Roman was very helpful I’m grateful for this app

It’s not free. Just another scam to get your hard earned money.
Total crap. Can’t identify unless you subscribe. Sure you can eventually get it to give you a free trial but it’s just a scam to get you to forget u subscribed after looking up one bug and end up paying. Dont waste your time. Spend couple extra minutes searching online just using a description of bug and searching through online pictures. Then get your results for free. I get purpose of apps is to make money. But make it with ads for those who don’t want anything but just to know what they have found. Charge money to those who want to get the premium stuff that really isn’t worth it. It shouldn’t cost a single cent for simply identifying a bug. If you want money for that, then make people watch a really short ad and let the ones who don’t care about money sign up for premium option to get it ad free. That’s my suggestion. I won’t ever sign up for subscription just so you hope I forget about it and you take my money.

$30 to find out what insect it is
I got this app because where I live there are lots of bugs that I am not sure of what they are. I scanned a bug and was waiting for the results when it asked me to pay $30 yearly for it. I was barely ever going to use the app. I would only use it on bugs that look dangerous. It wouldn’t let me see what the ONE bug I scanned was. I would think that the results are correct and it informs you about the insects you scan, but I am not paying $30 dollars for a thing I will use once every other month. Would be great app if you could still get results without paying an absurd amount of money. Maybe make someone pay to be informed about the bug, but just to have the name of it should be free.

This was a great resource in particular the ask an expert feature. We were worried we had found a brown recluse spider in our home and got multiple conflicting identifications through Nextdoor and the iPhone bug identifier. The identification narrowed it down for us and then we were able to get final confirmation through the ask and expert feature.

Within the past few years there has been an increase of spiders and other insects that are not native to Illinois. I have found this app to be helpful identifying the species that have been found living locally that I am unable to identify.

Trick charge and didn’t honor refund
There is a one week free trial, which I attempted to sign up, but I changed from annual to monthly and purchased a monthly subscription at the last moment, not realizing the free trial disappeared.
I requested a refund and it was denied, and then I appealed and it was denied.
I feel like this was a trick payment because the free trial literally disappeared as I was clicking to authorize payment. Btw the app didn’t even work for me, unable to identify a beetle easily identified by a different app.
If they are not going to support a refund on an accidental purchase, there are better apps you can go to.

whats the point?
why present this app as free but when download it you have to pay to use it? i guess what im trying to say is, what happened to if you have to pay money for an app you pay for it when you download it and you see how much it is right there to USE the app instead of having the let down and time wasted to download it and then it slaps you with a payment “suggestion” before you can use the app. if the app is not free upon download. PUT THE PRICE DOWN ON THE APP. instead of hiding the fact you have to pay for something you thought was free to use.

Beware of “Trial Membership”
Signed up for the Free 3 day trial membership and my credit card was billed at exactly the 48 hour point. I wasn’t given the opportunity to cancel if I had decided to do so. This is trickery, be aware. I’ve never run into this problem with any other trial membership before, this speaks volumes about their tactics. Unfortunately, there was no way to cancel once they charged my credit card.
Beware, this probably isn’t the first time this has happened to trial users.

Disappointed
This app quickly identifies insects but the photos I take, which are used to ID the bugs, don’t seem to beforwardable by email or message. What gets sent appears to be an invitation to download the app, when all I wanted to do was send the photo to my pest control guy. If that were not the case it would be a 5-star review. Without it it’s just a 3.

Doesn’t work. You’re better off Googling it
This app doesn’t work at all. I tried identifying multiple different insects and it couldn’t even give me a guess on any of them. I’m better off identifying insects from my own knowledge than with this app. Or typing a description into google and scrolling through photos until I see a matching one. And yes, all the photos were clear, with good lighting, in focus on the insect, only one specimen in the photo, etc.
