Fast and easy
I have used Canvas for over a year on at least 8 projects. I am a design build remodeler that used to field measure and draw a 1/4 scale drawing on graph paper, then draw the same in Chief Architect. That process would take me the better part of 8 hours total including windshield time, measuring and drawing. Now I scan the existing house with my LiDAR sensing iPad then upload to Canvas. Within several days I am able to download the file into Chief Architect and have an as-built plan and 3d of the existing space. I easily save 6 hours on each project and my team has access to the info within days of my scan rather than weeks. This is one of those no-brainers if you are looking to save time and get to other activities.

Amazing use of LiDAR changes the rehab world
Canvas, 30 minutes and a LiDAR equipped camera and you have an amazing real life interior scan of your building. Spend a couple of bucks and you get so much more. This should be in every architects, house flipper’s, homebuyers, real estate agents and etc’s tool box. Gives you a finished product you could only dream of a couple of years ago while saving you thousands of dollars and hours of work measuring. Prepare to be amazed. Must also recognize the dedication of the Canvas team led by their CEO who got on the phone with me when I had a problem. The entrepreneurial spirit and dedication that makes a successful company lives here.

Best new tool!
I recently started using Canvas to measure/model our projects and I wish I had this tool a long time ago! Takes literally minutes to scan a space for a potential remodel as opposed to an hour of manual measurements and sketching… then simply upload the scan and within a couple of days tops, I have a fully detailed “as built” file to open with Chief Architect. From there I can simply start to design the remodel. Creating the as built manually used to take me several hours… and it still wouldn’t be as thorough! Amazing new tool to have… recommend to everyone!

Helpful if you hate measuring by hand
I need to measure homes for each remodeling project of my firm. And I hate it! The 3D model this app provides is decently accurate for most measurements we need, and it saves me a couple of hours per home. I still take critical measurements by myself. You can actually ask their support team to incorporate your measurements in the CAD file they deliver. The app gives you a Revit file. I spend a bit of time to adjust it to our template but it’s like 10x faster than modeling by yourself. Anyway, definitely worth trying.

Purchased LiDAR iPad just for Canvas. Worth it!
A must-have for any contractor! I wish I found this app before, it almost replaces hours of measuring on your knees and then even more hours of as-built 3d modeling. Scanning has a learning curve but is still pretty easy. Accuracy is sufficient for planning and quoting but you’ll definitely want to verify key measurements with a tape measure or a laser before ordering materials and installation. Chief Architect files are very detailed and delivered even faster than advertised – usually in 1-2 days.

Why aren’t you using Canvas already?
Bought my iPad specifically for Canvas and it has been one of the best decisions I’ve made as a business owner. The Canvas team helped me at no extra cost, to fix a rookie mistake I made, because it was my first scan. What other company will do that for you? From then on, I knew we were in good hands. The app works like it’s supposed to, easy to use, saves time and money….Just download it and start using it already, then thank me later.

Amazing tool for architects and designers
This app makes it extremely fast to capture measurements and create as-builts. What used to take me hours or even a full day now takes minutes to capture, and I don’t have to do any drafting or modeling. I just get an email within a day or so with a SketchUp model that’s ready to use (and they offer other formats too). Especially on bigger projects, it’s faster than I would do on my own and definitely way cheaper.

Such a helpful tool for DIY
We are planning a total gut and renovation of two bathrooms in an old home with lots of quirky spaces. My friend who is an interior designer recommended this app and it’s so awesome. I had been taking measurements and trying to sketch out plans on a legal pad and it was not working out. This app made planning out the redesign so much easier! Everything is perfectly measured and tracked. I could spend hours playing around with it and it brings life to my vision.

I’m so happy I found this app. I didn’t become an architect to crawl around and take measurements. Now Canvas does all the dirty work for me. It took me a while to get the hang of exactly how to scan and where to stand, but once I figured it out getting a model is so easy. Taking the scan of the whole house takes about 20 minutes, then I got the model back in less than a day. Really happy I found this app!

Can’t sign up without consent for marketing
Title says it all- I’m not going to consent to marketing contact, so I can’t create an account. If your product is so tightly integrated with marketing that you don’t want someone to use it absent that consent, it is clearly not what I am looking for.
Edit: the app’s sign up process conditions creating the account on giving consent to marketing. Maybe I’m used to b2b software in a more global context, as that’s where I have experience. The standard there tends to be GDPR because it’s the most restrictive, and withholding service on a consent contingency is illegal (see article 7, conditions for consent).
