Learn World War II history with a classic hex-and-counter digital wargame covering the naval-air battles of the Pacific War, in the South Pacific and Central Pacific in 1942-1943.

CARRIER BATTLES 4 GUADALCANAL is a classic hex-and-counter wargame covering the naval-air battles during the Pacific War in 1942-1943

Review by Pocket Tactics
" Overall Carrier Battles 4 Guadalcanal is a solid WW2 naval wargame built around a great interface. It’s a realistic simulation that is accessible and fun, retaining depth while not letting the player get bogged down in menus or decisions. Fundamentally Carrier Battles succeeds because it takes the juicy technical attributes of naval games and mates it with a cracking user interface "

Robert5180,
Reviews criticizing IAP
Excellent game, well worth the money, and I will buy any in app purchase as they are released. I love games that continue to grow and add fresh experiences through new scenarios! Developer is engaged with user base and any defects are quickly resolved.

I take exception to players that criticize the in-app-purchases. These are scenarios for players who want them. You don’t have to buy them if you don’t want to and it does not affect game play for what you did buy. I think it is ridiculous for players to do a 1 star review and then comment “the game is great but I think I should get all this add-in content for free.” Really? In most cases these additional scenarios were not available when the original app was released. I commend the developer for continuing to add fresh content and I have no problem continuing to support his development by paying a little extra for new IAP’s.
Jimery,
Great adaptation of hex based war game
I’ve always thought that hex based war games would translate very well to computers and iPads as it can automate much of the tedious calculating. There are relatively few, well done games like this on iOS. Carrier Battles 4 Guadalcanal is definitely one of them. It does a great job of capturing the depth and detail of hex based war games while making the rules easier to follow and the calculations easier to make. In addition, it seems to be well programmed.

It does not have a great deal of sound and flash but this allows the processor to work quickly. Not a great deal of waiting time here. If you are looking for a twitch game, this may not be the one for you. If you enjoy the depth and complexity of hex based war games, this is a great version that will not disappoint.
DasBoot2099,
If you like strategy, get this game
This game is one of the best strategy games on iPad. It is highly realistic and the developer listens to feedback. If you tell them an issue, they will fix it or help you figure out what to do. the gameplay is exciting and rewards you for using clever strategies. Furthermore, the missions never get old as many variable play into the battle. Most importantly, the game play never feels slow and something is always happening. GET THIS GAME! I only see one gripe, there are in app purchases in a paid game. But, that shouldn’t matter, because this game is one of the best on iPad. Also, the IAPs were content released after release and the (very small) development team should be able to make an extra buck
joelusaf,
Phenomenal war game
Like others have mentioned, this reminds me of the old AH Flattop game I used to play in the 80s. I’ve played this game constantly for the last four months being either the US or IJN. What’s great is that you can play the same scenario multiple times and end with vastly different results every time. The AI is really quite good. Sometimes I beat the AI, sometimes I lose, something it’s a draw. I just love trying to figure out different tactics for each scenario. Great game. Highly recommend it. More developers should adapt hex and counter type war games to mobile devices.
BullSeye56,
Finally, A Great Wargame on Mobile
If you liked Flattop Midway, you’ll love this. Way better visuals than FT. Easy to play, hard to master. It’s easy to move ships and planes around, but to be successful you need to dig deeper, and this game has lots of depth, which is where your ships will be if you don’t study the different unit capabilities. Like Battle Academy, it punishes the ignorant and impatient, and rewards the informed and thoughtful. Kudos to the developer. Looking forward to future enhancements and other games that may follow.
Ampoman,
Awesome Game
Awesome game that stays about as true to history as a mobile game can! I played on my iPad and the game is very in depth, yet very accessible and easy to play. The AI is very good and unforgiving making solo play a rewarding challenge. I love the time the developer has taken to make the scenarios historically representative. On the coral sea scenario, the outcome of my match was EXACTLY the same as what historically occurred. Seaplanes and submarines are worthwhile add ons to the game.
Looking forward to future content
Beer Man 66,
Great game
This is just like the game Flat Top, I use to play when I was younger. I am waiting for the 2v2 player version. Keep up the awesome job with this game.

Dec 7, 2018
There seems to be some confusion, the website said we had until 5:30pm, Dec 7 to make our purchase. Guess it was wrong 😂... Anyways, I am sure the updates will be fun, but I will look for another game to replace this one, hopefully their information more accurate, then I will delete this game. Have fun all, I did....
mpm227,
Unbelievable great game
This game continues to astound me. I have been playing this game since it came out. Periodically it is updated with new battles and features. The current update and changes means i have to replan all of my carrier and surface formations. While on most games this is a pain in this particular game it brings a fresh feel to game play and brings about refreshed challenges. The only reason I give 5 stars is 6 or more is not a option.
TheTankGeneral,
My favorite game to play
Carrier battles 4: Guadalcanal is definitely one of the best games that I have played during ever since I got into history. The Ships involved and their positions during the beginning is on point and the aircraft used are accurate. The scenarios are really fun to mess around with (albeit at a price of 2.99) and is a game that gives you details on how to play. I definitely would recommend this to anyone interested in early WWII pacific war history.
Gfhgjdjejdh,
Continues to deliver
CB4G continues to improve its player experience from its already impressive standing. This is certainly a game any 20th century naval warfare enthusiast will enjoy, and new updates further refine the playing experience above and beyond anything else on the market. Without a doubt the best game on the App Store, and even compares favorably with nearly all naval wargames on any platform. As a longtime fan of the game, I’m glad it continues to get support and updates to keep it alive.
