Description

Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead is a turn-based survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world. Struggle to survive in a harsh, persistent, procedurally generated world. Scavenge the remnants of a dead civilization for food, equipment, or, if you are lucky, a vehicle with a full tank of gas to get you the hell out of Dodge. Fight to defeat or escape from a wide variety of powerful monstrosities, from zombies to giant insects to killer robots and things far stranger and deadlier, and against the others like yourself, that want what you have…

Greg Langmead,
Got me to start learning the game
This is a good-faith effort to port a keyboard-focused game to iOS with or without a keyboard. It inspired me to learn the game, knowing there is a supported app. There are few deep roguelikes on the platform so it’s very welcome.

One issue on iPhone is that vertical scrollbars (e.g. when examining an object with ‘e’ or in ‘V’ mode) are apparently scrolled on PC with page up and page down. Could there be buttons for those? It may be tough to get right because in ‘e’ mode the text is under the d-pad and so the user may want to hide the overlay — but then how will we tap new page up/down buttons that live in the overlay??
awful house,
It breaks after a while
When you play the game for a while on PC, you want to get it on mobile, right? That was my thought. This developer ported the game and made it cost money for the same product. Okay then. I paid the money and got what I paid for! The game is mostly untouched and decently optimized for mobile (not as much as the official version though.) and surprisingly even moddable through the files despite Apple’s restrictions. Then things went downhill. One day I opened the app and it had started on some odd menu, and then things went south. J started the game and lo’ and behold, my menu was frozen! I couldn’t access my save files through the game so I had to pick through the files to get my saves backed up. When I re-opened the app, brushing it off as a small bug (not a fresh install), it didn’t display anything at all! I honestly believe that this is just a poorly emulated version (NOT EVEN A PROPER PORT) of a game that already HAS a mobile port to go off of…
An actual Freerunner,
Great Port
Lots of accessibility features and a decent amount of mods and tilesets. It runs without fine even with lots of entities in the world, and even has additional content built over the core CDDA.

For some reason the game sound doesn't work though, the soundpacks help a lot when it comes to immersion and it's not there. Also for the devs, when you update the version can you please try to keep it on the same app or find a way to completely transfer settings and keybindings? It's a drag to redo all of that because the game is unplayable without adjusting those.

Don't get me twisted though, great work!

(Also if you're reading this and have never played this game, prepare for a stupidly deep roguelike. Where even how you put your clothes on matters)
DisappointedFan30,
Good Port with some issues.
Game runs great on my iPhone 11. Only got one issue, when I change the resolution, if I swipe up the keyboard, the resolution will reset, in the setting menu my changes will still appear but are not applied until I make a change and that lasts until I swipe up the keyboard again.

Update: Following devs instructions, now I have no issues with the game. Excellent port!
Dantm what,
Awesome game
Definitely a great port, though I wish there was a way to resize the buttons (for walking) because I switched phones, and now the walk button is way too close to the corner so I miss click and die a lot from that. I was quite good at the game, but the button sizes actually are a major roadblock (unless I want to be very careful about my movement and take ages to play).
King Brule,
Amazing port!
Been playing this game for years. PC broke so I’ve been impatiently waiting for this newest version to come out on IOS. If you’ve played this on PC you’ll have no problem picking up the controls and it’s the greatest feeling knowing I can play CDDA whenever I want on the go. Thanks again to the developer for your hard work.
player\_(<<)_/,
No volume 3
I actually have checked and it says 100 on everything as well as saying the sound pack is true

Question though does having too many world mods bug out the game? And if so it’s probably why i get no audio
The Coin theif,
Nearly perfect port, is 0.G coming any time soon?
Absolutely love this. It got me into the game and i’ve been playing it so much since my computer doesnt work rn, this is perfect for me. You said that 0.G was coming this April, but it’s now May and i’m super excited for it. Thanks!
Zepher23,
Stellar Port
Works in all ways as intended! A great port, there isn’t much to say, it has everything you need.
Edit: I was having issues with a keyboard but that was a my end issue, no complaints at all!
gentlescoop,
Good once running but rarely starts easily
Once running it is great, but it rarely loads properly: just open to a black screen with the overlay in place. It’s a shame because it is a great once it starts and the overlay is fantastic, but it also works well with the magic keyboard. I need to uninstall and reinstall every time.
