Description

tChess Pro is the high-quality, critically acclaimed chess game with the richest features for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. It's perfect for every player:

Beginners:
Not everybody is a chess master! Most chess games are too strong or just make random mistakes at easier levels. tChess Pro has unique algorithms to simulate human opponents.

Experts:
tChess Pro has a top-tier chess engine. (Over 380 ELO points stronger than Caissa Chess.)

Enthusiasts:
tChess Pro's Analysis Mode is like having a chess master in your pocket. You can get the engine's "expert opinion" about any game or position in real-time: which side is winning, and the best sequence of moves. Just like a professional desktop chess package.

More key features:
- Perfect for 1- or 2-player games
- Strong computer opponent
- Play against any ELO rating from 500 to 2500
- Integrated "Learn Chess" e-book app (Apple Staff Favorite!)
- Opening Library feature lets you explore chess opening theory as you play
- PGN Database feature lets you download and view PGN files
- Support for 3-stage time controls with Fischer increments
- Position Editor to enter positions from books, newspapers, etc.
- Save and load games; export them in standard PGN format
- Use the Profile feature to play rated games against the computer and track your progress

tChess Pro is developed by Tom Kerrigan, author of the TSCP and Stobor chess engines.

The Year of the Dog,
Solid Chess Game
I wrote a review for this app a few years ago. The update is great.
Why so few people have written reviews I find amazing....this chess app keeps getting updated and supported!!!
It can handle pgns!
This is a good app with a decent number of online users. I have come across many avid chess players.
In addition to my previous review the new update is solid. Only draw back maybe to much animation with the bouncing ball balloon thingy when you make a move. Overall a good solid chess app with Multiplayer support is solid. This chess app is still updated & solidly supported!!!!! Many are not. Call me a fan boy but this is a solid app & you can save and transfer games big plus to analyze later.
ToolGuy,
Great app, excellent features.
I’ve been using this app for quite a while. Can’t even remember when I initially bought it. Even though I frequently try out some of the newer/different apps, I keep coming back to this one as my main chess app.

I really like the clean, uncluttered look. Just an excellent rendered chess board (with many different style choices if desired) and an easy to use set of powerful features.

Also, superb customer support. I recently noticed a small bug and notified the developer via email. He had it fixed and an update on the app store the next day — which, considering the App store’s normal turnaround time is a superhuman effort.
Toklineman,
Geezer relearns chess
In the Army in Alaska in the late 50s, I learned and played a ton of chess and got pretty good at it. Since then, however, life interfered with pleasure, and I have played little to none since. Retired now, I’d like to return to the game but am astonished at how much I have forgotten about it. After trying several apps, I have settled on this one as the pick of the litter. One can turn the clock on and off and adjust the computer’s skill level (I took it down to the bottom and am working my way back up). The one small difficulty I had was resolved overnight by Mr. Kerrigan, and I am greatly enjoying the game again.
Whiteknight7s,
Good scaling
Most chess programs have major issues with how the difficulty scales. You can select beginner and it’ll sac it’s queen turn 2 and you figure “ok that’s a bit too beginner” and so you select medium and it plays like Karlson’s better grandpa. Then you play a few games and it varies wildly in ability at the same setting.
This game was once that way years ago but seems to have leveled off and become very good in that regard. Enjoyable and well worth the download.
hiwassupgood,
Amazing for people who play competitive chess.
First off, this game is amazing if you play chess competitively and take notation. You can analyze your games and find what the best moves were in each situation. One of my few complaints is that it just says which move is best and by how much, but not why.

Amazing chess app for people who have a rating and are looking to improve. If u just play chess for fun, than I wouldn’t really bother getting this app.
Relzzun,
Good and makes learning fun
While this is not nearly the strongest player out there, it is much better than the average club player. But IMHO, the best part is the UI and the ability to use it to learn. Rather than force you to “play” chess, it lets you switch sides and see what the machine is thinking more easily than most, making it easier to learn/study. Could use more database features though, such as showing opening move frequencies and cataloging the players own games.
Emile Nitrate,
Great chess set and review
I haven’t played in years and of course, that Netflix show sucked me back in. I ordered a real set to teach my wife but I wanted an app for myself to play on my iPad. This seems to be a solid app with some good options and no subscription or in app purchases. I’ve quickly beat the computer a number of times in the dunce setting and really like the 3D model. Well worth the bucks so far.
Lion(s) & two cubs,
Fun playing chess
If you’ve ever played chess against your processor (CPU) you know how hard it is to gain the edge against your opponent. But this well thought out chess app (one of the best that I’ve ever seen ) makes it all challenging, fun and easy. It is seamless. And you can save games for future reference. Keep up the good work t chess Pro in your updates. As I said, one of the best games! Period!
AussieBumming,
Who’s got game? I do!
This app has been my friend for years playing games on the subway. I just started studying and this has been a powerful tool to practice. You can even set up a problem and play it out. I like to record my in person games on it to play back like a movie at the end of the game and to see what could have happened if other moves were made
MitzoEl,
Fantastic!
I think more people would write 5 star reviews but they are having too much fun playing to stop. I really had to force a pause to write this. This app is flawless as far as single player goes. I only played once online and I didn’t have any issues. This has really improved my game. Have been using this app for at least 7 years.
