Good concept but App full of bugs

Nice looking board, and feeling. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to finish even one game because the app crashes every time. It needs work for sure, but it’s a good start.

Needs A Major Revision Soon

I’ve had a few games crash on me. Stockfish Level 1 in Chessnut plays at a much higher difficulty than Level 2 Stockfish in Lichess. So, the AI in Chessnut is very different and plays much more difficult for new, young, beginner players. The app/software does not have many customizable features. It’s a start, but now that boards (hardware) are rolling out, the team really needs to focus on making the software/app much more robust and feature packed. Meanwhile, my board will likely remain stored in the carry bag until a major revision comes out. The board looks like a great product but the app/software is the weakest link. There is a lot of potential here, but not on the same polished play level as a DGT or Millennium product. Please make this a priority so that Chessnut can live to its best potential. Thank you.

Works really well

The tracking on the board and the app is surprisingly good. You cannot slide pieces as I’ve found the first valid square will register. As an example, if you slide 1. e4 it will register as 1. e3 if you don’t pick up the piece.

Played two chess dot com rapid games with great success. So far this board & app were worth the wait!

Phenomenal

A really impressive e-board! Does exactly what I hoped it would and looks and feels as I’d hoped it would. You can use the board exactly as you would any standard board. No pressing required. And the piece detection is instant and so far flawless. Strongly recommend.

Landscape

Everything works great but we really need landscape mode especially for the iPad.

Also need an upgrade path for those Air owners who want to upgrade to a Pro.

Works very well with both lichess and chess(.com) for online play and offline play.

good start, needs landscape mode

App is a good start, but needs lots of work. Most notably, that at home, most people are likely to play using a tablet rather than a phone, as such, the iPad version needs landscape mode.

Needs improvement

This app works on a phone, but it needs a landscape mode to support tablets. The AI also needs to increase difficulty more gradually.

Can’t play offline on level 4 or higher, stops moving after two moves.
