kcbdab,
Getting into the app is a problem
This is one of the most frustrating apps I’ve ever used.

Half the time I try to use this app, it won’t load. There’s no rhyme or reason to when this app works and when it doesn’t.

It’s also frustrating that I can’t save my user Id and password - which means inevitably I have to reset my password making it even less likely that I’ll be able to remember my password. Please just let me use facial recognition to access my account like every other app.

Finally, our account is set up under my partner’s information but I’m the one who manages our healthcare billing. When signing in, the email with the pin gets sent to my partner’s email and it’s just a pain. Please let us have multiple owners of the account.

Once I’ve been able to load the app, sign in, get the pin from my partner and actually access our account, it’s fine. Definitely not amazing (e.g., there should be a huge obvious button on the home page that says “submit claim”), but it’s fine.
LavenderHoney,
Even if it accepts a file to be uploaded be warned!
Just because it allows you to submit a file type it does not mean the reviewers can read it properly and they will not tell you this they will only make a series of formal requests for random single pieces of information over and over, and each time it will be something new. You may or may not have success in the end and it may take you a year. Don’t forget even if they haven’t made a decision on a case or claim you still only have 365 days to open an appeal from the date of service.

The worst seems to be with screenshots.

Do yourself a favor and only submit single receipts at a time, do not group anything and do it all on a laptop or through a browser. I only use this app to check on the status of a claim after being burned too many times.

Also they will ignore your secure messages if they feel like it to try and run out the clock and they will tell you just 2 working days or 5 working days for a response over and over again if they feel like it. However secure messages and faxing are the only good ways to be sure supporting documentation gets to them. The method they say to use at the bottom of the screen on their site does not work either.

Overall their compatibility with Apple products is very poor.

Recommend improvements
Using the telehealth feature was confusing. This function gave instructions for how to set up an appointment. After that, though, there were no further instructions until the day of the call about who would call who/where I had to go for the call, etc. Additionally, in order to get those instructions on the day of the appointment, I had to guess where to go within the app; the instructions were not easily available. I recommend Cigna enhances the user friendliness of this feature. Despite this, the telehealth call was useful, and the audio and video were fairly clear. I appreciated that the doctor was able to leave notes for me from our conversation.

Horrible UI/UX Design and Incredibly Slow
I was quite excited to try out this app, but my experience quickly turned into a rollercoaster of frustration and confusion. The UI and UX feel straight out of the early 2000s, leaving me scrambling to grasp even the simplest functions. And the speed of the app is like dial-up.

Navigating the app feels like stumbling through a maze shrouded in darkness, with menus and buttons thrown around in the most nonsensical manner. It's the digital equivalent of a discontent toddler's attempt at home decoration. The functionality, unfortunately, pales in comparison to its cluttered design, making it borderline unusable.

Cigna has truly made a terrible product and you cannot even easily access the information when received. Please get the developers to make this a more modern experience.
Mikeradu,
Painfully slow, doesn’t keep track of medical invoices
The app is painfully slow, uses 1/5 of the screen to talk about cookies which should be a setting in the app - not something I see each time, doesn’t have an option to keep me logged in, bugs me with OTP even though I have Face ID on… asks me to submit pictures of my medical invoices but stores none - there’s no option to see what you’ve submitted and check that what is shown when the claim is correct. Really subpar, third class insurance company functionality.

FRUSTRATING AND CLUNKY: NEEDS A LOT OF WORK
In-app photo function for document upload doesnt work with iPhone XR. Have to select photo from files. Make sure you already took those photos because if you swich to camera (or any other app) to take a photo to upload from files, the Cigna app logs you out almost immediately, dumps all the entered data in your claim, but then saves the now empty claim as "unfinished".
Cant seem to upload more than one document. A second document (and I tried various different formats sizes and documents) is unable to be uploaded.
There doesn't seem to be any way to enter ckaim amount- I guess they get that from document upload- but my bill was in HKG dollars, and I selectedI wanted reimbursement in US dollars. I wonder how that will work.

App Doesn’t Work
I have been a user of the Cigna Envoy App for years. Always worked fine. Would never get an award for brilliance, but it functioned. Whatever updates they recently did have destroyed all functionality completely. I have not been able to get passed the login stage without the app completely hanging up and freezing. I have deleted and re-downloaded it multiple (aka at least 5) times, on both iPad and IPhone. I have rebooted the devices each time. Nothing. I am left with zero options. The fact that this doesn’t work on any of my mobile devices is indicative of the poor software development and lack of any testing before releasing such an idiotic solution. I had a high opinion of Cigna before this.

Needs Overhaul
I'm an American expat that is limited to this app due to my plan via my company. Our company recently moved from another insurance provider that had a PHENOMENAL app on the iPhone. This app feels very "1990s". Old and outdated.

I look at the features of the myCigna app and dream that the developers move to incorporate many of those features in this app. Especially considering they already exist in Cigna apps. Biometrics and ability to add the cards to the Apple wallet sound lovely.

If any of the developers are reading this, please help! The app is meant for convenience and items that are available in the main app would be extremely helpful...starting with not having to type in my password every time (Face or Touch ID is available for us!!).
tmunson24,
Clunky app, error message after error message!
The concept of the app itself is great. Claims are easy to submit (in theory). With that said, what should be a simple process is made very difficult by the repeated error message. Each step I try to perform typically yields a message that says “We cannot process your request at this time.” If I repeatedly try the same action, it will eventually push through.

Bottom line: this app needs a serious overhaul. I cannot believe after a year of seeing these issues it has not been fixed. It is ruining Cigna’s entire image!
H Lee 1311,
Not terrible but feels kludgy
After reading reviews, I still installed the app. I was careful to take photos of documents beforehand. Filling out a claim was identical to using the web version. It saved me the step of uploading photos to my computer first, so that was an improvement.

I agree with the reviewer that said the app feels like old technology: no biometric login, had to name the files I uploaded, etc. I also agree that Cigna could do better.

Nevertheless, I successfully submitted a claim. I guess that’s at least worth 3 stars.
