Allston-Tollcross,
Best in class citation manager
This is simply the best citation manager out there, and the most appropriate tool for most academic and student writing, especially in the humanities.

I’ve been using the web and Mac-based versions for years now and was pleasantly surprised to discover it has an iPhone app and that it’s so well and elegantly designed.

This is the tool that gets the various referencing formats, but also allows for the art of referencing.

The main reason I only have it at four stars for the iOS app is that it appears the export functions could be more communicative— it not always clear where the expected data will end up. (Clipboard, Word app, etc. ). Also, it seems that the copy function does not preserve formatting, namely italics / underlining, which actually would be a pretty substantial time-saver if it did.
Philosophaster,
Great app that makes papers easier
The app is really helpful for managing references and writing papers. It would be nice if it was more stable and could copy and paste without formatting issues into word.
SanguineList9,
Another subscription? No thank you.
I would happily pay a few bucks for this app. 5 bucks up front would be more than worth it, because it creates a page that I can easily just copy and past, as opposed to most citation apps, where you cite one at a time. I’m not willing to pay a very steep 4 bucks a month for the rest of my time in college for this convenience.

Honestly, I genuinely miss when you could just pay for software rather than subscribe to it. Ridiculous.

Pretty straight forward and gets the job done
I love this app, I’ve been with them since I was in college. I stayed loyal after the developer sent me an email personally and helped me with my issues then. I haven’t changed since, and every time I need a citation I always comeback to here, and now it’s on an app! Thanks again!

I love this app cuz like I said in the title it’s p straight forward and gets the job done for me, and when I’m done citing, I just copy paste everything into my word document! I can’t really complain about this, and it’s free! 😄

I do wish in the future there were an extension for word so I could access all of my stuff from my account right inside of word! *fingers crossed*
BGreenberg1,
Same problems
A lot of the information that you get from the ISBN number is incomplete. For example, if the title has a colon (:) I’ve had to enter the rest of the title manually every time. If there is more than one author, I have to enter the other authors manually each time. Often, when there is an editor for a book, I have to take them out of the author field and put them into the editor field. Finally, there of been a number of occasions where does failed to include the publisher.

I have now entered about 350 books over the last 2 years, and these problems have been consistent the entire time – – even with the most recent updates.

Finally, I’ve never been able to get your system to recognize the ISBN numbers of magazines or journals.

This is the second review that I have written, my first being about 2 years ago, and the issues I have mentioned here I mentioned back then. I have even been in contact with the developer several times, and these issues remain.
MarielyVP,
Organized and user friendly
I’ve been using the app (on my phone and my iPad) since I started grad school, and it has helped me a lot. Very user friendly! What I like the most about Citationsy is that you can separate the references in different folders, depending on the project or paper you are working on. Also, with the free version, you can copy/paste all the citations to your document.
Snappzzz702,
Not great
It’s difficult to use.
