Gergelliom,
Useful to keep up to date with current research
Useful app to follow all the new articles published in scientific journals and really nice feature to look for key words, which at the end seems better than a google scholar notification, and to be honest just more natural than reading a “newsletter” type stuff from gscholar.
However, even if the main features are here, I think some useful things would be interested to implement, like putting in greyish the articles already seen (which makes it able to see where we left last time we update the research) and the possibility to have push notifications for the keywords selected. The “my article” are linked with Mendeley, which in my opinion is a limitation as many people don’t use it (part of it because it is owned by Elseveir) so it could be great to link it with a zotero account (although I am not familiar if there is any API limitation for that...).
Also I noticed that some journals are missing (such as Optica) which makes me still stick with arXiv newsletter + google scholar email notifications on keywords.
little Samanera,
Good tool to keep up with the literature
It has all the necessary functions (filters, journal feeds etc) that help me see the recent publications in my area.

One problem I found is that the journal feed does not allow me to filter out “just accepted” papers from ASAP (as soon as publishable) articles. As least I did not find such a function.

The difference is that for most journals I follow, “just accepted” articles are pre-galley proof and they do not have TOC graphics, which makes them much harder to navigate through than ASAP (as soon as publishable) or already published articles. For some journals (for example, Agnewandte Chemie), the feed page is overwhelmed by “just accepted” papers without any graphics, and I find it really hard to read through all the tittles and abstracts without any graphics.
Post This,
Love the app, despise the interface.
What I love:

The fact that I can keep up with a bunch of journals all in one place.

What I hate:

The interface is awful. It is slow. It freezes. The fact that to delete an entry I have to swipe AND then hit the X button, which is often when it freezes. I had switched to the desktop app because I could just hit an X and get rid of the things I didn’t care about but they’ve removed that feature from the desktop app. I tried the updated iPhone version again today and it’s as bad as it has always been.

What would make the app great:

Bulk delete, something that you can select edit and then mark everything you don’t care about for deletion. Smoother interface that doesn’t freeze. The ability to delete from the abstract screen would also be helpful.

Bottom Line:

If you like a quasi useful app that will occasionally frustrate you until you want to scream. This app is for you. When it works it’s great but it doesn’t work all that often or for very long.

Update:

I’ve discovered a wonderful new bug. Now the app recycles the same abstracts over and over again. While scrolling through my feed looking at article I noticed they were all looking similar. Many of the same abstracts scrolled past several times despite my swiping left on them earlier. I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled multiple times but no change.
Michaelzs520,
Should allow folders feature to organize the followed journals
I followed a lot of journals, sometimes I want to see a particular journal I follow, it’s hard to find, I have to search it or scroll down for a long time to find it in the followed list. It will be great to allow the user to add folders or subjects to organize the many followed journals. Just like notability app, you have “all notes” page, you can also have “subjects” to organize different content.
JordanEich,
So convenient!!
Research at your fingertips!! Instead of sifting through search engines trying to find articles most inline with my profession, this app allows me to pick and organize my preferences to narrow my research!! I’m a dietitian so staying up to date with research is so important. With this app, i can do it quickly and easily without having to take the time to scroll through google or Pubmed to find articles. Cuts my research time in half. In addition, i really appreciate the option to only view full text articles. Lastly, a Researcher team member emailed me to offer help with functions or questions i had. I feel comfortable navigating the app and will continue to use in my practice!
DrJJWMac,
Reasonable start that needs improvements
The goal is good—allow a user to search a choice of journals for keywords. The app works well to do what is stated.

Update March 2020: The app needs significant changes to be more than just a way to gather journal references. It currently cannot share the bookmark collections in any useable manner to outside databases, for example as RIS or BibTex reference sets. Not everyone wants to be tied to either Mendeley or Zotero. Its UI also does not allow the user to select multiple references for any type of action. So we can only clear bookmarks or move files one at a time. Try that over a few hundred citations that you want to handle efficiently.

The only reason I give this more than one star is that it has a search engine that crosses a broader set of journals than any other citation engine that I have seen.
Chrischigta,
Fantastic idea but app still veeeery buggy
Answer to developer: I am using an IPhone 6S with iOS 11.4.1. When I start the app, it shows my feed and the loading symbol with the three rotating:pulsing dots - they just never stop rotating. Hope you guys figure these issues out and I’ll be happy to come back as a user.

EDIT: it currently absolutely unusable, keeps crashing every time, so I uninstalled the app and changed to 1 star. It’s a bummer, was really excited when I found this app.

Love the concept of this app - as a scientist it could make for a really convenient tool to stay up to date on relevant literature. However, the app has a lot of problems. Several times now I had to reinstall it because it kept crashing even after I shut it down. That obviously stops me from actually using it- improve the user experience and this will be a 5 star no question.
Huapenpen,
Bookmark your progress?
Very handy app to keep track of newly published papers in your field! Can definitely fill my commute time and such with reading abstracts! Just one suggestion: I hope there’s a save progress function so that we know where we were last time before exiting. So that if I want to pick up where I left off, I don’t need to scroll down (because the app always refresh and returns to top once opened) all the time. And it became practically impossible when you need to get way far down there.
fijfvgdrcs,
Love the app
I have been using this app only for a few days an I am loving it. Till now, I used to receive email alerts of newly published issues in my journals of interest, but since using this app it has been much easier to keep track of recently published papers in these and many other journals I was less familiar with.

As a suggestion, I would love to be able to see a section in the app with the “calls for papers” in special issues of the journals included in the app.
MC Allenby,
Great app - some bugs
Started using 30 min ago and it’s a great idea but is in beta with early bugs.

I get a lot of my articles off Twitter as other similar services such as mendeley, google scholar feed, and feedly, have not been effective. Please link algorithms to follow PIs and labs (individual author suggestions) its what I’ve loved following academic twitter profiles.

Bug: the software doesn’t allow me to listen to music from other apps while browsing. This is annoying could you please fix
