Description

Choose This not That for Chronic Kidney Disease. Inside this colorful app, you will find easy to follow suggestions on how to improve your health through nutrition and the food choices you make every day. This app provides comprehensive and actionable nutrition guidelines for how to reduce your risk, prevent or stop the progress of CKD. If you rather tackle health issues and risks through proper nutrition and lifestyle changes then this app is for you! Last update: June 2017.

A number of features make this app so different and superior to others in the market:

• Is this food good for me? Answer to the common question about suitability of various food items for your personal situation, in an easy to understand and colorful graphic form.

• This publication is the only one in the market that offers dietary guidance for CKD AND its combination with the following most likely health issues: anemia (iron deficiency), diabetes (types 1 and 2), obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, stress and Vitamin D deficiency.

• Separate guidelines for patients who need to consume: less phosphorous, less potassium, or more potassium. Also included is a detoxification diet to reduce the burden on kidneys and improve the immune system.

• Top-5 items to do or eat, and the top-5 things to avoid.

• Recommendations on the best food choices within a food group, based on your personal profile. An extremely valuable tool when at restaurants or when grocery shopping.

• ACTIONABLE information on what is good, what is bad, and what is neutral for your condition(s). We single out specific food items, and give you an ordered list of helpful and harmful foods within each food group.

• Suggestions on appropriate life style choices, alternative therapies and herbal remedies, when such options are promising and available to you.

“This technology was developed using the most current clinical evidence-based information that is available in the US. Behind this technology there is a team of expert clinicians, scientists, endocrinologists, oncologists, and other specialists who are passionate about bridging the gap between expert knowledge and the patient.“
Katya Tsaioun, PhD, Nutrition, Tufts University; L.D.N.

“Proper nutrition and other alternative treatments show great promise in preventing and treating many of the illnesses that we deal with every day. I encourage all my patients to follow appropriate nutrition and research other options for themselves. The Choose This Not That series are an excellent step towards improving people’s knowledge in this area.”
Shahin Tabatabaei, MD
Mass General Hospital (Urology); Harvard Medical School

“The Choose This Not That series of apps provide dietary recommendations focused on common chronic health problems. They are easy to understand and thus easy to implement into daily life. Most doctors would find it difficult to discuss dietary recommendations at the level of detail found in the series. They should serve as a valuable complement in helping people manage chronic illnesses through dietary and lifestyle modifications.”

Marrwood,
Inaccurate Info
Having kidney disease and high potassium I have been looking for an app that would be a quick reference to let me see foods that are high in potassium. I found this I was excited and purchased it. My first meal I started looking around at different items and how much potassium they had. I decided to check on a few items that I knew were extremely high in potassium as a benchmark. Things like potatoes, oranges and bananas. All these items were reported on this app as below normal potassium leading me to believe that this app is very inaccurate if the top potassium foods are reported as below normal. Because this is a matter of life and death for me I don’t recommend this app at all.
Chuckits,
Not Worth The Money
This app, in my opinion, does nothing more than give you lists of foods that you should or should not eat for a person with (CKD). It does not give you the necessary nutritional facts that allow you to keep track of your potassium, phosphorus, sodium, etc, which the app claimed you could do on it's homepage. Very misleading!!! Why pay for a list of foods that can be easily obtained, for free, on the internet. I wish there was a way to get my money back!!
Idon'thavea nickname,
Love it!
I think it's fantastic to have help choosing foods when you have more than one medical condition! This is easy to use! I'm looking forward to using it a lot. I had a problem and support was responsive and helpful. I definitely recommend this app!
Heather 25,
Fix it and I will rate higher and change my review!
I read several other reviews and they’re all the same. This app gives wrong information. I put my profile on CKD with low potassium and it STILL told me things like bananas were okay. THEY’RE NOT OKAY! AT ALL!
I. WANT. MY. MONEY. BACK.
agreemor,
Eat This Not That
Not even worth the energy to download much less the price. I deleted this app the first hour after I purchased it. The information is limited and can be found on the CKD resources on line at no cost!
Figling,
Ripoff
I just paid for this app, tapped the icon on my phone to open, got a screen saying I need to sign up with user name and password, and it is totally frozen and won’t let me! So apparently I paid for a useless icon.
Gcmcintosh,
Avoid this app
Great idea but you’ll have no luck setting up a log in or support, fast charging your Apple account. Only gave it one star so I could rate this app. Otherwise would give no star rating.
cronic stage 4 kidney desease,
Did not download all the way
Was charged for app but only downloaded partway. So could not sign in. Would not recommend took money and no program. Would give zero if I could
A friend999,
Waste of $
All this does is tell you "eat less" of pretty much everything. No details on amount of protein, salt or micronutrients. No way to track diet. Plenty of free ways to find this information.
Fishchick72,
Don’t do it
Total waste of money. I can’t even get signed up for an account. The app doesn't work at all.

Someone please tell me how to get my money back.
