Description

The CleverPet app integrates with the CleverPet Hub, and allows you to connect your Hub to WiFi, monitor your dog’s progress on the Hub, track the amount of food your dog has eaten, the challenge your dog has unlocked, and more. You can also schedule the Hub to start and stop at the times that work for you.

Version history

1.1.2
2017-12-19
This app has been updated by Apple to display the Apple Watch app icon.

We fixed a bug which caused live charts to cover other tiles, and made a few adjustments to the WiFi setup flow to make troubleshooting easier.
1.1.0
2017-09-13
Live report updates and food scheduling! In the reports tab, there’s a new chart showing the previous week’s play and performance information. It updates in real time as your dog plays! New in settings: limit the maximum number of kibbles your dog can win each day.
1.0.9
2017-08-28
This version updates the process of connecting your hub to Wifi.
1.0.7
2017-08-18
Bug fixes, especially if a new user logs in.
1.0.6
2017-07-31
We updated the layout of images in tiles. Sometimes the pictures were so small, with white borders all around. Now they fill the full vertical height of a tile. Also, it’s now possible to make a new account with gmail authorization (Sign in with Google) or to use an email (even if its gmail), and provide a custom password for CleverPet.
1.0.5
2017-06-30
We’ve expanded our FAQ to a database of searchable questions. We have also improved instructions in the setup process, making it easier for your Hub to return to WiFi setup, say, after you get a new router.
1.0.4
2017-03-13
Automatic schedules can now be configured to indicate which timezone the CleverPet Hub is located in. Daylight Saving Time was last Saturday night for many of our customers. Especially if you use the scheduler, you may want to confirm that your Hub is set to the correct timezone now. The timezone settings are at the bottom of the scheduler screen. Also, we patched a bug, specifically during sign up.
1.0.3
2017-02-16
Hooray! Your CleverPet content is much more accessible now! We’ve added some fancy tabs for organizing videos, challenges, and reports. Your main feed will still show you the latest events, alerts, and messages about your dog’s progress. But what if you want to look up a challenge that happened a long time ago, or you removed a report from your main feed? The challenges tab shows you all the challenges your dog has unlocked, and the reports tab will keep a record of all your past reports so you can compare activity and performance to previous reports. Bonus: the challenges tab will also include the tools to set the Hub to an easier challenge, because nobody’s perfect and every pup could use a do-over once in awhile.
1.0.2
2016-12-14
We have increased the font size in messages. Thats right, reading is not just for young whipper-snappers with sharp eyes.

We no longer require you to give your hub a name in setup. While you all came up with cute names, we don't think its worth bothering everyone to do this. Also, this may reduce errors for those of you who spend more than three minutes coming up with a name. Why is it so hard to come up with a name? We don't know. We are sorry to put you through that. ;)
1.0.1
2016-11-30
You can chat with support directly from our app. This release updates our messaging system.

Charts will be broadly available by 2017. This update is one step in requiring the charts to work.

Bugs fixed. Selecting photos was causing errors for users in the lastest iOS 10 release.

Monk-o-rama!,
Great hardware with poorly designed app
The CleverPet has been a great way to keep our active, smart dog occupied while we’re away during the day. The hardware is great -- after a year, it has never jammed, and our dog has never broken into it or flipped it over (although she can push it around a bit on the floor).

The app, on the other hand, is kind of a mess. It has 3 purposes:
1. Teach you what to expect as your dog learns to use the device. It does a good job at this, with videos and text.
2. Allow you to see stats about your dog’s interactions with it. This functionality is pretty anemic, with the graphs not large enough to make out and not high-resolution enough (values are all daily) to do anything with.
3. A couple of key “reset” functions: tell the device you just put more food in it after it had run out, and move back to the previous stage if you want to decrease the difficulty for your dog. I kind of wish these had just been built into the hardware itself (especially the first one, because now I have to have my phone with me to feed my dog, and adding a sensor to tell when new food has been added seems relatively simple).

The app is structured around an activity feed that mixes all the concepts above into one stream of swipeable things, but now that I know how to use the device I kind of wish it was just two buttons and a graph, and the videos were hidden away somewhere else.
chinacat1,
My dog is super sad she can’t use her toy
Like, actually depressed. She loves the CleverPet and remembers very well how to use it even though it hasn’t been functioning correctly for over a year because of network connectivity issues. She starts desperately trying buttons if I so much as touch the unit. As of April, app support person Vlad said there would be an update within only a “couple of weeks” to fix compatibility issues with newer OS systems and network connectivity. It’s nearly July. Doesn’t look like anything has changed. Huge outlay of money for a toy that has just sat next to her crate for over a year without being used.
And sad dogs are the SADDEST. 🥺
I hope the developers can actually update the app to keep it usable for those of us who have dogs who adore this thing. My pup and I would send you a thank you card. Because when it works - CleverPet is awesome. Please, guys?
ExpresCust&Emp,
Not a lot of effort put into the support side
I’ve had my hub for a few years now and let me tell you when something goes wrong and you need to get in contact with someone they don’t always respond in a timely manner. For about a week or more I’ve been running it offline. I have reached out a few times to the help team and have heard no response. The crazy thing is there are times when all it takes is the flip of a switch!!!! I know this bc one of the girls said “oh we just needed to flip a switch on our end!!!” 🤦🏻‍♂️ I’ve began to hate this food dispenser so much bc of how much it disconnects! I go out and come home to find my dog hungry bc it’s not connected or something.
KMCekola,
Worst App Ever!!
This app doesn’t even do updates! I see where you are supposed to be able to “go back” if you want your dog to repeat the prior challenge, my app has no such feature!! I have also had many issues with the unit itself and my last question sent to them was over a week ago, still no response!! This is why when they asked if I would be interested in purchasing their new model coming out I replied NO!! Don’t waste your money!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My dog loves using clever pet and plays with it frequently throughout the day! I was sad when i could not get it to reconnect to a new Wi-Fi, however following the software update and thanks to step by step instructions by Brian ( who was very patient and kind despite my lack of technical skills), it up and running through the different levels. Brian took the time to show me how to troubleshoot should there be any issues in the future.
TheStrategery,
My Puppy misses clever pet
For over a year my CleverPet has been slightly more useful than a paperweight (Still works in offline mode).

He absolutely loved playing this and made it up to lvl 8 or 9, if I remember correctly, before the app stopped working. Problem was a combination of upgrading my home network and a new version of IOS. The app just doesn’t seem to be worked on any more.

As much as this costs I should be mad that we only had it a short while before it stopped working correctly. But really I’m just sad that this company that made an awesome product that is the only toy my pup likes to play with is struggling or going/gone out of business.

I hope you guys can find the time to update this app. But even more then that I hope you can pull through and continue to make awesome dog toys.
ny@jess,
I can tell the developers don’t care anymore
This hub and app was pretty great. Set it and forget it. Recently I changed my home Wi-Fi network and nothing has worked ever since. The app probably doesn’t work with updated iPhones and you can’t get anyone to assist. I have tried setting it up with two different iPhones 8 and X. Neither can connect to the photon network that the app tells you to connect to and then it does nothing. Disconnect and connect again to try. Over it. Don’t buy this as it will become a very expensive toy that the developers do not support in fixing wifi issues.
NeonNinja,
Developers won’t fix this app, want your money for their new product
The developers have stopped supporting this app, yet started a new company where they take your money (FluentPet). While my hardware still works fine, as many others have noted, there is no way to connect it to the wifi network due to iOS updates. So now my dog literally lies next it it whimpering while pressing the buttons. Shame on the developers. Fix your existing products before changing your name and grifting more money from your users.
Ggddhhyh,
Very poor support
Product was great when it worked. The app has always been a bit rough, but as of last April it no longer works with an iOS device that doesn’t have a home button. Support has said as of 6 months ago an update was due in two weeks. Last time I checked this summer they told me to buy additional parts to make it work (and that an update was still about 2 weeks away then too. Lol). Umm no. The support person, Vlad, is great — but the company is one to stay away from.
Jacklyn0428,
App needs updating
App has not been updated in well over a year. No support for iPhone X or later. Graphs are difficult to read. Have to restart our CleverPet almost daily due to various glitches. Pros: their support team is helpful and friendly albeit slow to respond.

I really want to see this company succeed because my dog loves it and it’s such a great idea but I’m not sure there’s anyone over there making any improvements to it now that the product and app are launched.
