“American Pool” checkers what most of us in the U.S. grew playing and our version didn’t require “Forced Captures” which means if you can jump 1 or 2, and so on, of your opponent’s pieces, you MUST do so….there are atleast 15-20+ variations of checkers with rule changes like this that I know of and probably more…so if you choose to play by these rules, thats fine, but there are MANY people around the world who do NOT recognize these rules, but it’s personal preference and the rules you follow doesn’t mean everyone has to follow them. For an example, in the U.S. we drive on the right side of the road….but in other countries they drive on the left side of the road so it’s your responsibility if you visit a country to make sure you drive on the correct side…NO 1 side is better than the other….by the way though….Forced captures do suck…I prefer to have FULL control of ALL of my pieces….just saying!
