48follower,
Really Fun Except for Two Big Glitches
Just joined for three years. Love the games but there are two games that dont work on Ipad. The first game shows words and you are to hit "OK" if the color of the letters matches the word color. Only, for Ipad/IOS, there is no OK button. I tried hitting tongs of things but get one wrong after the other. The second game is "fresh squeeze." In the tutorial, youre supposed to tap on a square and move pieces of pipe into the correct square. Only no matter how much or hard I tap, the square doesnt activate. Ive tried this on two Ipads and same on both. Game shouldnt have these types of glitches in IOS for the price. I have been back and forth with customer service 1000 times and still not fixed. The worst part is it is always part of my daily game so I either have to take a bad score or skip it and can never get to the next part. Should be an option to skip a game and go on to the next one.
Ma T Mobil,
One of the best
I started playing brain games about 20 years ago. CogniFit is in the top two I have tried. As I aged I noticed a decline in several cognitive areas. Most effected are speed processing, memory, visual processing. The brain is a remarkable organ. Just like muscles, if they aren’t used, they shrink and deteriorate. Like muscles, if you start exercising and using those muscles again they repair and become strong and useful again. My brain shows the same reparative ability. Speed processing is not going to bounce back to what it was 20 years ago, but it processes information at a much faster rate than most individuals my age. What surprises me most are my problem solving, multi tasking, and critical thinking skills. All of these areas have either improved or stayed the same. It’s remarkable that my critical problem skills fall in the range of 30 year olds. I also do the NYT crossword and of course I am hooked on the new word game WORDLE. One other exercise I do is active listening. If you are going to purchase a mind game, CogniFit is well worth the investment. Happy learning.

"Cognifit", which focuses on training the brain through different activities such as memory games, agility games, and others related. While not an actual treatment for anxiety and depression disorders, this app is good to be used in assistance with proper treatment. When dealing with depression and anxiety one of the symptoms is struggling with concentration. This app has activites directed spefically aimed towards this issue. Used hand in hand with Cognitive-behavioral therarpy which also focuses on training the mind could be very effective in seeing improvement in one's mental health. I believe this app is definitely a helpful resource
TerryCarley,
Okay
Tonight I took the word search test which was faulty. The picture shown was of a roll of tape but the hint was for the word egg. Then the picture would not change to the next word. Points were deducted.

Yesterday I took a test that I believe was to test distances and spacial relationships. I performed very poorly on the test. The shapes overlapped and of course were in two dimension on my screen so I could not see how they were placed on a flat surface until after each test when the screen “panned” over the shapes to show were they were located. I cannot see how I was to logically determine their location in space from a side view in two dimensions. That may be a failing I need to work on or a failing of the test but since I have no way of knowing which test it was I took, I cannot go back and repeat the test or get more information on how to reason out the solutions to the tests. That is a flaw in your system - there is no way for me to improve that skill and I have no name for the skill needed!
xXHAPPYKILLMOREXx,
So this is cognitive training…
All I took was your assessment–out of curiosity how exactly do you pull a generalized score from such specific tests? And who were your consultants in designing this assessment? No names of course I would love to know what the epistemology was here because what it seemed like to me (Cognitive Neuroscientist) is a game that got progressively tougher and ultimately gave myself and four other cognitive researchers another neuroscientist and two cognitive psych majors such awful scores we were seriously considering hanging it up you know? I mean all four of us flunked!😳😳😳just kidding. I’m only a neuroscience student, and only one of us here has a PhD but she signed off on our theory that perhaps the only real cognitive training is done in a clinical or therapeutic context, and that perhaps your customers would encounter greater potential for cognitive benefit by downloading something more video gamish like anything. This was a set of flash cards defined by swift and draped in pretty html. Nothing more. Scientific parenting I’m dead🤣🤣🤣

If you’re thinking about sticking with the free version, I will give you the run down.

You get one free cognitive assessment. The assessment was fun and you could email yourself the results. (The other assessments were around $50).

You get access to 4 different games:
- Mahjong
- A candy matching game
- Whack-A-Mole
- Word hunt

You get 3 daily training exercises that are picked from the free games and also the premium games.

I was very excited about my plan. I said “okay, 3 games every day, no big deal.”

The first time I played, it said “Come back in 24 hours.” I skipped the day after because the 24 hours were up around the time I went to bed, so I just figured I’d wait until the next morning and that be part of my morning routine.

Well, every day after that I would sit and play for an hour, but it never gave me a daily ✅. So I would think “okay, maybe it gives me a ✅ when I beat my high score. So I would spend SO much time trying to beat my high score and I couldn’t. And the day after, it would still give me an ❌ for the previous day.

I was LIVID.

Also, I’m not sure how they score the Majong, but it gets extremely difficult after level 3, and I tried looking up the rules, but CogniFit doesn’t have any rules anywhere on the app or online. Just the “benefits”.

So I deleted it.

Dear CogniFit,
If this is a bug, fix it. And put more directions out there!!
Bunnylover4,
Can’t progress in training w/o sound but no sound option
I have gone in almost comical circles with customer service providing examples and screenshots and all the information they ask, practically pleading with them to open a defect or help. I have no option to enable sound. And… It wouldn’t be a problem, but the daily training *requires* you to complete their selection of games to move forward and some require sound. So I’m stuck if I want to do daily training (or I have to randomly play just to finish the game). They basically say I don’t need sound for level 1 of one game and ignore the fact there’s no sound on the others. I foolishly bought a 3 year subscription which I’ll probably cancel. I do really like a few of the games, though. But the poor customer service is worse than the buggy app.
BKChanteuse,
Saved me from new mom brain!
After I had my baby, I swear I would forget my head if it wasn’t attached. I’m used to being an intelligent, articulate person, and after the baby I seriously felt like I had ephasia. But after no more than a week of playing these brain games, I started to feel more focused. My concentration improved, and I felt like I was picking things up faster. I would definitely recommend this app to anyone looking to “get their brain back”!
Iracethewind,
Doesn’t work well
I’ve used it five days on my iPhone. It doesn’t remember that I’ve logged in and I have to sign in every time. It doesn’t track my history correctly and shows that I didn’t train when I did. It offers only the same three games every day. I did the general cognitive assessment which was a cool experience. The controls are not great- the joystick function on the coordination game is glitchy and not intuitive. The letters are too small to select on the word game, which causes frustration and delays, and cannot possibly allow for accurate assessment. Day to day it’s not remotely competitive with other options. Too bad, I was excited about the science. Maybe it’s designed/optimized for PC and not mobile. I’ll be deleting this one and sticking with Peak and Lumosity.
mrmackerel,
Not remotely worth the cash
Working in the medical field, I have doubts regarding this apps’ verity of genuine usefulness. Furthermore, some of the games are poorly designed, e.g. painstakingly slow games with quirky and inefficiently responding tools. Unfortunately you cannot proceed past any of these, but must “play” them until the end to move on. If you have a problem with that, the developers blame you. Final straw is that a subscription starts at $20/month for just their most basic features. Any more and you have to upgrade. Want to take one of their assessments? That’s another $50. Fantastic if you only need money to keep your fire pit burning.
