I really enjoyed the Picross Luna games, so you can imagine my excitement when I saw an ad for Coloring Luna- I figured it would be a chiller version of Picross, the same story with less puzzling, maybe even a more in-depth story or a continuation. However, I was sorely mistaken, as Coloring Luna is considerably more boring with a complete lack of story, the ads don’t “stop” at any point (like Picross’s “ads disappear once you reach 90% completion of the game” gimmick, that I’ll be honest- I’m not sure was real, but at least it made me feel better about the ads I did see) and are considerably more annoying (watch ads to unlock levels).
Not to mention, even as a stand-alone coloring game, it’s not that great- the ending replay animation doesn’t follow the player at all, making up its own order to color the image in, and the lack of numbers for color sorting removes any strategy one might bring to a coloring game like this.
On a positive note, however, the music is fantastic, considerably less repetitive than other games, and the art designs and color choices are pretty and calming- so if that’s all you really want in a coloring game, then you’re definitely set.
