Description

“Each day, a person who eats a vegan diet saves 1,100 gallons of water, 45 pounds of grain, 30 square feet of forested land, 20 pounds of CO2 equivalent, and 1 animal's life.” — Cowspiracy

Climate change, ocean dead zones, fisheries depletion, deforestation, food safety, heart disease, obesity, and diabetes have all something in common: our demand for and consumption of animal products. By eliminating animal products (such as meat, dairy, and eggs) from our diet, we can reduce the amount of harm we inflict on the environment and on ourselves.

By simply entering your veganniversary (the day you became vegan) Cowculator calculates how much water, grain, forested land, CO2 equivalent, and animal lives you have saved by going vegan.

🐶❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤,
Incredible
I love the app so much. It gives statistics on the difference you have made in a way that is easy to use. It shows a lot of things such as the number of animals that have been spared, the gallons of water saved, square feet of rainforest, pounds of Co2 and grain saved. There is also a kill counter that shows how many of each type of animal that has been killed since you opened it. This one is depressing, but it is a good thing to show friends and family to open their eyes about the way that animals are treated. Overall, the app is incredible. It is so motivating and easy to use. Highly recommend.
Skylar.Oler,
Impactful and well-made
Sorry about the negative reviews from carnists who don’t have anything better to do, hopefully this can balance it out somewhat, but you deserve the 5-stars regardless.

The app is really really incredible, even for how simple it is. The presentation on the main screen is elegant, the numbers are accurate, and the concept is great. It’s really nice to be able to see the impact you’ve had, and I’m sure this app has helped in motivating a lot of people to stay vegan. The anniversary is a nice touch too, and the kill counter is depressing, but I’m glad it’s there.

Thanks for what you’ve made, and also for the fact that it’s free.
RileyMG,
Perfect
I don’t understand why a lot of the featured reviews are one star from omnis talking about why they hate veganism. that’s so awkward, i wish we could report reviews on the app store. anyways, i got this app when i first went vegan and i like that i don’t need to keep track of how long it’s been, i can periodically check in and see what i’ve saved. i also like that it tells you your veganniversary! i like simplicity and this app is perfect, no annoying bells and whistles or useless features, just does what it’s designed to do. 10/10, visually appealing and a good motivator
MusicalDragon350,
Love it
It feels good to be able to see how many resources and animals you’re saving. Even though I’m aware of how many animals die each year it still shocked me to see how fast that counter is shooting up for many of the animals. So sad, but something I think needs to be seen.

It’s a shame that so many people are bad mouthing this app. I mean, why even bother? If you have nothing nice to say then don’t say anything at all. It’s not worth it and completely unproductive. There’s some strong ignorance and cognitive dissonance going on.
magnolia_fan3000,
Convenient!
It’s great to have this info handy. I used to plug my numbers into the “vegan calculator” now and again but it’s powerful to see it every day. Thanks for putting it together! And also for making it free - that was mighty nice of ya. Vegan for the animals, for life ❤️

One recommendation to the developer: iOS 14 introduced widgets and a widget with this information would be great, that way you can see it right on your Home Screen. Thanks for your consideration.
#Rubyism,
Honestly just upset with the responses
I was vegan for a long time, and still mostly eat vegan, and keep a vegan food household... I'm still working on the other stuff in my household for having a totally vegan household.

Long story short, I was excited about this app, but when I started reading reviews it just made me mad the responses. There is ways to encourage people to the vegan lifestyle, and ways to discourage them. And I've been in customer service from age 7-22. You have to use customer service if you wanna sell anything. That they are not. They seem to care more about being right then creating a change.

You lose people when you talk down to them. That's the reason I deleted the app and won't use it and won't suggest it.
Lamecakes,
Motivating!
This is just what I was looking for to keep up my motivation. I’ve been slowly transitioning to a vegan lifestyle, and this is the first day I said yep - I’m going to track it and stick to it, and see if I can really cement this into my day to day life. These numbers really put all the other work I do in my life to help reduce my environmental impact into perspective! Thank you so much for your hard work.
BuffalonianJohn,
Figures don’t lie, but liars figure.
Response to devs response:
The numbers were so crazy that your silly app provides that I did google the topic. There is no shortage of information that disputes the bogus data your app provides. You obviously don’t care about confirming that the “Cowculator” provides accurate data. If you wish to look into it you will see this data doesn’t hold up to scrutiny.

If you believe these numbers... buy the app and pretend away.

Last response to developer... did you ever try and get funded for research that goes against the liberal line of thinking? I know people who have... they won’t give money. That’s the reason there is so much “climate change” related research. The government won’t fund research that goes against the agenda. Did you see the recent letter signed by 500 climatologists. No shortage of scientists who rip apart the false studies the government funds. Believe what you want. Makes no difference to me. I bet I enjoy my meals a lot more than the average vegan.
Chrono Link,
Here’s the Problem
There’s nothing wrong with the vegan lifestyle if that’s something that you choose for yourself. The problem with this app though is attempting to make the argument that by going vegan you’re saving the planet. According to all of “climate change experts” carbon dioxide gas and methane gas are the two main culprits of climate change. By going vegan more cows (and to other animals) will be left alive on this planet thus increasing carbon dioxide and methane emissions, not to mention the fact that more plants will wind up being consumed so less CO2 will be able to be converted into oxygen. Go vegan if you really want to, just don’t try to convince me that by doing so you’re saving the planet.
erieguy,
just propaganda
I’m not vegan and never will be, but I plugged in a date of Jan. 1, 2019, about 10 months ago as I write this. The app says if I had gone vegan on that date I would have saved the lives of 299 animals. That’s about one a day. Even if I ate meat every day I obviously wouldn’t be eating an entire animal each day, so that’s nonsense. This app is just an attempt to push a vegan lifestyle. The developers have a right to do that, but before you download be aware that’s their intent and don’t take it seriously.

Update:
Wow. I received a really snarky and nonsensical response from the developer. I’m glad I deleted the app.
