“David Bowie is” is an adaptation for iPhone of the blockbuster exhibition that originated in London’s Victoria and Albert Museum in 2013 and toured the world for five years to record-breaking attendance and international acclaim.
This augmented reality exhibition tells the story of Bowie’s life and career through costumes, videos, photography, drawings, storyboards, music scores, handwritten lyrics, letters, and diary entries. It displays over 400 items from the iconic exhibition in a sequence of 25 newly designed virtual exhibition rooms, with many never before seen items. No headsets required, all you need for the best experience is a pair of headphones.

SO worth it!
Just the coolest most engaging and amazing way to get close to Bowie’s life and art. Never imagined AR could look this good, or could deliver so much. Crystal clear! Super detailed! Can’t believe how carefully and brilliantly arranged it all is. And the lighting! You can turn things around and get so close to it all! I saw the show 3 times ($60!) and never once felt as close to the materials as I do with this app. It’s a total trip to explore. Totally chill. Haven’t see the half of it yet and I’ve already seen videos and drawings and lyrics and so many astonishing things I never saw in the museum show or dreamed I’d ever see up close like this. I feel like they’re mine. Sitting on my table. And the audio has so much presence, so much depth. Oldman is warm, intimate - can’t help wondering if he didn’t write this too. I’m putting this down for a few hours, maybe for a few days. Just to give it all a chance to sink in. I hope it never ends. Mind blown!

Surprisingly intimate and goosebumpy!
The fact that you can literally move your phone closer to Bowie’s handwritten documents and drawings is really something. Feels like I really have Bowie in my room, talking about his ideas while I examine the artifacts. I went to the Brooklyn show and always wish I could stay much longer there, without the crowds(who doesn’t?). And now I can take my time to singalong the Life On Mars handwritten lyrics while feeling Bowie surrounds me! <3 Haven’t gone through everything yet, but I’m excited to take my time to explore how much the content the app is going to offer!

Amazing Experience
Jolly great stuff folks. If you want to delve into this marvelous app depicting with sights and sounds, imagery and facts, all regarding Bowie, you won’t be disappointed. It’s like being immersed into Bowie space, floating around from flower to flower, taking a sip here, a bite there, nuggets of facts, all the while surrounded by his equally fantastical music and sometimes audio excerpts from interviews etc. Tapping on most things and then using a pinching gesture outwards on a photo or item enlarges things so you can read or view them in detail. There’s so much to explore, it’s well worth the quids!

The App is a digital recreation of The world renowned exhibition of one of Rock greatest stars David Bowie who’s 72 after he passed on. The app called David Bowie Is is a moving unforgettable experience that recreate the entire exhibition with even more items not seen in the original touring shows. it tell his amazing story from his early childhood in London to his sad death with his final album release BlackStar in 2016. It includes Music videos, Film, Live recordings, Photos, and so much more. Including full songs and famous album art. What a show.

Phenomenal - Experience
I have pleasure to see David Bowie Is in Chicago at the MCA. The AR David Bowie Is app is very close to seeing again! I was searching to see if David Bowie Is happened to have new dates or was still touring, when I found a reference to the AR app. Wow! What a joy to find. Hoping still to have the exhibit go on tour again. I recommend to anyone that saw the original exhibit and wants a similar but different experience and to those hat did not have an opportunity to see the first tour.

Thrilled to own it
I actually saw the exhibit in person and was amazed. Life long bowie fan. To be able to have the experience to watch at my own leisure is amazing. My only issue with this is the music. A lot of the compilation music from the physical exhibit is missing and that’s what made it special. (Like the mashup of songs in front of the mirror when you walked into the main exhibit room). Gary Oldman narrating it was the best choice ever. Best mates do that for each other.

Almost like being there!
The app is gorgeous! I was lucky enough to visit the exhibit in Brooklyn, and this is almost as good as the real thing. Everything is very clear and beautiful, and I love that I can interact with some of the pieces. The sound might be even better actually because you have more control in what you listen to. The VR is the best I’ve seen. There’s occasional shakiness, but some of that might just be me. I’m only about a quarter of the way through, but I’m extremely pleased so far.

I’m back at the museum
After seeing the exhibit twice, both in Berlin and Brooklyn, this app is exactly what I was waiting for! If there were any areas you felt you were rushed, or areas you really loved, you’ll feel you’re back at the museum! It’s an absolute *must* for any Bowie fan - I’m re-immersed in the entire experience, from costumes and photos to the music and videos. If this is your first dive into the exhibit, you’ll be swimming, “like the dolphins can swim!”

The Freakiest Show on your iPod Touch
The best App versions of the brilliant exhibit of one of the great performers David Bowie. It has a lot of what makes the show great and more as well as great Narration by Gary Oldman and has a lot of artifacts and objects from the Starman’s entire career. It also has Music Videos, Live Shows, Costumes, Interviews and Narrations from Bowie himself and more. It left me felling Under Pressure and I love it. Hope for more Updates and added stuff from The Bowie Archives.

A Futuristic Journey Through the Life of an Icon
A fantastic app that delves into the mind of a music titan. I felt as though I was part of a documentary and could interact with the content and memorabilia. A futuristic concept that brings the museum to your very home. The app was very responsive, intuitive, and fluid. It never lagged, it told a wonderful story, and I always felt as though I could discover something new, subtle, and unique.
